  1. My guess is that it's a driver clash, try install XP with only ONE graphics card and then install all drivers and plugin without installing the second...if all is working you have nailed it down. XP setup can throw in drivers for both cards and mess things up, better add that second card after install and plugins is installed and add proper drivers for that card instead of the ones that comes with XP.
  2. Kaspersky 4.5 is the best, later versions hogs more resources and are to streamlined for my taste...cant stand wizards and crap. Also very easy on resources. But if we are talkin leanest I must say F-Prot 3.16c....under 5mb...that is VERY lean No need for that "AllInOneAnti-thisAnti-thatBlockerAV" if you use your head..
  3. I'm trying to find the keys for disabling certain events that keeps popping up in Event Viewer... I have found out that all you need is to find the proper key and insert a DWORD value : EventLog 0 anyone?
  4. Not that I like Norton but sweet work
  5. Heh, well...it's done now, with a mile of switches.. ..nice and tight now, nice package
  6. Why don't ya buy mine? Fujitsu-Siemens b-2130 with a whopper Celeron 400 and 128mb ...and for gaming a huge 2mb graphics setup... Sorry for that, couldnt resist..
  7. Just a question about those switches. Does XFULL=1 install everything that is available in the directory ..(I'm using CAB method) or if I havent all components there it will error out if all not present? EDIT: I have found it out that XFULL=1 will not work if not ALL components is present..
  8. you can use this to register it and it will open when klicking those pdf's Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.pdf] @="pdf_auto_file" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}] @="PDF Document" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\AuxUserType\2] @="PDF" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\AuxUserType\3] @="Foxit PDF Reader" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\DefaultExtension] @=".pdf, PDF Files(*.pdf)" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\DefaultIcon] @="C:\\PROGRA~1\\Foxit\\PDFReader.exe,1" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\DocObject] @="0" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\InprocHandler32] @="ole32.dll" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\Insertable] @="" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\LocalServer32] @="C:\\PROGRA~1\\Foxit\\PDFReader.exe" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\MiscStatus] @="32" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\Printable] @="" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\ProgID] @="FoxitReader.Document" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\Verb\0] @="&Edit,0,2" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}\Verb\1] @="&Open,0,2" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document] @="PDF Document" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\CLSID] @="{14E8BBD8-1D1C-4D56-A4DA-D20B75EB814E}" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\DefaultIcon] @="C:\\PROGRA~1\\Foxit\\PDFReader.exe,1" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\DocObject] @="0" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\Insertable] @="" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\protocol] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\protocol\StdFileEditing\server] @="C:\\PROGRA~1\\Foxit\\PDFReader.exe" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\protocol\StdFileEditing\verb\0] @="&Edit" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\shell] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\shell\open\command] @="\"C:\\PROGRA~1\\Foxit\\PDFReader.exe\" \"%1\"" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\shell\open\ddeexec] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\shell\print\command] @="C:\\PROGRA~1\\Foxit\\PDFReader.exe /dde" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\shell\print\ddeexec] @="[print(\"%1\")]" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\shell\printto\command] @="C:\\PROGRA~1\\Foxit\\PDFReader.exe /dde" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FoxitReader.Document\shell\printto\ddeexec] @="[printto(\"%1\",\"%2\",\"%3\",\"%4\")]" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\pdf_auto_file] @="" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\pdf_auto_file\shell] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\pdf_auto_file\shell\open\command] @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Foxit\\PDFReader.exe\" \"%1\""
  9. Cant remember now, but I know there was a worm and something other....also did point it directly to a directory where I have a few keyloggers...nothing. Also had problems uninstalling it, wouldnt start the uninstaller... EDIT: when trying to pack it in a sfx a get corrupt message, but still the installer works....could be something at my end. Just ignore my input for now.
  10. I have tried F-Prot 3 16b for a while and must say it misses a LOT of viruses, I even pointed the scanner directly to the directory but didnt say anything... Ver lean on resources, but... Just my 2 cents worth..
  11. Sure you can, it's even switchable between win-shell and avalon..login/logout. Stable and lotsa themes around.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's what Clint said, but I see no such options... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ops..! I was talking about Aston... To much going on lately, Im very sorry..!
