  1. Busy right now, but one point... Mixing points - 9, 10 and 11 You can't copy the HIVE (the five you speak of) files from a Running System. Exactly how did you copy it? From Running Win2000->USB->D-Drive? If you have a Running XP and the CD for it, try using WinBuilder or BartPE and make it extremely small-sized (only include what you need) and boot to it, THEN copy the Old Win2000 with the VIA drivers. I still foresee the Chipset Drivers causing problems when you try to boot to it. I'm doubting that will work (going to the ICH9, unless you go with Default). You'll still have to put the "Enable" REG entry into the appropriate HIVE (the old system). -or- Hook that HDD directly up to the Target PC (the one with the D-Drive) THEN copy. edit - ARG!!!! Won't work that way! Copying the Old Win2000 from (old) C-Drive to (new) D-Drive still has a LOAD of Registry entries point to (old) "C:\"!!!!! That won't fly at all!!! Thinking.... be back later.
  2. 1 - Second 3-1/2 or 5-1/4? 2 - Correct "twisted cable"? 3 - If (1) above some older ones have jumpers (model #'s are on them - check it out) 4 - look at this screenshot - is this set? If not, Windows won't even look...
  3. HUH???? Have you been trying to Install From a Bootable External USB???? 1 - you're not providing clear, concise information - we've had to "drag" it out of you 2 - you are not following instructions TO THE LETTER!
  4. You will have to get that Via Driver out of the "image". It is what's clobbering you! I'm not sure if you can boot to Safe Mode (can't remember - too busy to check) and Uninstall it then Reboot and let it find the Intel Driver. The change between one Chipset and another won't work. You may even have a "Machine" (basic Chipset Drivers) problem. The only cure is to In-Place Upgrade. The Via Drivers are NOT Default! They are 3d Party (as you were told). They do NOT come (AFAIKR) with unmodified Win2k. (feel free to correct me, tomasz86)
  5. This is the old system/Computer? It has Via IDE Drivers in it. You need Intel IDE Drivers.
  6. I'm not really sure what you are asking because of language translation. If possible, put your post into Notepad first, Copy it, then use maybe Google Translate from your language to English will help. If I understand, you want to Automatically install Software AFTER install Windows 7. If so, look at this instead.
  7. Browse around here for some very helpful information. This is called an "Unattended Install" (where your Topic should have been). If you have any more questions (for any specific problems of the setup) after browsing around, pleas use this Topic that you started. Moderator - suggest this Topic be moved.
  8. Can you give examples of files that get restored?
  9. Either 100mhz or 133mhz SDRAM (i.e. not DDR) - the "older" type. According to Crucial, it will take 256mb per slot. http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Gateway-memory/Select+Series/Select+750-upgrades.html
  10. Sorry to disappoint you, but Universal Extractor is not an Archiver any more than nLite is. It's strictly an Extractor, so your point is, well, the same as you just called me, Mr. Rude. Your original post - The link you pointed to ("Legroom") contains the Installer and the Standalone. The Contents of which have nothing whatsoever to do with Archiving (compressing/SFX-ing) anything. The Software is strictly for "Extracting" and nothing else.BTW, 7-Zip is just fine for EXTRACTING the RAR, so WTH is your point? What DO you want? Someone to "guess" where the Portable should be "extracted" to? The Author has NO CLUE where you MIGHT want to "install" a Portable version... IT IS UP TO YOU!!! And I REPEAT, it WILL NOT HAPPEN!!!! Obviously, the Author decide that it was a pointless exercise/waste-of-energy to create a Standalone SFX when anyone could do it. Why don't you ask them (if you can find them). Why not make it a CAB as well??? Make one for every type!!! Calling people "stupid" won't get you too much help around here. I suggest you clean up your attitude if you want to stick around.
  11. Sorry to say, but potentially it's a "deader". I had one (can't remember the model but AFAIKR a Seagate Barracuda) that I just tossed recently (an 80gb) - did the exact same thing (clicky-clicky then spin and unrecognized - the BIOS trying to "detect" it I assume). Of course, you may have better luck. Most uninformative I know, just an FYI of my own experience...
  12. Was I not clear? It ain't gonna happen! Do it yourself and don't complain "why should I do it"! I SAID the Author is NOT MAKING ANY UPDATES!!!! PERIOD! You may as well complain to Nuhi to Update nLite or vLite but... IT WON'T HAPPEN! (sheesh!) (BTW, the link you gave IS THE AUTHOR'S WEBSITE!!! See anything new?)
  13. Full package containing "SPLIT" is a newer version. The Older version is the one I use from here (11-11-1999) which doesn't require the two DLL's ("UnxUtils.zip" folder="usr\local\wbin"). Looking at the SourceForge Project, you can see where the changes were made. AFAIK, the change had something to do with Unicode. "UnxUpdates" (link) also has it (the ZIP is 859k vs 3287k) and is smaller (dated 06-20-2003). Haven't tested it yet... I had stumbled onto the "remote zip" thingy before. Useful maybe to get the "SPLIT" program, not so much for anything else in this particular project (or the -X- package). Not sure, but I THINK I might have had this kind of thing on either a 98SE or ME OS some years (10?) ago.
