Here , lemme hep you with the topics , don't thank me , just enjoy. "Software compatible with Windows Vista Extended Kernel". By WinClient5270, July 19, 2020 in Windows Vista https://msfn.org/board/topic/181696-software-compatible-with-windows-vista-extended-kernel/page/ "Best windows vista anti-virus". By winvispixp, January 14, 2021 in Windows Vista https://msfn.org/board/topic/182285-best-windows-vista-anti-virus/ Refusing to use KGB software doesn't necessarily mean one is not interested in security . On the contrary. And here are no reports about non-KGB software "crashes" with this Kernel. Only Kaspersky has this problem.

I tried it (the .dll) and I didn't experience any crashes , thanks again , win32 . Though, I agree that personal experiences may vary (different hardware) . I'm running quite ancient hardware (by the modern day standards). One PC is with some old Quad Xeon (circa 2009-2010) and another with one of the first Haswells. I already told you and the others : Kaspersky crashes are it's "normal" behaviour , you can search and read it yourself , so we can't be sure whether the dll is faulty or not . As for me , I trust win32 and his experience and I see the dll is working fine. All I'm trying to say , test the DLL with NORMAL software , not that KGB "something" . I'm not sure with what to respond to your topic, since I already suggested mallwarebytes or the brain.exe. About chrome , for me it's just running without any mods with this kernel , there are a lot of folks here that use it too. If firefox works for you , chrome should work too. But you need 64 bit version . Make sure you are running chrome x64.

1 - I shan't discuss anything about "performance" of any KGB related software since I've clearly made my point, besides we don't know who's behind those "labs". 2 - Please discuss "antivirus" programmes and make their comparison in the appropriate topic. (not here, obviously) 2 - Newest programmes that work with Vista's ex-kernel by @win32 . Just to name a few : Chromium , Opera , Centbrowser , Chrome , Firefox and it's forks , Chromium Ungoogled , I've also read about TOR ( though I haven't tried it myself, but it should work too, since it's based on Firefox) , newest FFMPEG , 4K Stogram , Grids (quite popular desktop versions of instagram) , Aiseesoft Screen Recorder , Minecraft , Scrap Mechanic , Cemu , plenty of modern games that use Mono engine, quite a few of modern DX11 titles that use Unity. Again , I really don't understand what you were trying to say . It sounds like you're not satisfied with this jaw-breaking progress regarding the ex-kernel. And why did you even mention Win7 ? This topic is about Vista , for true Vista lovers. And no, our ship "is not sinking" . Are you trying to devalue win32's work ? It's just fabulous ! He's just fabulous ! We all should be grateful ! Perhaps you (yourself) can help him with the work ?

1 - Do not build high hopes for those newly developed custom made drivers , I just think it won't happen . Or they will be glitchy as hell . It would be much better to buy something from 700 (or 900 series, if you're okay with the absence of AA) and put it on the shelf for the future use . 2- Yeah , I got you the first time , about your Titan. BTW , I tried Titan Black , and I didn't like it , even though it's from the same series . The chip is different , the picture is not as good as the original. Also , it had troubles with idle mode with any drivers starting from 350.xx. Have you ever tried your Titan with Vista ? I tried mine with XP , the picture quality is good , chrystal clear and sharp . With windows 7 it's ugly . (Obviously not the Titans, but Windows 7's fault).
-
In real life scenario it looks bad to my eyes. I just love CSAA and how it performs. I had to return GTX 1080 to the store since I didn't like the picture quality (overall , not only the absence of CSAA) and I felt scammed by Nvidia , they just removed CSAA for no apparent reason, without notifying. I don't and shan't buy any new Nvidia products if they are going to continue producing GPUs without CSAA and without support for Windows Vista. They've lost a good , loyal customer . I supported them with almost every new release since the early 2000s. And had bought top tier cards . Like 8800 GTX , 9800 GTX ++ , GTX Titan , GTX780Ti , etc . I compared my original GTX Titan with GTX 1080 and and Titans just wins . It's simply more beautiful. Someone here wrote that 1000 series cards are rubbish , I agree.
-
I see . Gaming without fans ramping up is comfortable , I agree. TITAN X doesn't have 16x and 32x CSAA , as far as I know. How do you live with that ? I still have the original TITAN from 2013 and it has 32x AA, pretty nice for gaming.
-
Thank you for the info ! Pehaps you know where one can compare the hashes ? The original and this one.
-
Any other solutions other than using executables from Kaspersky's website ?
-
Please name a few.

