  1. Well, I would like to have a cool E-Mail Icon...but are not that fond of giving out my addy like this. I practically give out my adress to a sponsored site that then are used as a referer...right? Is it not a more "generic" way to do this?
  2. Hmm, well..I kinda like it to look as much XP as possible so the transition between setup, logon, WPI is as smooth as possible if you know what I mean. The resizable and border adds sorta takes it a step away from that for me. Just my .5 cents worth..
  3. No, I don't have IE...just the core ..but many ppl believe you actually need IE browser...wich is not true.
  4. Heh, I'm the only one voting down Longhorn In my opinion ME can be a good OS if you have knowledge to make it so. Compared to 98 it has decent driverbase, some security, system restore, and is reasonable lightweight. But Longhorn....
  5. I don't know if I'm shooting blanks here, but when I remove IE and unregister it properly @ T-12, I loose .hta referers to MSHTA.EXE and as a result get a "open with" when WPI are supposed to start. So I throw this in at the end of my massive reg to get that referer back: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.hta] @="hta_auto_file" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\hta_auto_file\shell\open\command] @="\"C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\mshta.exe\" \"%1\"" I thought better clutter your post a bit if there is someone out there experience same problem.
  6. Yes, I can't help that I get so annoyed by this dude...
  7. Go here: http://unattended.msfn.org/global/cmdlines.htm That will give you a pretty good idea on how to set it up
  8. Sure you can add more tweaks, preferably at T-12 or at RunOnceEx. Look here on how to set up cmdline.txt and other related stuff: http://unattended.msfn.org/
  9. Yup, didn't know..gonna have a try at it Here did I find them if anyone is interested: ZoneAlarm Pro 6.0.591.002 Beta http://fileforum.betanews.com/download/Zon...ro/1023831973/3 ZoneAlarm Security Suite 6.0.591.002 Beta http://fileforum.betanews.com/download/Zon...te/1091194220/1
  10. Agnitum Outpost Firewall is by far the best software FW, but if ZA is a must I would try to find the ZA 4.5.594 version. ZA v5.* is crap, it blocks and mess things up at best. But then, thats only my own opinion. And between Kaspersky and ZA...Kaspersky.
  11. Ok, I slipped.. . It was close to another recent nick-issue when someone just added 1 to my nick (wich usually happends when they have tried the same nick and then simply puts an 1 after it, and that is not very good manners) , but this is not the case here coz the nick Player is free.....my bad! so..sorry bout that..
  12. Hmm, so you take the name Player1 when there is a long time member named Player2 and in the first post you ask for help...
  13. hoak is definately on the right track... EDIT: That is when it comes to the differences XP/2K3 regarding memorymanagement and so on.... As for that PowerJaddaJadda...it's just a bunch of regtweaks...and a lot of them "generic" . Just needed to point that out after reading the first post properly..
  14. netbooting support (for testing RIS) fast formatting in 2k/xp setup (due to sparse file creation on ntfs) officially (and unofficially) supports a lot more operating systems than VPC (appears to emulate more hardware...) Has a lot of enhancements to speed up things that are traditionally slow on a real pc (such as fdisk.exe in dos if you decide to use it for whatever ungodly reason) some versions of it will emulate more than one CPU Personally I use Virtutech Simics for all of my non-x86 simulation needs. the x86-64 simulator is really helpful for testing x86-64 nlite. Well worth the price, IMO. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, thanx But fast formatting works in VPC as well (a few sec), but I use only a 5gb systempartition so it may differ on bigger partitions. And fdisk.exe in dos..hehe, well...not happening everyday But that netbooting support sounds appealing, guess I have to try it out then.
  15. Hmm, a ratio of 4-1 in Wmware's favor... I have never tried Wmware...been at VPC since day1. Can someone point out the biggest differences between those two? EDIT: Just saw earlier posts..anyone have additional info
  16. Not true, this can "easily" be added. Install a full version in Virtual PC and then grab a copy of those IPX related files, make use of Advanced Registry Tracer and UnregDll and unregister those Dll's whilst taking a snapshot of your registry before and after that unregging. In ART you have two choices of exporting a regfile of difference of those snapshots. If you choose REDO you will have a regfile for regging those Dll's back again.. Good Luck!
  17. Yeay, Mike Lin's I have, it's cool....if there are more around please give a hint folks
  18. Yup, I hear ya Wasn't really ment as a flame..more of a reflection. As (undoubtly) the greatest economical/military nation you guys need a kick in da butt once and a while
  19. What can you say... Well, she is doing it for her sons education...that says more about US than her actually. I feel very fortunate not to be born and living in US, "greatest country in the world"... In Sweden we have something called social security, and meaning it...this will never ever be needed by a parent that wishes for their child to get a good education. ...now you go ahead and flame me...
  20. I must say Office XP, Office 2003 pulls a lot more memory and just doesn't have any more useful features to me...only that gayish looking ui. I'm playing with OpenOffice and really like it's self contained approach, MS Office is just to much integrated with the rest of OS..not good if you are an OS "ripper". But I really miss an alternative to Outlooks sync possibilities with PDA...I wish there were an alternative.
  21. If used @ T-12 u can use this Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "HideFileExt"=dword:00000000 will set it as default as well for new users..
  22. Have a look here: http://bink.nu/Article3812.bink First thing that catches my attention: Not supported Windows image acquisition (WIA) Telephony, VPN & Dial-up Wireless networking (802.11) well, there goes that OS for using in older laptops... "Mönch" on the other hand looks more mature, but why miss out on such a simple thing as dialup? 500mb HD, does that mean that it will be driven without pagefile?
  23. Very nice indeed I have been thinking in those terms myself, using that setup more than once..just throw that disc in and add some apps...unattended. Also thinking of make use of Ghost, if there is a already familiar setup/needs one can have a couple of images as well on the DVD...like a preset gamingtweaked or a officetweaked OS. Thinkin of a "modular" section, using a library of services and components with regs and all...copy up/remove the files apply reg and a reboot and you have added/removed components. I still havent seen any app that can do the both in a nice gui. Endless possibilities...
  24. yup yup! Lets all try to stay away from talking about P2P like it is synonymous to illegal activities like "stealing" copyrighted material and so on. Even though I sure know that the bigger part of the data passing through those apps are indeed just that. It's all about keeping our freedom and liberty to make our own choices, what is trying to be done is simply limiting our possibilities to make our own decisions...I mean, I still can choose if I wanna keep that speedlimit..(that would actually endanger myself and others, with the possibility of accidents that would cost suffering and money for our collective economy). This is a fact, everybody knows this. ...and know now they have actually gotten this far with this P2P hunt that ppl actually are discussing in terms of the P2P phenomena or application is legal on not, and wanna make the applications itself illegal....truly amazing! And all wrapped up in a sorry a** "protect the artist/individual" mantra. I still wanna make my own decisions, P2P programs is a excellent tool for sharing material, grabbing distros and so on...it's should perfectly enuff to have made the action itself of downloading/sharing stolen stuff illegal.
