Script to set wmp 11 as default
submix8c replied to BLASH's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@Geej - 4Shared requires sign-up to download? -
DOH!!!! Should have noticed that. As for the other item I highlited, beware of HDD sizes - look here as well (fixes available and lots of info).
-
(sigh....) There is a "gear" above next to "Search" - click on it. Now enter 'SATA" in "term" and "rloew" in "member name". He has a SATA-supporting Driver (but not free). Also search (Google) the internet - his websites pop up immediately. Go from there. I haven't yet attempted to load 98SE onto my E521 (misspoke - not an E510) yet. It SHOULD have loaded - maybe you need the latest Intel Drivers (mine is VIA-based)?
-
Please, this is not a "blog" with "running commentary". I'm so happy you're satisfied with your test results. Before I even had a go at it you insist it "can't be done"... good for you! I have a wealth of other drivers for that "card" - do you have what I have (probably not )?I'll report back my findings (not yours...) when I have a chance. Games are not on the top of my priority list. (and with that - please stop it and wait until I "get there" from "here' as I intend to do with "confirmed" or "guess what" .) BTW, did you notice the QEMU references in my new links (above)?
-
Um, no... I haven't yet tried it myself. Why do you presuppose that it didn't work for YOU that someone else may be able to? A "box" is a "box" and still (somewhat) a VM (of sorts). It APPEARS that it MIGHT run on DOS/Win3.x(?) and "potentially" Win9x IN VPC (with the correct drivers and setup)edit - (5) is out-of-commission (CPUIDLE) alternatve download site Quite a number of older drivers at the site... notation -> to here (similar pgm for Win3x)
-
. (searching... I have a Dimension E510 - some similarities)Is RAID turned OFF in BIOS (2 HDD's rq'd for RAID)? Looks like the BIOS is very much the same is mine. No support for SATA/RAID in Win98 without a 3d party software (look for member name="rloew" posts).

Specs... Drivers... Install... Is the Printer Port properly Enabled? NM... just re-read... Is the Printer Port correctly identified in the OS? Have you tried using the "Add New Hardware" wizard? Is the cable you're using the CORRECT type and fully functional (a Printer cable may be the "old style" wiring) i.e. pre-tested?

Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 driver for Windows98

Looks grim. 2K isn't even listed. Found this, however. -
Script to set wmp 11 as default
submix8c replied to BLASH's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Double posting! Stick with this one! Someone might get a basic solution, but the original "concept" (see above) of the REG entries is the same. Have you tried right-clicking an "x.MP4" file and "Open With", then select "Always open this type of file with" tick-mark" then finding all occurrences of "MP4" and exporting the "set" (multiple places)? --Look here-- Right now (as I said) so I can't ATM test on my running OS or in my Virtual-Machine-XP-OS "test" install so I can't install K-Lite to see what your problem is. Can you say which K-Lite package you installed? It specifically states different packages install different sets of Codecs, so your request is HUGE (kind of). Apparently, since it doesn't know which Player is to use the Codecs you must "roll your own" depending on which Player you want to use. There is a Codec Tweak Tool that may or may not help. -

(sigh...) Did you try adding/installing the SoundBlaster DOS drivers and changing AUTOEXEC.BAT accordingly? (I gave the link to instructions). I will also (just for fun) attempt to install into my VPC-Win98SE. The MS VPC was intentionally made as an "older" VM just for basic compatibility. (Yes, Toto, the drivers ARE at the links I gave). Here's an interesting set of DOS/Win3x drivers.

Menu Selector for DOS based programs on same CD?
submix8c replied to Dogway's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
Dogway, you really ARE a glutton aren't you? Playing the "semantics" game doesn't erase the fact that the initial SPECIFIC suggestion was correct and you took it upon yourself to make a, well, FALSE assumption. Seriously, jaclaz is not one I relish debating with and (trust me), I'm well educated. Besides the fact that (and you must have missed this) English is NOT the "first" language of either of you (but IS mine). Play it smart... stop while your (almost) "even". Second place is a lot better than "L"... Seriously, you WOULD like later assistance, wouldn't you? -
(1) You mean the VPC "emulated" one?(2) The one(s) from the FTP site? (3a/3b) Did you "install" the Correct Drives for it? (same FTP site, btw) (4) Virtual PC does NOT have Drivers - you are using the DEFAULT ones supplied with Win98. (*) You will HAVE to allow resizing of the Screen in VPC (*) Did you notice that VPC also has a couple of "extras" to allow accelerations? -- -- in folder "Program Files\Microsoft Virtual PC\Virtual Machine Additions" -- VMAdditions.iso <--for Windows (DID YOU INSTALL THIS?) -- DOS Virtual Machine Additions.vfd <--for DOS (DID YOU INSTALL THIS?) (5) I note the "errors" and the info you just provided indicate that it's a Pure DOS 16-bit game. IOW, suitable to run on (e.g.) MS-DOS 5.0, so... Did you REALLY use XP's "DOS" and actually change screensize? AND have sound? Did you have to use ANY other drivers other than those supplied with XP on the REAL PC? -ALSO in the FIRST screen - that's NOT a VESA driver. Why is it I have a VPC DOS/Win3.11 AND a VPC Win98SE and both work just fine? BTW, I DID get the files from the site I gave and use them. I can ALSO use the Emulated Network Card in DOS and even PRINT to my... SHARED USB PRINTER. I can do ANYTHING in VPC that I could do if it were a "real" PC. That's where I do ALL of my testing. Point of interest - VPC (like any other Virtual Machine software) just EMULATES hardware - you MUST supply the CORRECT drivers. The fact that the "game" works on a REAL machine (with XP installed) indicates that you MUST have installed CORRECT drivers for the "game" to function. This is NO DIFFERENT than a VM. Seriously! I figured out the GAME you're having a problem with ("Dragon Ball Z MUGEN Edition 2: Freeware 2D combat game featuring characters from Dragon Ball Z"). I'll see what I can do for you. (you could ALSO help me help you by answering the above questions). OR... just try MagicAndre1981's suggestion... I had found a BETA one (doesn't work after 2000). Which means you need the VESA drivers.BWAHAHAHAH!!!! I'm leaving all of the above but DID find this! Scroll down to CHANGE THE CFG! Do NOT use the Screen Size you clearly are trying to use (ref. screen shots). INSTALL THE VM ADDITIONS (the ISO). ADD THE LINES FOR SOUND IN THE AUTOEXEC.BAT!(sheesh!!!!)

