  1. Well, I'm just curious as to why you want to use AutoPatcher after nLite-ing. Why not use Direct Integration? Autopatcher is not "designed" to be used with an nLite-ed Installation as it has no clue that you removed stuff.
  2. Nonetheless, under the constraints you've given (only one XP installed on C-drive and no other CD than attachable and no floppy or bootable USB) you're kind of stuck. You'll STILL need some method of copying a NON-RUNNING XP to the External. Hence the link I gave (see "H.- HOW TO CREATE A SECOND WINDOWS XP BY COPYING THE EXISTING ONE"). If you had a dual-boot (e.g. a second XP installed and running with independent PageFiles) it would be possible to clone the first install to the External. Hence the suggestion of a Winbuilder/LiveXP In-RAM.
  3. Hmmm... you can't clone a "running" XP. No way. HIVES are actively being accessed. The rationale behind the removing the Registry Entries is the fact that XP stores the HDD info in it and it will (probably) not boot to the cloned drive because it still (in those REG entries) "sees" the Original HDD as the Device on which it's installed. XXCOPY weighs in at approx. 550kb. jaclaz might suggest Plop Booting maybe? Since you have ONE attachable CD, maybe you could (RAM permitting) load a LiveXP from it into RAM which would allow for disconnect-CD/reconnect-HDD for the "clone" operation. Been doing this for about a year now (using a HDD "image", a not-really-SDI-image BOOT.SDI), both USB and CD. This is how I "beat" a laptop having the same situation as you (no CD, no Floppy, but DID boot from USB).
  4. Your ultimate goal then is to create VOB files (the format standard DVD's are in). You'll probably have to use individual apps to convert them (depending on the format) to a single format that another software can convert/burn. Use DVD+R for burns and a burner/software that can set the Book Type accordingly - no faster than 4x (standard is 2.5x believe it or not). I only did this with MPG (a live video of a jam I did) using Nero software. Free software that actually works is hard to find. You should maybe SandBox a "test install" of your OS in a VM to see if it works (and don't flub your Running OS). I kind of doubt you'll find a single free "general conversion" software to do "the world"... A Search on (e.g.) "flv vob converter free" (no quotes) shows a not-recommended XVID (cnet) but the same page (cnet) shows a variety pack of various software (apparently recommended). HTH
  5. Get out of the Forums? <--- Look to the left... Now search for all that are designated as such. It wasn't "free" or "by donation" - it was EARNED! Sounds like "hacker's English" to me...I repeat Got a link to the above 3d Party Software? Can you NAME it? Or should everyone use a Crystal Ball?BTW, Date and Time is in the Post itself - no need to "log" it in your posts. Just for you... Looks like you do this type of thing everywhere - Opera, Hydrogenaudio, Videolan, Freecommander, etc etc... And here... Courtesy of jaclaz... Enjoy your stay.
  6. From What To What? How are you downloading - to FLV, SWF - what?
  7. Dude, stop with the "hacker's english" or I'll stop trying to assist! WTF is "wwwNIC"? Maybe THAT is causing the problem? Do you assume (a**-u-me) that we all use this "3d party software" and are familiar with it? HE** NO I'm not going to install it just to "test" your problem. I do things the old fashioned way - by hand using the OS! And you have "no idea" why I wrote "assume no wireless" when you SPECIFICALLY stated THAT, is a SERVICE for Wireless! Apparently you are NOT using any Wireless Networking, right or wrong?Look at your OTHER topic, I tried to help with... VERY detail-lacking! (j*rk!)
  8. One question (#1) answered out of two. What about the other (#2) one? Have you searched like I said? Is it an nLited SP3? Was it initially SP1/SP2 and "upgraded" to SP3? Have you disabled any Services? Can you give some details? The INF in question appears to be "NETIP6.INF". It really looks like your "uninstall" must have been more of a "deleted/removed".
