  1. I totally understand you have your own way of things , so I'm just writing for the others to spare their time and support the previous poster . Of course , deep in my heart , I hope you will listen too . The 4.X.X range , for example 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 are in-place upgrade of 4.0, they overwrite files in the 4.0 folder during the installation , so there is no need to install them all. As you may (or may not) guess , this was not invented/implemented by me. And here's the official Microsoft's statement. Scroll to "in-place update". So one can easily install it over 4.0 and be done with it. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4054531/microsoft-net-framework-4-7-2-web-installer-for-windows P.S. By the way , congratulations on your first day won , you're here for over half of a year (only) , so this is a remarkable achievement !
  2. Hello , this topic is about Vista , so no discussion of any others like 6.1 . Do we really need to involve the moderators ? Hi , could you be more specific about your CPU model ? 'cause I don't have anything , even remotely similar to what you've just described. Today I had a chance to test on Pentium G4620 and everything was pretty much similiar to Haswell Pentium . Logon bug from time to time , yes , but rarely . Audio and licensing services may not start , yes , but rarely too. And the machine was quite usable. Services could be started manually.
  3. Banking sector is being heavily regulated by governments , right ? So write to the bank and demand to show you the >federal< law which clearly states that this form of identification is required. I'm guessing there will be none . As my understanding goes, your country is in the EU , so file a complaint to Brussels , BELGIUM . Also , I think we need to stop being on their leash . Today we do what they want , tomorrow it will identification by DNA , have your tried using ordinary paper money ? Official links and info from their page below : "EU policy areas with a direct effect on the rights of European consumers, such as banking..." https://ec.europa.eu/info/policies/consumers/consumer-protection_en You have the right (Article 227 TFEU) to submit a petition to the European Parliament : http://ec.europa.eu/justice/citizen/index_en.htm If you consider that the European Commission has not dealt with your request properly, you may contact the European Ombudsman(Articles 24 and 228 TFEU). http://www.ombudsman.europa.eu/home.faces
  4. That's what I was talking about , as you can see , not only games are affected . I had started to notice such things when the first line of i3/i5/i7 arrived . Some of my progs just started to throw errors or won't launch at all. It was 10 or 11 years ago , I'm not sure I'll remeber which programs exactly , but debuggers and stuff like that don't usually like i3/i5/i7. I just bought a Pentium , problem solved . But nowadays Pentiums are stuffed with something that makes then behave like i3/i5/i7. Also some similar problems arose for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hooking . You may want to try this bug on a plain and simple Haswell Pentium. But what about 32-bit Vista which loads perfectly fine ? It doesn't use this "timer " too ?
  5. The aforementioned driver (the one he claims to have modified for Vista usage) is still present and the kernel too. This driver is the same as ofiicial , except he replaced a couple of digits in the inf file.
  6. I'm not sure what "vast amount of info" you mean , win32 has confirmed that the kernel belongs to him , and I confirm that the drivers are fake , I tested them myself . He didn't do anything himself , except for tonns of misspellings.
  7. Before ?! Then why didn't you tell us here ? I thought I was the first to discover. That person had written "This link will be of all my vista assets that includes a new kernel For Vista Users" . "my" .
  8. Strange question . Did you actually read the page ? How am I supposed to know "who" he (or she) is ? I just found that page when I was looking for Intel Haswell HD Graphics drivers , by pure accident . And that person claims to have made them too , in addition to the "new kernel" , funny , huh ? ..... noooot . Actually it is stealing . Don't you wanna do something about it ? Oh , sorry , they "didn't kill you dog or smth" . Relax, I'm just joking. But I really think something needs to be done. @win32 and what do you think ?
  9. Hello, I don't know about this exact model , but I was getting an instant BSOD with XP 32 and XP 64 bit on my Haswell notebook . I had tried all available Intel video drivers for XP. I'm pretty sure XP is fine with Haswell systems if you add a discrette videocard that supports Vista / XP and disable Intel in the BIOS . Yes , in some mobos you need to do it manually.
  10. I've done this already , as soon as I found it . I think the author wrote about the "z" , strange why he didn't notice . Anyway , I've tried that driver , I'm getting a blank black screen on my Haswell notebook . And an instant BSOD with XP 32 bit.
