Web Fingerprinting Sees Through VPNs and Incognito Mode
D.Draker replied to msfntor's topic in Technology News
Yes, it says disabled for me, also. BUT it says I'm running a low res moniror 1920×1080 16:9! It's not true because it's NOT my Screen Resolution ! -
From my very long experience with various HDDs, a year is too short, I'd say refresh data every 2-3 years or so. IMPORTANT data needs to be on 3 different backup storages, also preferably use different locations (your second/third house, for example). If you have something to hide, then NOT your house, obviously. I even used to store data in a very humid enviroment (with the measures taken). BUT 12 years HDDs (if I read your post correctly, they were constantly on) - the only place for them is a dumpster, sorry, they aren't safe to store anything on them. Don't buy the new ones from Toshiba, and don't buy the ones that have the "new" crappy SMR tech, like WD60EFAX or any Toshiba model.

You mean the one that can't save your own pics directly to PC via USB without the need of tools and whatnot ?
-
Maybe off-top, so sorry in advance ! I'm just curious why would a PDF programme need a special service to run ? Is it related to its copy protection ? Is there a portable version ? Legal portable.

It was not yet implemented in XP. Only with Vista. With XP one would need a special programme, like the famous German Ashampoo. Here's the link to the free 2.0, I have no XP to test in on, but from what I remember, version 1.0 worked good. https://ashampoo-startup-tuner.software.informer.com/2.0/

Yes, Swedish VPN worked, sorry, no German at the moment. What about the well-known German Ashampoo then ? If my memory serves me well, it also had an XP startup manager. no ? That being said, I had XP only for a very short amount of time.

FREE VPN Tools to Fight Internet Censorship
D.Draker replied to msfntor's topic in Networks and the Internet
First and foremost - start looking for VPN with NO-logging policies and (obviously) outside of russia, cuba , etc. Then look who is the owner and where it is registered. Off-shore islands are the best. Do not use German VPN, from what I read, they are demanded to write and store logs by the German law ! Don't get me wrong though, I love Germans ! -
From what I understand, thay have a conflict with Video drivers. If you don't game, they work. But even old games from 2003 will lead to BSODding.
-
You're better off without that self-ported Brazilian USB drivers ! I downloaded them here, they were made a member from Brazil. I had terrible troubles (BSOD 124). That BSOD had happened many times and killed my MOBO, but only while gaming. Under GPU load. The mobo still somewhat works (for easy tasks), but when I start games - BSOD. Tried the drivers on another mobo - also BSOD !

In this precise case, my ISP provider has nothing to do with it, I'm blocked by that chinese company (their server blocks me from viewing the page itself, but the connection is established). I'm sorry you had terrible experiences with French IPs. It's not France that blocks, it's the companies that don't want to see the French on their websites. In France we have Freedom Of Speech, Freedom Of Choice. In Vichy, especially ! For me, it would seem rather weird to use VPN just to obtain legal soft from a legal (?) website, so my opinion about the shady company stays. But thanks for your time !

FREE VPN Tools to Fight Internet Censorship
D.Draker replied to msfntor's topic in Networks and the Internet
I'm not quite familiar with the others, but browsec is a well-known KGB data mining tool. Browsec logs your data, and it’s based in Russia. Besides , even in paid version !: It doesn’t support P2P, It doesn’t support Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney+ Source : https://www.vpnmentor.com/reviews/browsec/ EDIT: Maybe the other suggested VPN providers need a proper research too ? Add reviews from trusted sources ? -
This is indeed very ON-topic - since I can't even visit the link you provided ! Not to mention the download is also blocked . I find it strange ! Here, take a look at the screengrab.

Could be some sort of a time bomb because the company dissolved itself 4 years ago. I had some similar weirdness in the past . Another question, who still runs the website, if the company dissolved itself ? Perhaps they just re-registered themselves back to China, after years of being in GB !??! Too many questions to risk with it. And one more to add - I'm blocked on their website with my REAL French IP ! Why !??!? Too many questions.

Thanks, yeah it had to be said, I'm tired of that trio of users saying hi to each other every day and then placing each other upvotes for their ego-boost, it looks very silly and spammy ! I used the Italian antivirus on my girfriend. She is my testing grounds. The amount of time it was used is very short. but I can say it's very light-weight, I know for sure because she runs on a very cheap Pentium CPU I bought for her on sale for 45 Euros in 2017. Pentium G(smth) - Kaby lake with fake cores. The one they use in office machines only.

Very important to check if your user agent spoofing works ! New "feature" to check your real UA is called client hints, https://browserleaks.com/client-hints -
I have a question (not intended as a mockery), why you just won't upgrade the engine yourself ? As you may have noticed,I ignore your topics to avoid one enraged player and the home brewed "rules". I'll continue to ignore, don't worry, but it won't stop other people from posting regarding the ancient age of the browser, as we all see.

I guess not, at least I don't know anything about it. The forum has been mostly about XP and W11, at least for the last 2 years without you. I can share my solution regarding USB 3.1, I just bought several PCI-e and PCI boards from a well known Austrian manufacturer, I can tell the name of the store via PM. It has signed drivers . So for me it is solved. Tell Compa I'm starting to miss his weird humour.

Source code for chromium checker website (demo) by Thomas101 (German author) . Looks pretty legit. I kinda understand your rage because it's the only site that DETECTS the spinning disks "feature" on your favourite browser. It's called file system api . That crap spins up sleeping HDDs to scan the files. https://github.com/wavebox/chromium-checker-site

Dave-H is always fair, one of the many positive qualities I like and respect in Dave's character !

Perhaps you need to ask @win32 then, since the driver you used isn't mine, obviously. Nvidia Control Panel and CUDA/CUVID/DXVA/Physx and the others you want, they all work in the driver from my tutorial. On the other hand, I also checked his 398 driver and CUVID/DXVA/Physx definitely worked for me ! But then again, I have an ancient fossil , 8 years old GTX Titan X, a piece of crap for poor people. In win32's 398.11 driver I didn't try OpenCL, OpenGL, WebGL and Vuklan, since I never use them.