  14. You cannot be signed on to both PC's with the same User-ID at the same time. Does not work - you are attemptinmg to sign onto an account remotely that is ALREADY SIGNED ON. A Password MUST exist or is does not work - REQUIRED. Question, how did you set up the Win7/8 Sharing? "Workgroup"? "Simple File Sharing" DOES affect any other folder than "All Users" "Shared Folder" (aka "Public" in Win7) as far as ANY OTHER FOLDER (read the link)! In addition "Everyone" doesn't cut it as far as a "Share" on any other Folder unless you want to live dangerously - You SHOULD specify a given group OTHER than "Everyone" (it's up to you - or just use "Administrators") for "All Accesses". I believe that the "All Users Shared Folder" aka "Public Folders" (given by default when Sharing is enabled) has "All Accesses" for the purpose of Standard Sharing. I clearly understood you. Again, I just went through this on a Win7<->Srv2k3 - It DOES work that way!!! edit - read my post (#2) here for more info/links. Also read through this thread (about Win7+Win98) for some more.
  15. I wouldn't... WMI gets used a lot AFAIK.
  16. I will assume that Reshacker would work in Compatibility Mode and "Run As Administrator". I don't have access to a Win7 Install ATM (on another HDD not hooked up) but looking at XP, it appears that it might be inside the "Messages" resource. I would be wary of "modifying" the files as that may break something.
  17. Bzzzzzz Bzzzzz - Busy bee... -X- more than likely has also looked it over in his "spare time" (not yet implemented in his script). As far as 7-Zip instead, if you look at -X-'s UDC script, it does the same thing, so let's just say it's for the sake of consistency. Also, please note that -X-'s package includes 7-Zip to preclude the need to download and "un-Zip a ZIP file" (it's freeware) as is WGET. Other files need to be downloaded due to EULA's (keeping everything legal) - the exception is blah-blah (which could probably also be "built). The "target audience" was initially -X-, so again, consistency. Also note that "my script" needs a lot of cleanup of trash stuff. As far as "split" (see post#95), that seemed to be the only "free" program that fit the bill (PARTCOPY seemed to randomly fail download - also see post#69 and surrounding posts in addition to those surrounding post#95). Therefore, SPLIT could be also included in the "package" (note the source of the program - that link is dead but another exists for the complete set of utilities). If you can find another one, please let us know. Answered?
  18. Different chipsets between the two? If so, then you get the x7b.
  19. Do you have this setup? PC-A (doesn't matter which OS, requirement is the same) - User-A + User-B both with Pswd - Signed on as User-A PC-B (doesn't matter which OS, requirement is the same) - User-A + User-B both with Pswd - Signed on as User-B Both PC-A/PC-B - File and Printer Sharing Enabled - For the Win7 - check your Sharing settings * (Home/Work Groups and Public - Win7 needs HomeGroup if not member of Domain) - Firewall has to allow it (check the Firewalls for those options -TCP/UDP) Simple File Sharing may be a factor depending on your needs (google it for each OS) - for XP will give you some insight. The above is a "Generic" description. I just de-Trojan'ed a Win7 x64 and had 2-way access between my Server (2k3, basically the same as XP) and the Win7 just fine.
  20. Hmmm... don't know but... does this or this help?
  21. @dencorso - if that reply was directed at me... hmmm... It appears that this is basically an Intel D945GCL which says that it will take 2x2gb, so.... maybe that would be the "real" (unsupported) max. It's not unheard of that a given board will support more that the Manufacture/OEM claims. I'm sticking with the eMachines BIOS though (apparently had Vista pre-installed once - again, mobo and cpu in a one-side-missing box only), so we'll see (in the future). note - one heck of a time finding specifics on PCB Rev3.1boards - mostly the Rev3.0 show up. [/hijack]
  22. Beware selecting items that are NOT for your OS as it contains MULTIPLE AddOns that may not be compatible. Not that any are bad (onepiece does good work)... Just saying if you don't know what you're getting because you THINK you should use ALL of them you MIGHT WILL be sadly mistaken. BTW, thanks...
  23. Clean your PC's guts everyonce in a while or risk the wrath for Immediate OFF!

  24. Hmmm... according to comments/investigation above, the OP needs to switch to Option#2 - RAID Autodetect / ATA = RAID if signed drives, otherwise ATA <---ATA-mode (no drivers) -or- Bite the bullet and get the patches (not free) from rloew and hope it works... OP's choice if they want to boot that sucker! In addition to any "free" patches provided here (ref. LoneCrusader and any other tips).
  25. Thx, Odar, but you still don't get it... the Original Poster is CALLING all of the checks and installs from HIS OWN VISUAL STUDIO PROGRAM! Meaning... the MSI is NOT to be called/installed from 7-zip SEPARATELY!!! JUST THE SETUP.EXE (which (1) checks the registry to see if PGM installed and (2) if not, Installs it). Capice??? Please reread the thread....
