  1. I have tried other firewalls like norton, and avg. But they are incredibly annoying and pesky, I get popups all the time, almost always false alerts too. With windows firewall I sometimes have to unblock a new program once, and that's it. It doesn't bug me all the time so I can get along with it.
  2. Well I don't see why phreeze would explain each step but then leave one out. I mean usually when people post how to do something they say how to do it all instead of leaving out an entire critical step. I guess that's what confused me. Luckily this last time I followed the directions in his posting on the 2nd page which had the extra instuctions so it worked.
  3. No I did not because I didn't see where it said to do that. Anyways I tried yet again this time I did like the last post where you pub sataraid folder into $1\DRIVERS\ instead of OEMDIR, on x64 this time and it worked. So I guess I did something wrong for x86 before and the first post method doesn't work at all for 6.66 drivers.
  4. I don't get it, this just doesn't work. I tried it again on x64 and followed the directions in your first post EXACTLY. Then when windows is first starting up (press F6 to install RAID drivers, etc.) that part of the install, it says "cannot find nvatax64.sys, press any key to restart your computer"
  5. I've never had any trouble getting the mini mode to work. I used this slipstreamer too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How did you do it? Did you use the updates as well? For the slipstreamer, just incase, do you have to extract the mp10setup.exe file, or leave it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You leave it in exe format. And yes I used booggy's update pack as well if that's what you mean.
  6. I like Avast! 4.6.691 Professional. Works great for both 32 bit and 64 bit.
  7. Diskeeper I really want a 64 bit defragger though, I wish diskeeper would make one. Whoever does I will love them and purchase their product. <3
  8. SpywareBlaster 3.4 Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4 Ad-Aware SE 1.06 Microsoft AntiSpyware 1.0.615 Beta Webroot Spy Sweeper 4.0.3 'Nuff said.
  9. Darn I already did Null vote, now I can't vote for CCleaner.
  10. Building your own is always good, but since we're talking about prebuilt computers I would have to say Alienware. Dell, compaq, and others are very tough to upgrade and sometimes they even put funny notches in the ram just to force you to upgrade through them. They use low-quality parts oftentimes. So I would say Alienware is the best. They are very expensive but at least they use quality, name-brand parts and are as easy to upgrade as a system you build yourself. My brother bought an Alienware and all the parts are good. Western Digital hard drive, ASUS p4c800-e deluxe motherboard, ATI vid card, intel processor, Corsair XMS ram, PC Power and Cooling power supply, cooler master fans, etc.
  11. ****! I seem the onlt person on earth who haven't heard of CC! any means of adding CCleaner to the Poll? : <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hehe, just manually tally up the votes. and try out ccleaner for yourself
  12. LOL, xoftspy is absolute crap. It is listed as a fake spyware remover. It detects and removes very little to no spyware, but gives you a whole bunch of false positives to get you to purchase it. They make you think it's spyware but it isn't. I recommend you uninstall xoftspy and don't recommend to anyone else. My personal favorite anti-spyware product would have to be spy sweeper. Even though I have spybot and spywareblaster's protection; spy sweeper still easily removes spyware cookies as I get them. Only downside is it costs money, but still a very nice program.
  13. I say x64 Professional. It's 64 bit of course, and is similar to server 2003 which is good, and better than x86 pro imo.
  14. Definitely CCleaner. Why would that be left off the poll.
  15. I've never had any trouble getting the mini mode to work. I used this slipstreamer too.
  16. Thank you! Starting DCOM service fixed the problem. thanks again
  17. Right at the beginning, when windows is copying files it says "can't locate nvatabus" or something like that and it fails to install.
  18. Well I didn't want to have to use beta 4, but this did work for me.
  19. The InstallShield Engine (iKernal.exe) could not be launched. The RPC server is unavailable. That's the error I get when starting the install program. Any thoughts?
  20. I tried it on 32bit xp and it didn't work. Haven't tried it on 64bit yet.
  21. Unless you are getting a really good deal on the Winchester try to get a Venice, it is a superior core. 1. Yes 2. About the same 3. This is from the notes on the catalyst x64 driver download page: WDM Capture Drivers are not included at this time. ALL-IN-WONDER products and VIVO products use the WDM Capture Drivers included with the Operating System.
  22. Yes Yes, there is an update pack here: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=282 But if you want to integrate them yourself with nLite then go to that link and look up the different KB numbers and download the hotfixes. They are installed silently during windows install I believe.