  9. Short answer - yes. The Router is just a "mini-server" so you set up the External (WAN) items exactly as you would when connected directly to a PC. The remainder of the Router (LAN) setup is up to you.
  10. Since you brought it up... Firefox 3.6.28 (last Firefox 3.x). Oldapps (a variety pack). Cnet is loaded with different versions, as is Filehippo. And no I don't use Windows Live Essentials, except I DO have Live Messenger v8.5.1235.517 installed (never use it, though). So... I must (since the choice is also not there) vote "no" all counts.
  11. WZC=Wireless Zero Configuration I assume you are NOT using Wireless? Looking at your other posts, you don't provide much info.... "NEED INPUT" (Johnny Five)
  12. What Service Pack version/level of XP? How-to install (NOT the same as your link - why do you use that krap website?) - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2478747 In addition, apparently if you are SP2, you need IPv4 installed FIRST and then install IPV6 support. A download for IPv6 when XP-SP1. Try googling "xp ipv6 support" (without quotes) instead... P.S. how do you mean "uninstalled"/"GUI"? Via "Network Connections"?
  13. Nonetheless, WHY did you install "UURollup" TWICE? Now you have "boogered" Profiles (that will need fixed - not a fun thing to do). And you did NOT initially say you had installed again (over the top, mind you) - you JUST said it! Normal procedure to "Test" and "Get it to work" is start from scratch. Scientific method...
  14. In addition, it's the THIRD "MSCF" - the offset (as shown) is different between older/newer versions. The Program to be executed is irrelevant. Also, there IS a difference between THIS SFX (actually says "SFXCAB.EXE" in the Properties) and another one that uses a DIFFERENT SFX (the one that WildBill refers to needing "patched", AFAICR).
  15. There are several methods. Look around... 1 - From Ram-Loaded CD 2 - From Ram-Loaded HDD Image (see #3) 3 - From USB Directly (two boots - must run Setup with "/noreboot" and alter a few files before prep) Grub4DOS is the usual "boot loader"...
  16. Actually, if you look real close, you'll find a link to a List of all Official (and Unofficial) updates that you can individually download...
  17. The BATCH command to include - <8.3 path to>ntfschk.exe * /q /v /@<8.3 path to>ntfschk.iniNTFSCHK.INI Ntoskrnl <8.3 path to>NTOSKRNL.EXE Ntfs <8.3 path to>NTFS.SYS Autochk <8.3 path to>AUTOCHK.EXE ntdll <8.3 path to>NTDLL.DLL oemPage <8.3 path to>C_437.NLS ansiPage <8.3 path to>C_1252.NLS intlPage <8.3 path to>L_INTL.NLS I ran into a problem, however. It seems that "PSAPI.DLL" (a missing export from one of above) must be put in the SYSTEM32 folder. This should work with both the ReadOnly-version and the Pro version. As I remember (?) I just made a separate CMD with a PIF, and put the PIF in the Main Menu (Start->Programs) "Startup" folder. It's been (apparently) 7 yrs since I used it. I believe I tried with each of the Win2k, XP, and Server2k3 versions - DO NOT mix them - stick to one set (and SP-level)! edit - unknown on SATA as I didn't have one at the time. One might assume it would be OK if set to IDE/PATA mode. Above Worked on both 98 and ME (I might have put something in the Registry at one time to "Run" NTFSCHK instead of "Startup" - can't remember).
  18. Have you tried looking here? Lists and links to both official and unofficial. There are actually three "update packages" available, BTW.
  19. 1 - Add JUST the Driver for Direct Integration 2 - Make a BAT/CMD to run the Full Package After First Full Boot (RunOnce) - you'll need the Silent switches Just did the same method for an Integrated Sound Device (first the driver, THEN the Package to get the "mixer").
