You dont need controller cards if you run 2 raptors in raid 0 but you would if you run 3 coz the nvidia raid controller sucks.

That is definitely a good score regardless. Yes I did pay a LOT more I am sure but I did not want to be stressing my components out to get high fps and all that by oclocking when I am using it regularly. I do want to oclock it and I think I might give ATI Tool a shot when the new version comes out of beta probably in the next month or so. I think I can break 21k.

I got a question for people who are running 3dmark06 in SLI. Did yall change your profiles to switch to AFR 2? Or leave it as default?

Dang that is impressive! My XP 64 bit with SP2 is around 234 mb for an image...to see Longhorn go that small is impressive!

I have had this problem before but with XP so I am not sure if this will help you 100% but there is an option to remove WMP 6.4 in XP and I never remove that unless I am going to update to the WMP 11. If I remove that for sure WMP wont install.

I dont think 12k is blisteringly fast...I have over 18k!

Come on people post more 3dmark06 scores! And please keep your ORB links so we can see the individual FPS for each section and individual scores. I do not put much stock in the overall score.

I think what vLite does is a lot more substantial than what he is suggesting. I think people have Vista Ultimates down to 750 MB and thats amazing this early in the game.

I would love to do water cooling but me scared! And me do not have the patience. I could hit 4.2 ghz on the CPU and get those vid cards cranked up real high and prob up to 25k points on 3dmark

Ripken mate I think you need a more powerful vid card Also may I suggest tighter memory timings? 4-4-4-12 is what I am running at right now and that sure boosts 3dmark scores at least for me by around 300 points.

Well first question is I have read that some of the versions work on XP64 bit with no problems. Is anyone running them on their system? Also whicn one would you recommend? The WinDVD price is quite appealing and at a guru3d review it seems to have a lot more features...any opinions and pointers would be much appreciated.

I went through that hassle recently so what I did was download the full standalone SP2. I first installed XP 64 bit on my intended machine...from the original disk. I installed nLite on there and integrated my nvidia x64 raid drivers and the SP2 into the OS image. Then I started stripping stuff out from the OS. With SP2 integrated my CD image came to around 234 MB. It could have been a lot smaller I am sure but I kept stuff that I wanted to use. Then I reinstalled XP 64 bit on that machine again after doing a format and voila it all worked smoothly.

Wow this early into vLite's development and vista is already shrinking to 750 MB?! Thats impressive for sure! I have my XP 64 bit with SP2 integrated and tweaked to the way I want to which is nowhere near as restrictive as I am sure a lot of members have...my image is 234 mb. What does Vista have to be taking up 750 mb?! Without an SP even!

Well looks like I got it going

I do believe other than Microsoft there will be no other entity that can provide a meaningful DX 10 version for XP. The underlying driver model has been completely changed and written from scratch as far as I understand and because of that and the inherent architecture of Vista, it would be impossible to get it to work under XP without a lot of effort. Sure it can be done but only Microsoft can pull it off and the way I see it there is no way that is going to happen. That sucks for people like me who refuse to use Vista. Maybe when SP2 for Vista is out and vLite is at like version 1.9 or something, and when there are awesome must have games for DX 10.x then I will grab a copy of Vista. Till then I am happy with XP 64 bit as long as it works grrrrrrrrr.......(**** 64 bit drivers)

I believe all the chipsets are Ralink chipsets. FOr some reason I am able to install the drivers properly...and then it works for a few seconds and then poof it just disappears from the system. Umm anyone have this issue before? I am at a loss....

I am running that very heatsink actually. I dont know what my temps are. What utility would be recommended to check that? I am not into oclocking that much so I kept things reasonable. I think 4.2 ghz on air is achieveable with an FSB of 1700 thats what anandtech reported I believe but after that even on liquid cooling it wont go up. A quirk of the 45 nm technology apparently.

Hmm no water. I dont intend to do water since setting up is SUCH a hassle and the case is a tight fit with all that gear in there!

I think I have at least another 2 thousand points I can easily extract from system from some oclocking so I can crack the 20k barrier but I dunno if I will attempt it unless....ripen you beat my score maybe...just maybe I will actually look into installing atitool and oclocking

I guess it is a morbid fascination I have with weapons...its just cool and I do like the tactical map view and using drones to sniff out the enemy and all that. And the explosions are fantastic! They have this whole explosion warp thing that you would see in the matrix movies and i love it I guess I am just a explosion/gun kinda video game person. And I ran 3dmark again with some oclocking attempt. My memory is at 4-4-4-12 timings @ 800 mhz and I bumped my FSB from 1333 to 1600 and dropped the multiplier to 8. For some reason the mobo keeps it at 8.5 which is fine by me so I have a 3.4 ghz processor clock speed. Got an 18.2k in 3dmark! Quite cool. Not that I can notice the difference any but I just wanted my memory and cpu to be 1:1. Neat stuff!

Agreed ripken! I have run one game so far and thats GRAW...and I have it maxed out at 2560 x 1600 and it runs without a stutter. It is pretty stunning! I was having lots of tearing issues which I cured by turning on vsync and that took care of that. I guess that just proves the rig has more than enough juice to max that game out. I gotta beat that game, then move on to GRAW 2 then R6 : Vegas...I will be busy for a while