  12. Sure you can, it's even switchable between win-shell and avalon..login/logout. Stable and lotsa themes around..
  13. Ok, here is another noobie...just started pokin' in this here awesome thingie I have set up structure as instructed/suggested on homepage. My applicationsfolder lies : F:\Install\Applications\PerfectDisk7 (F = %CDROM%) I burn out an iso and throw it in deamon, opens wpi directly from F:\$OEM$\$1\install\WPI..everything comes up alright. When klicking away that install I get error saying : "Windows cannot find 'F:\$OEM$\$1\install\WPI\Install\applications\PerfectDisk7\setup.exe'" my line in config.js looks like this: cmd1[pn]=['%CDROM%\\Install\\applications\\PerfectDisk7\\setup.exe S/ v/ /qn'] question: why does the script add additional path starting from the directory where executed when proper path to setup.exe is already given? I have tried to throw install directory with content and started WPI.cmd from there even...result: "Windows cannot find 'C:\install\WPI\Install\applications\PerfectDisk7\setup.exe'" ..I thought this would be the least difficult part of the script Guess I'm missing something... EDIT: problem solved, I just have to assume that directory where WPI.cmd is located is CD root...also little bit confusing on homepage where there are 2 Install directories...
  14. Well, not a chance in hell I will plug that sp3 in...at that time the "Fritzchip" will be in more common and for sure Palladium/TC or whatteva they choose to call it will be fully implemented...(even though not activated and in it's full potential) And that IE7, hehe...whattaya think...MS resisting to use that new tech...wake up ppl! ..even 2003 server has that tech implemented already, still in a primitive form but that shows you where we are heading for you that don't know what I'm ravin' about: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/tcpa-faq.html
  15. That is quite possible if you modify your setup, I remove the whole IE shabang and ofcourse looses references in the registry in the process.. use this @ T-12 or anytime you see fit : Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.hta] @="hta_auto_file" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\hta_auto_file\shell\open\command] @="\"C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\mshta.exe\" \"%1\""
  16. Yup, I tried it in combo with minilogon...thought it would save me some resources...but not! Nice to look at but pulls more resources than ur regular XP shell..taken that you have got rid of all those gayinsh XP themes/effects crap.

Yup, from my experience 2003 draws some 10mb more in commit when idle...but, far more effective when using memoryresources. When I compare my ripped sersion of XP with 2003, XP comes out on top when it comes to "snappy performance"..but allways looses when moving files and other memoryintense activities. Kinda lost interest in pokin' in my 2003 experiment after a while, also now when the x64's is rollin out it's the same stuff "under the hood" on both XP and 2003. ...so the gain of using 2003 is in a performance point of view is not that obvious anymore But still my Celeron 400 laptop with 128mb runs smoother on 2003 than XP ..haven't plugged my last whopper-XP in though, no CD or floppy makes it kinda complicated to plug in a modified OS (uses RIS/PXE for install) just my 2 cents..
  18. I recommend that anyone playing with WPI read THIS, especially the two sentence blurb on compatibility. Also, I am a little confused: you say you are "showing Internet Explorer script errors" but you also say you are using FireFox, not IE? I'm not a Firefox guy, sorry for that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heh, and I have been at this for an hour or two...using Firefox is a no-go...I just learned EDIT: all you actually need is mshta.exe and a regentry to be added @ T-12 or when found suited...use this : Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.hta] @="hta_auto_file" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\hta_auto_file\shell\open\command] @="\"C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\mshta.exe\" \"%1\""
  19. Nice! Now there is some nice piece of code..wish I could ..and for others reading, if you wanna DISABLE netbios tcp/ip just change "REG_DWORD /d 1 /f" to : "REG_DWORD /d 2 /f" or wanna set to DEFAULT change to : "REG_DWORD /d 0 /f" ..beautiful solution..
  20. hmmm, from my own experience I could tell you that there are quite a few "issues" surfacing when messing with XP's provided modemdrivers. In my "hobbie" of pokin' and ripping XP I have stumbled on a few modemrelated components that one might think would not be needed on a setup or install.....but I have seen BSOD on first boot, refusal of install when modemcomponent missing, + other issues that I can't pinpoint. A dodgy road I would say..
  21. UhOh..., I've made an blunder...those values are Interface-specific...NIC that is.. I guess you can take that value from your reg and paste it in, but then it wouldnt be of much help if installing on other machine.. sorry bro
  22. Here ya go : Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\NetBT\Parameters\Interfaces\Tcpip_{8842DE70-9816-4831-88D1-B345A1AB2EF3}] "NetbiosOptions"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT\Parameters\Interfaces\Tcpip_{8842DE70-9816-4831-88D1-B345A1AB2EF3}] "NetbiosOptions"=dword:00000001 save as whatteva.reg and insert @ T-12 or RunOnceEx.
  23. If you grab the Application Toolkit från MS (free)..you can emulate an XP and install anything you want...It's just a matter of getting past by that OS checker in the install and then your just fine
  24. I say only: Palladium, TC ..or whattevva they named it to.. No way I'm using that ¤#%#%% of OS
