Mediafire appears to be a good place to upload to without having to sign up, although I'm quite sure that you would have to sign up to "upload" something. Be aware of ramifications of proprietary software.
-
Ummm... your friend must have assumed you would be using XP, for which nLite is for. And vLite is for Vista. I have seen RT7Lite to be used with Windows 7.

JEEZ, dude - FALSE POSITIVE!!!! Wiki In addition, if YOU did not upload it and are DEPENDING ON OTHER VERSIONS and ONLY looking at OTHERS results - THOSE are YES because there IS one going around! Get a program "Hashmyfiles" and CHECK THE HASH! I will BET that YOUR file will NOT be listed! Results of MY XP-SP3: Name / MD5 / Sha-1 / CRC32 / Date /Size / Version svchost.exe 27c6d03bcdb8cfeb96b716f3d8be3e18 49083ae3725a0488e0a8fbbe1335c745f70c4667 6ef02438 2008-04-14 10:00:00 AM 14,336 5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2111) NO VIRUS! Microsoft uaa bus driver for high definition audio
submix8c replied to BLASH's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
?WTH? SP3 - INTEGRATE it! ...and WHO is "XP Expert"? ...and POST ALL OF THIS STUFF IN UNATTENDED as you have obviously been speaking of doing that. You just CAN'T pick-and choose pieces of the Service Pack - you need to get the POST-SP3 fixes to do that (which as has been stated may ALSO be a "Hotfix" already include in SP2). You will BREAK a pre-SP3 XP by just "changing" things willy-nilly. -
Three questions: QuickTime Player, WMP plug-in, and SSE2
submix8c replied to vipejc's topic in Software Hangout
1 - SSE. Description (links to others) Depends on what you're doing, I guess. 2 - Options to "allow" or "not allow" - checked those? QT and WMP will only play "supported" and other codecs may be needed (e.g. K-Lite). 3 - No clue - Never got WMP to work in FF so gave up and use QT instead. BTW, do you mean "np-mswmp.dll" (see this)? side not - I stopped at FF 3.6.28, only install up to FF 11 on relative's PC's as the later ones don't support many plugins (especially FB). In addition, I stopped at QT 7.66.71.0 as it seems to be stable in both FF-11 and IE8 (which I also install on relatives). They really know how to jump ahead, don't they? -
Well, as I gave the address of the (apparently) Hosting site, perhaps someone has inadervtently HARD-WIRED you "dynamic" address into THEIR website. Again, I use NO-IP and have a dynamic IP which is updated occasionally to allow others to access it and had to give an INCOMING exception to Port 80 for my INTERNAL "fixed" IP address. http://martin-entltd.no-ip.org/ (No longer valid - NOIP deleted it from my Account and it's "stuck" to unusable.) ?Something odd with that IP address... What happens with the above (mine)?

Remove "Audio Service" from XP while keeping the sounds
submix8c replied to Agorima's topic in Windows XP
(sigh...) Do what you wish - Find the Service in the Registry, export the REG file. delete the Entry from the Registry, Restart and be satisfied. I personally have no problem with it. I did a "basic test" and gave you the results. If you have any problems with any Software, just reload the REG file and reboot. -OR- just DISABLE IT!!! -
What do I think? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2025695

Yeah, a little goofy-looking. It appears that the Outbound are legitimate. Apparently, it's part of the communications cycle. Details of one (Symantec Firewall, BTW):
-
??? http://en.timeweb.ru/support/faq/ If that's YOUR IP address, maybe you've set up a Web Server? I have one on my PC (via "no-ip") and had to make "exceptions" to allow folks to access it. edit - (stupid me... I made a second post...)
-
Can't disagree. The IP in your screenshot seems to indicate a Russian website that's being accessed. edit - ULP! Is that YOUR External IP address? http://jaguar.timeweb.ru/error_domain.htm

FWIW, if your intent is to play REALLY older games, just install a good Virtual Machine (MS Virtual PC, VirtualBox, etc.) and install onto it along with the games. The only thing (usually) coming into play is then just the CPU. 98SE quite happily installs on them.
-
So sorry for your loss. We all grieve for you. Hope you didn't lose anything that can't be replaced.
-
"fsquirt.exe is a Microsoft BlueTooth File Transfer Wizard" found in "Windows\System32". Can you explain HOW you "replaced" it? Just saying "you replaced it" tells nothing. Details, please...
-
Yes... several other folks have uploaded to sites that don't require a "sign-up"...

how to Adding new keyboard layout silently?
submix8c replied to honestvip's topic in Application Installs
Please don't Double Post. Use the other one. MSFN Rules (see 2.a). -
Me accessing MSFN.ORG (the Port 80 one) through my router (my router address=192.168.8.17 - multiple ports):
-
Found that out - a gave a link (somewhere in the Win8 subforum) to an article on it. And I agree. BS! What if you "roll your own"? TELL them? Smacks of one step closer to "Big Brother" (as if they haven't done it already).

Remove "Audio Service" from XP while keeping the sounds
submix8c replied to Agorima's topic in Windows XP
What "behavior"? Just "Disable" it and see if you still have any sound. "Manages audio devices for Windows-based programs. If this service is stopped, audio devices and effects will not function properly. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start." So... you DON'T want Audio? If you want to, go to the Registry and delete it. But you'll regret taking that action. Edit - hmmm... just disabled mine, and WMP plays MP3's... Windows sounds fail... -
Exactly how large did you "expand" that partition? I normally "ghost" a partition to backup, delete/define partitions, then "ghost" restore. What Fun! Have you looked into "PC Inspector File Recovery"? It kind of looks like the "expand" goobered you OR that the Partition is "out of bounds" (ref. the topic you assist with - links to HDD Partitions GT 132GiB - there ARE stipulations).
-
Both true, HOWEVER, there IS a topic on this and MOST folks use the "patched" module (I do). Again, there are stipulations to PARTITION size and NOT the HDD size with the patches. The fact that the OP can boot to Safe Mode, however, indicates a Driver problem of some sort. The motherboard. The OP is more fortunate tha I am - I have no PATA connectors. Drivers (Vista/XP 32-bit, like mine). Suggest reading two topics (links given) re: RAM and HDD-Size. Drivers may be causing hiccup. Of course, using a PATA HDD could work (the boxes allow for two HDD's - my box is exactly like yours - stupid mBTX Form Factor - B=Backwards).
-
??? "Big Problem - Help" as topic? Read MSFN Rules Now... Impossible, if you did this right. In the Unattended there IS a place for the Admin Name/Password and it DOES get placed into the WINNT.SIF. Reference Guide nLite Images (see the one for "Users" with "Use Blank Password" as selection?) Did you notice at the top of this screen? in BIG RED LETTERS! Please DO SO from now on, OK?
-
See above posts, my friend. Links are there. You can't "run" with that much RAM. While in Safe Mode, you can edit/replace a couple of files to overcome (work around) the RAM problem. That'll get you part of the way there. "HIMEMX.EXE to replace HIMEM.SYS" <-part of the "fix" Read all relevant links thouroughly. Is THAT the "patches" you installed? (??? 1GiB should be ok, though) And you alos "patched" for the HDD Limitation, correct? (BTW, re: HDD there are stipulations for Partition Sizes/Types) (Hmmm 945g... sounds familiar...) edit (references) - Oddly there's a Server on HP's website w/this chipset and it states "windows 98SE" as a compatible OS. edit2 - highest appears to be the 925... don't know if "modding" the INF in it would work...
