  1. I wonder why MS's Bluetooth stack is so crippling. Apple on the other hand seems to have done a better job from my experience.
  2. And dont use caps when typnig messages....very rude!
  3. Stop gettying hyped and read the info posted on the web. There is a 33% increase in performance over 2x SLI...not worth it at all if you think about it.
  4. Actually scratch my last post. If you get a PCI card and I am assumign this is a desktop it would work.
  5. And I would recommend to not cheap out on the RAM. Get a gig and you will never regret it.
  6. Wow thats great to hear. I wonder if ewido would have been able to clean the mess up.
  7. I vote for building your own. But then out of the OEms I would vote for alienware and dell as a tie and voodoopc. Voodoopc comes a second though because even compared to Alienwares the price is ridiculous. However they do offer options for 2x Opteron 280s and that makes it performancewise numero uno!
  8. XP is quite ok to run on older machines. all you need is a fast hard drive and most of the lag time will be taken care of. Memory would be great as well. I have an old HP P3 500 mhz bad boy. IT has 256 mb of ram a geforce 2 64 mb vid card and while it doesnt exactly keep up with the other high end machines, it holds its own for everything you can throw at it. This is not nLited btw. If it is nLited I can see it unleashing more performance and that is quite impressive I think. XP is bloated I agree but it is quite friendly on the hardware.
  9. Cleartype makes fonts a lot easier to read and I have it at 1920 x 1200...my lcd resolution.
  10. When you say the CPU is totally taken up by the service...are you tlalking about that CPU graph? If so then have you tried some free online scans like those from Panda, and Trendmicro? Those are the only 2 that i know of. Try them out. Then post aback to and let us know if they got the bug or not. Also give www.ewido.com a shot. That is one badass software.
  11. What ripken said. There is no way the 9600 is going to run FEAR at playable graphics and framerates.
  12. Yeah didnt think about Linux being FOSS Cant believe I missed that!
  13. Laptops all the way especially that ultra sleek one from Vaio!
  14. Never heard of that guy but I have my messenger service disabled...just to let you know and I didnt need a utility to do it. The thing is though I honestly think that there is a backdoor in XP. I think it is left there intentionally for the US government to spy on whomever they like. I think the Patriot Act is quite evident of that. Like for example encryption schemes that are available for free for the Joe user to download and encrypyt his/her communications. You really expect me to believe that the researchers working for the government dont have a key to open up all the encryption schemes employed by end users? I think MS has had to leave a backdoor open as prob does Linux and other operating systems. Of course I dont have any facts to back up my argument other than look at the current administration and consdier if my idea is as far fetched in reality.
  15. The effects in the game are more impressive than the graphics honestly. In that respect Splinter Cell 3 had the better look and feel of sucking you into the game. FEAR does not do that for me for some reason. I dont mind getting the snot scared out of me and FEAR does it for me. So does DOOM 3 come to think about it. The atmoshphere was quite palpable in D3...**** I got scared!
  16. Check out Raven Shield, Rogue Spear, Ghost Recon Gold Edition...those are quite badass. I hated Counterstrike...
  17. Yep HL3 will be most like the peunultimate relesae when everybody knows what is going on. HL2's atmosphere is what gets to me and their characters as well...especially the gman and where Gordon was ever since the first events at Black Mesa. I hope they use a new engine for HL3...HL2 is beautiful but UE3 demos are far far more impressive....obviously cause it is newer!
  18. Yeah it is ridiculous the amount of money one needs to spend to keep up. Consoles are great for noobs I think but not for pure gamers. Consoles dont have the element of reality too much in them. For example Ravenshield was horrible on PS2. I also like the flexibility of a keyboard/mouse combination better. Also it goes without saying PC graphics are way better. Now the Cell setup is different however, if the reviews and the rumors are true of its capabilities. That machine will remain a badass console for a looooong time.
  19. I hate jaggies. But when I played HL2 @ 1920 x 1200 on my laptop there were no jaggies at that high of a resolution. At least I didnt notice any. I had AF enabled to 4 x and no AA cause honestly it didnt seem like I needed it. But I do agree in a lot of games the boon of SLI besides the extra fps is the more important fact of running insane AA and AF modes resulting in higher IQ. That is the most important function I think...to make the games look insanely good. That siad howeve seems to be that ATI's crossfire implementation does a better job with IQ than does SLI.
  20. This is quite a handy thing to have. Maybe a sticky should be made.
  21. I agree with j0j0. I have experienced slow downs when using Panda AV or Norton but never with NOD32. Honestly if it takes up a lot of kernel resources that is fine by me as long as I dont experience any slowdowns unlike the other AVs. cluberti you could be right but I find it really hard to believe considering NOD32 is so light and it doesnt lag anything down.