YOINKS, dude! Already in process! Even as far as ALL LANGUAGES! Browse around and see for yourself...

Script to set wmp 11 as default
submix8c replied to BLASH's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Well, I'm STILL confused. If you've already installed and afterward want to change it, the above method is how-to. That's what you JUST said! If you've made an "unattended", then am I to "assume" that you've INTEGRATED WMP11 and then put K-Lite in the "RunOnce" of the CD, hence "changing" the Defaults? Sorry, you're not being very clear. Reference your statement: So... is the problem that K-lite isn't working with MP4 and you want WMP11 to open (everything it's able to) instead?Tip - Do what the Link (and what I said) says to do to get to the Options. File Associations is there. SELECT THEM!!!! Now, go in the Registry (REGEDIT), and EVERY File Association that has "WMPLAYER" in it ("FIND"), EXPORT to a Reg file. Now, MERGE them into a SINGLE Reg file. Import it AFTER the K-Lite installs in your Unattended. I do NOT have WMP11 installed ATM so can't "supply" you with it. Worse still, I have installed QuickTime which gives it as well (and will probably show the K-Lite program in your case as another option in "open with"). Indeed, right-clicking on the FileName should GIVE you an "Open With" option. Do it for yourself and make it a learning experience. DOH!!! Look here... Scroll down to the section "MPEG-4". No "direct" way without 3'd party Decoders. Sooo... MP4 is out of the picture...Look at this. 'Nuff said! -
Menu Selector for DOS based programs on same CD?
submix8c replied to Dogway's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
(sigh...) Screwdriver not= Hammer Screwdriver not= Rock Although a Screwdriver will "screw", it can't "drive" a nail. Screwdrivers and Hammers cost $ but a Rock does not and does a Hammer's job just as well. You are free to make 7-Zip ("rock") faster if you wish. -
I can only surmise that since MS laid off a mess of folks AND they threw their effort into Windows 8 to compete with Apple and Google (to name a couple) that it's probably delayed, potentially to "back port" Win8 stuff (yuk!) to Win7. I too have found little except months-old rumors.
-
??? I really don't understand. Virtual PC w/Win98 works and so do 16-bit programs. The problem you're having is that the program (whatever it is - a game?) needs 16-bit drivers for the associated hardware. Heck, you can even get the NIC to work in DOS or Win98. The above link is not as good as this one which is a really good collection. MS' VPC is the old Connectix VPC - they bought the rights. Here is the Hardware emulated: BIOS - AMI BIOS Chipset - Intel 440BX Sound Card - Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 ISA Network Card - DEC or Intel 21140 10/100 Video Card - S3 Trio 32/64 PCI with 8MB VRAM Here is the Video capabilities: So... I'm really confused because you said I gave you a link to full-blown drivers. Try them before you poo-poo the suggestion.

Menu Selector for DOS based programs on same CD?
submix8c replied to Dogway's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
(heh..) WinRar (even the latest) only opens the CD and doesn't reveal the ElTorito boot image. Hence the suggestion of 7-Zip. If you'd have just used it as suggested, you'd have seen it. BTW, "Universal Extractor" uses 7-zip as well (look in the folders) - doesn't even include WinRar for opening RAR's - uses 7-Zip. Interestingly (slightly OT), WinImage will also "dump" the Boot.IMA as well. Sorry for your wasted time, but valid info WAS given. Any other problems (beyond all of above) let us know... and read any assistance posts thoroughly. If an "expert" steers you wrong (DOH!), another "expert" will surely correct them. -
Um... I won't swear to this but I believe there are DOS drivers for MS' VPC, if you're looking for strictly DOS-mode. Look for "S3 Trio" drivers, specifically (AFAIKR) "S3 Trio 64v". The Sound is "Soundblaster Compatible" and should also work. No Gameport though. Here are some DOS drivers that may work.

Ouch! According to Rev.3.0 MoBo manual that's the best you'll get - Voltage 2.1v / 6x75mhz=450mhz. Sad... I dumped 2 Tyan S1590's recently for recycle. If I'd still had them, I would have gladly given you one (gratis).

Not sure I understand the question. Why a script? Go here and scroll down to and do it . Now the "Tools" Pull-down is available - click on "Options". Everything is there. -