  20. YOINKS!!! I just recently used the WU-MU package (Ricktendo64's) with "wuforce" manually (via a CMD) installed to a fresh WinXP and it works fine. The solution is to (IF you want v257) is to ADD it after (rather than Direct Slipstream) by actually running it. Otherwise, just use the v2.56 package, and for JUST WU use the EXE program from MS ( link also found on -X-'s website/inside the UDC BAT). Seriously, I see no problem with it. The ONLY thing that happened was IE8 asked if I wanted to run an ActiveX (say "yes").
  21. First, you did NOT say "SYSTEM.EXE", rather you said "system". You're not being very clear. The REASON I asked about that SPECIFIC program is because a NASTY virus/trojan is going around that in just the last tweo weeks have had to "clean" from several PC's, apparently from either "drive-bys" OR Keygens"", OR a "fake AV Pop-up" that is stupidly clicked on. Google "SERVICES.EXE" and "TROJAN" to see what I mean - there's also ROOTKIT/KEYLOGGER - McAfee has a rather detailed write-up on it in a PDF file. It's a bugger to get rid of. AND it "eats" the CPU usage sometimes WAY up there to where you can't even click on anything. In one case, I had to lower the SYSTEM.EXE Priority and do a "Repair Reinstall" (Win7 Premium x64), and manually delete (via a LiveXP/LiveLinux) the offender (VERY hidden in the User's folder). AFAICR, I had to (in safe mode) make another Admin UserID to get back to Normal Boot. BTW, the UAC was turned OFF (a side effect of the nasty?). Next, I had to go into the Registry and isolate the entries and either correct some OR delete some. WOOHOO! 2 days work for $30! Not happy! In the other case, I didn't want to go through the same thing - Daughter purchased used laptop that DID have OEM Vista but some moron (previous owner) had installed a BOGUS Win7x86Ultimate (Grub BootLoader stunt). Managed to delete a couple of offenders BUT it deactivated. ENOUGH, says I, and used EasyBCD to add the Restore Boot Image in the (luckily still there) Recovery Partition and did a Factory Restore (that was 3 hrs by itself). THREE days and $0! WOOHOO! Now, back to your info that you just gave - are you the same guy posting on some other forums? I ask because I see only a couple exactly related to your post with the exact same PE results (now that you've given that last "tidbit"). IF you do a search on what I said, you WILL find what I'm talking about. Have you been bitten?
  22. IF (I said IF!) you decide to go with Office Compatibility Pack you'll have several other Updates to it. This is the full "set" 2009-08-21 08:01 PM 38,808,920 FileFormatConverters.exe 2011-09-20 07:46 PM 38,569,824 compatibilitypacksp3-kb2526297-fullfile-en-us.exe 2011-11-01 10:40 PM 1,771,400 msptls2007-kb2596785-fullfile-x86-glb.exe 2011-11-01 10:40 PM 1,974,960 pptconv2007-kb2596843-fullfile-x86-glb.exe 2012-04-05 12:45 PM 3,380,752 wordconv2007-kb2596880-fullfile-x86-glb.exe 2012-04-05 02:11 PM 2,321,872 ogl2007-kb2596672-fullfile-x86-glb.exe 2012-04-29 09:51 PM 9,012,824 xlconv2007-kb2597162-fullfile-x86-glb.exeInstall in above order by date. edit - ARGH! The Viewers also have some "updates". Buried somewhere in my Hotfixes are the names... just be aware (they may be larger than Converter files). Ummm... could be wrong about that. May just be the above list...
  23. Just curious - can you get a Task Manager "Show Processes All Users" and "sort" by CPU (highest first) and maybe see Services.exe "jumping"?
  24. #2 - ref. this. Using appropriate BAT/CMD and a CMDLINES.TXT you can do it in an "unattended" install. Properly set up, you can both install from HDD (via a WinPE) and have a CD ready in case of "failures" and use the BAT/CMD to reapply the Fixes (what I do). Also see this topic. No, you didn't err using #1 - my #2 method "incorporates" #1 (see above). The fact that it's an OEM version is not (necessarily) relevant - it may already have Drivers and some Hotfixes "integrated". Was just inserting variations of the same "theme".