  11. Maybe you'll try to write to this person ? And scroll down to the comments , some other links are there.
  12. Someone claims to have "a new kernel For Vista" . Beware , an advanced English ahead . https://steamcommunity.com/app/498240/discussions/0/143388132201481545/
  13. Someone claims to have the "Logon Process Initialization Failure" for Haswell fixed . Beware , a very good English ahead . https://steamcommunity.com/app/498240/discussions/0/143388132201481545/
  14. This is definitely needed ! I myself do not use much of updates , almost none , though I have never encountered any troubles with DX11 Windows6.0-KB971512-x64-directX , Windows6.0-KB2117917 (didn't notice any improvements at all) , KB4467700 , suggested by @win32 , it was needed for testing the kernel , somewhat OK , felt like sound became better , but at the same time boot time went from 9-11 seconds (with SP2) to 12-15 on Xeon X5450 , 16GB RAM DDR3 , Nvidia GTX780 , Chipset Intel q45 . Net framework 4.5.1 is the best in my opinion . I had huge problems with 3.5.1 , 4.6.0 , 4.6.1 , 4.6.2 and everything after . For example , Power DVD and other products from Cyberlink simply quit after several seconds if any of those installed. Worked only with 4.0 or 4.5.1/2 . Well , now it doesn't matter 'cause I after testing I decided not to use PowerDVD or anything from Cyberlink at all , because they simply can't bypass DTS HD MA and TrueHD to my receiver, while free programmes can.
  15. Have you ever heard of KB977675 ? "The issue occurs because of a deadlock between a thread in Windows NT File System driver (Ntfs.sys) and a thread in the Autochk.exe program." I have something similar (from time to time) with Haswell and SP1/SP2 , I can summon task manager and just start the explorer , though. I wouldn't say it bothers me a lot , but sometimes it just hangs up or shows this "famous" logon failure. I'd like to add , RTM is much less affected. https://www.thewindowsclub.com/microsoft-releases-fix-for-windows-vista-black-screen
  16. Warmest greetings from Europe ! Do you have experience with .lua coded games too ? Thanks
  17. Wow ! This is just wow ! Fellow members , where are your likes !? Win32 , by pure x86 Vista you mean RTM ?
  18. So you've just confirmed everything that I wrote , you need to look at >supported devices list< first , about "nv_dspi.inf" it was a simple typo , not sure why you even brought that up if you already found that device in officialy >supported devices list<. About "beleive" , supported devices list is the official Nvidia statement and absolutely true . About your laptop , you need to make sure that it DOESN'T have OPTIMUS tech., since it won't work with Vista at all . And I think that it DOES . And all future laptops you're gonna buy , just make sure they don't have optimus too , or try to find a modded BIOS , where it is disabled . But it is recommended for advanced users only.
  19. Well if you have doubts , you can download the driver , extract it with 7zip and look up for >supported devices list< and/or in the >.inf< file to make sure . It's usually located in nv_dspi.inf . Also , you completely forgot 700 series , which are 100% compatible and best , in my opinion , even better than 900 series , I'm not talking abour raw power , it's about their visually quality and , for example much better AA . Also , don't forget about the legendary GTX 780M , which is faster than GTX 680MX and not that slower than 980M (in real life scenario). If you want my personal experience , my girlfriend once had a laptop with GTX 780M and it worked perfectly fine with Vista , using driver 344.x.x (do not remember the exact value). But do NOT buy laptops with OPTIMUS feature , otherwise you won't able to use your GPU completely ! I won't double post , just search for "optimus not working with Vista" or smth similar. Ask, if you have more questions , don't forget to like.
  20. The best GPU for laptops/notebooks (it's how we call them in Europe) that has official drivers from Nvidia for Windows Vista (both x64 and x86) is GTX 980M https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/102379/en-us https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverresults.aspx/102378/en-us
  21. Yes , this may very well be true . I would strongly advise against replacing it , esp. for those who love HD content. As you all know , Win 7 is just so much worse in terms of h264 files playback , and pretty much everything else. They look washed out , pale , etc. And for those who simply can't live without firefox, why not do it locally ?
  22. VLC 2.2.x UN-patched with beautiful Vista buttons , now with these high quality pictures , which I spent some time to deliver , I assume one can see that patching is only a 50/50 solution at best , and I really hope this will help TCHEGEEK to finally notice the difference on his display . By the way , @TECHGEEK , have you ever considered writing to the developers of VLC directly ? I mean with your advanced skills of communicating with other people , I guess they will finally shed some light on what's really going on .
  23. VLC 3.0.12 patched
  24. VLC 3.0.12 UN-patched
  25. An unknown ancient wiseman once told "First they will insult you and/or your language , then they will kill your dog , then {one could guess}" Most of you were so busy beating this poor new guy up {what is it , some sort of a tradition?} , but no one bothered to comment on the link he sent, regarding the error with that function. Search that page for "RtlUTF8ToUnicodeN" , without quotes.
