@ ripken..I think I will go for SLI...at least prepare me for the future dual 7800gtx setup @ suryad...Yes, this whas exactly was I was thinking....very good OC even not so hardcore as DFI board...but much more nice features like the wifi and firewire800.... Do you by any chance know what stepping of the Opteron 144 939 I should hunt down?

I'm looking at these two: GA-K8NXP-SLI what this has that speaks for it is: firewire 800 sata300 wifi DFI LANParty NF4 SLI-DR what this has that speaks for it is: very good OC and high quality components I'm not that into OC so I'm thinking the Gigabyte mobo will be the best choice coz all the extras....but the big question is: will the opteron run in this?

thanx fellas, nice input @ripken ..is there any specific stepping of Opteron that I should consider? (seems like it is a great value due to its VERY good OC capabilities) Whta do you think of a board that utilize the ATI chipset, from wht I've read it has issues with USB2..? Good thing with that chipset is the highdef audio...not many has that in the AMD world from what I've learned now.

Oh, should have been more precise....PCI-E, a valuable CPU that would match or exceed my present (P43.4), and some good memorysticks that has decent latency at a decent price...price is allways a concern . CPU and sticks are the easy part, the hard part is to find me that board that will serve me well...for some reason AMD has represented "not allways and nessesary good quality" for me..

It's time to throw out that Intel 775 and go AMD, I'm just fed up with the heat issues... Give me tip about which motherboards I should consider, I have a 6600gt card and are thinking maybe buy another one and go SLI.... I'm not a big fan of extreme OC, just a stable board that will be problemfree and that has enuff gadgets and decent setting possibilities...kinda like Asus quality thanx

well, I have the nessesary regentries and a coupla files to install it nomatter what you have removed the dll's that are needed comes around 2mb heavy together..(not from XP source)...and the usage of printer, well...I mail my documents a hella lot more than print them out... ..but your right, this will maybe only add more issues...just wanna show the nah-sayers that anything can be done it's dropped... edit: I forgot to say, if you are planning to use Open Office...MS Office 2k will draw much less resources..thats a fact

I think we can rule out frontpage and powerpoint, users that utilize those aren't interested in this thingie. But how about keeping Word, Excel and Outlook? give some feedback on this and I will get on it later

Yes, this is truy a amazing experince from all aspects...updates popping upp like there were no tomorrow..these guys really are working on it...and the app itself...wow...when pulling a file or two I see a usage of 2.6mb....2.6mb!!...sometimes it's pure pleasure....

I think you missed the point of the thread, suggesting the best OS except XP...that would leave XP out of the comparison, wouldn't it? 2k will be the best choice thats for sure. And I must agree with azagahl, that registration is a itchy thing...also one of the reasons I will never plug that Vista (read Palladium, TCG...or whatever is the name of the day)....it's just another step on my integrity-toe (thats all there is left of it nowadays...).

Well, it kinda depends what you are planning to use it for....and how "hardcore" you wanna go. Securitywise it's just the usual things, like remote registry and NetBIOS and so on..same as in XP.

I must agree, this is just awesome....i have spent a few days on this and it never exceeds 5mb of memory use even though I grab some 5-10 files at a time. I just earned me some 100mb in resources by throwing that Azureus/Java hogger out.

Heh, thanx for the interest guys but I think you missed the question. I need to change it PRE-Install in the appropriate HIVE What I'm asking for is basicly the regtweak (in hiveformat or regular) that is applied when choosing that option in nLite.

Can someone help me with where I can find the "change admin account" tweak in either the hive or point me to where to look....I've have done a nLiter but didn't change the admin account name. To much has been done to the image already for me to make a new one. thanx

If you wanna change that port on your home puter : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber and change it to what you consider will do it (on the Edit menu change to decimal). When connecting from work just enter: ***.***.***.***:portnumber
