  1. I am of the same opinion as well. Vista is going to be a pile of rubbish. Who in their right mind would upgrade to Vista?
  2. 7 zip...another utility besides winzip and winrar I believe.
  3. SOme of the changes are subtle but man they are nice! I reocmmended it to a couple close firends and they are all using it.
  4. I got it working. I like it. Its a great little tool/software. The icons definitely look a lot more professional and I like the startup and shutdown screens as well. Very nicely done! Excellent work!
  5. Thanks for the very fast reply XPero! I just am being very cautious right now since I am away from home and so I dont want to botch my XP installation because I cant afford to lose my work stuff....despite having backups.....just a headache i want to avoid. I will do as you suggested. Thanks!
  6. I love the way it looks. Is it like a one time transformation of XP? Does that mean I can remove XPize after it is done and get rid of the .NET framework as well?
  7. NEver used XPize...but I intend to correct that unfortunate mistake...so I am curious. If I install XPize I need to leave it running all the time? And also I am hesitatnt of getting the .NET framework and have it eat system resources just to run XPize...
  8. I got a copy of XP Pro that I have been itching to...just itching to install and stuff but I am not too sure when I will get the time for it...maybe this weekend! With nLite final out an everything this will be a very busy weekend setting up the new cd etc etc...thanks for all the great work nuhi! You rock!
  9. Honestly it would depend on what I would be doing with the computer. If it were to extend the life of the computer, I would go with a seriously nLite version of XP and that would allow me to run newer apps on it. I would possibly maybe upgrade the ram a bit more for XP to run better. I have an old P3 500 that runs a non-nLited XP and it works like a charm. I bet if I upgraded the ram to 512 it would get a huge boost in performance...and another jump would be if I upgraded the hard drive as well. I bet that is a rather large bottleneck right there. Amazing how fast the P3 really is despite being so old!
  10. Sweet have you guys seen some vids of games that are already using this technology? It is absolutely badass!
  11. Some info on Vista: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_vista and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Features_new_to_Windows_Vista There are definitely a whole boatload of new features in Vista I want to use but I do agree that the hardware requirements at the moment and the reponses from testers on the Beta and the delays and MS employees crying foul at their management seems to make that OS look quite horrendous. But I think it will be a great OS when it gets released. I am gona get a copy of it and upgrade to it I think if I get enough money to buy a copy of it LOL! I am tired of using XP...it is working great for me mind you but I want to be able to play the next gen Direct3d 10 based games for one!
  12. LOL funny how desperate Firefox users are to get people to download and use their browser. The man was asking a question if there was a problem with the IE 7 beta and a helpful post shows up "USE FIREFOX!" lol. I use FF myself occasionally but not on my own computer cause I honestly dont need it.
  13. arstechnica has been running a video made by MS to show off the benefits of Office 2k7 and boy am I impressed. It seems just **** easy to use! And intuitive!
  14. What is your system specs out of curiosity's sake?
  15. Interesting problem. Glad it got fixed though. May I ask why you are still using SP1 instead of SP2?
  16. I vote for SP2 meself. But make sure your comp is clean of any possible malware or you will suffer from problems. SP2 from what I read was an entire recompile of the XP code to make sure that a lot of flaws were weeded out. Not only will you get a very stable OS because I dont remember the last time my XP crashed. Also if you are worried about performance hits, I have yet to experience any.
  17. There is already a sweet version of an entire Office suite online check out http://online.thinkfree.com/index.jsp
  18. Some screenies would be great! What do you think?
  19. They are replacing the 7800 totally with the 7900. I think thats what they are attempting.
  20. Why do you store voice recordings of your phone conversations!?!??!
  21. Yeah I don't think that is legal either.
  22. I vote for the Ryan pack as well. There were some issues in one of the earlier versions of the packs but it seems that all has been taken care of.
  23. Also can you tell me what your specs are and what kind of a processor etc? I am running a 3.4 ghz Intel (I know I know) and it never has anything like that happen to it. But usally I close all apps before I put it to hibernate because lets face it hibernation is not really one of the strongest suits of Windows...unlike OS X which has always amazed me. My friend with his 17 inch Powerbook would just be taking notes in class and as soon as class was over boom he would close the lid and open it back up in the next class and he would tell me his comp was in hibernate....its near instantaneous and he never reboots his comp!
  24. I doubt n will be here even next year simply because America likes to do things differently than the rest of the world...and for some reason the frequency required for the n series of wireless, that is already being used so the specs are being rewrtitte and reratified so expect 802.11n taking off in the rest of the world whereas the US will be stuck implementing it a year after the rest of the world has it....
  25. What are you talking about? DO you even know what SP2 fixed and changed?! It is basically recompiled kernel code AFAIR so that buffer overflow errors were taken out of XP and it included SP1 and all fixes before it. It has nothing to do with graphics acceleration. You are blaming your problems on something that has nothing to do with graphics. Oh and SP2 added a security center and a firewall which can both be turned off with no problems.