I'm not even sure what you were trying to say . I do not know what to answer, since the choice is obviously his (free or not). I was going to ignore , but suddenly I felt like that KGB programme doesn't raise any flags to you too. Excuse me if I'm wrong, in advance . I mean KGB programmes shouldn't be used at all , even if there are no other alternatives, period. Except for the KGB officers themselves (I guess) , but something tells me even they do not use goods/stuff manufactured in Russia. As for my advice , I already gave it elsewhere (where it was appropriate) . Other (non-KGB) programmes work absolutely fine with this kernel, so not disturbing win32 would be a brilliant idea. And I won't go off-topic because I respect win32 and his marvellous work. https://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2012/07/23/kaspersky-lab-has-kgb-ties https://www.healthcareitnews.com/news/kaspersky-controversy-us-intelligence-heads-warn-not-trust-russian-security-company-kgb-trained https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yevgeny_Kaspersky https://thenewamerican.com/trump-boots-putin-s-kgb-tech-guru-kaspersky-out-of-fedgov-computers/

So you just proved my words again , with 5 tabs opened 726mb versus 957mb with 13 version. I think it's a big difference for his system with only 2GB of RAM, and if he needs a fairly modern browser (obviously not from 1996) , downgrading from 13 would be a good choice . Also, he can search for flags that can be disabled to reduce RAM usage . I'd suggest these , they are very good for low-end systems , hence the name , obviously : --enable-low-end-device-mode --enable-low-res-tiling

With all due respect to XP , I just don't understand why would anyone need to use 1000 series cards in combination with XP. There are simply no games that would run on XP that require powerful GPUs at all. I think even GTX780 is way over the roof . My advice would be purchasing a used GTX680 and be done with it ! There are really good drivers for that card available for windows XP (prob. free).

kaspersky was made by a known KGB officer , doesn't this bother you ? Well, read the experts , besides it has nothing to do with the ex-kernel itself, the programme is glitchy as hell , you can use translate and read articles by ordinary russian users that encountered those similar problems. If you you're so afraid to get infected by evil viruses , just use mallwarebytes 3.5.1 . "My firm is recommending that our customers, who largely are financial companies, uninstall Kaspersky AV." — Dave Aitel, Immunity Inc.

It's a well known Axiom that with every newer version chrome consumes more and more RAM. But if you think otherwise , you're very welcome to help that poor guy yourself . In real life scenario people with low-end hardware solved their problems downgrading to 11 or 12 , but yet again , I do not use the browser myself , I'm not even sure why I was asked in the first place . My post here was related to the telemetry that was left by the russians (on purpose or not , I can't say) and some piece of advice (hints) on how to remove it. So it supposed to serve as word of warning to the fellow members.

What a coincidence ! I had been scammed too . And that man turned out to be a "lawyer" ! Who would've thought !? And I feel like I was scammed by HP too , when their expensive laptop went bad in 2007 (after 1 year of light usage). On topic , I think it's still not a problem to obtain a legal Vista DVD , I've seen some cheap retail versions (on the well known auction) . Also , if you have a branded PC , just buy cheap OEM installation disks , it is 100% legal , just make sure the manufacturer matches the logo. I still have all of the original Vista DVDs OEM (supplied with the Siemens and some other of my PCs ) and they activate themselves without a problem. Oh , and gotta have the sticker too. If you need service packs , they can be installed later.

Hi , you should have mentioned me with a tag , like this @Dixel . To answer your question , I think it's just not enough RAM (I'm guessing because you didn't tell me the exact version you use). Version 13 is more RAM huhgry . Try 12 or even 11. Also , I think you know that you have to use a repack version , and not the original chinese version. And block all inbound connections with your firewall. Things you may wanna try - increase your page file size , add more RAM , try using a dedicated GPU . Under advanced settings in 360 choose "Always use webkit kernel" and UNcheck "Use hardware acceleration when available".
-
Sadly, it didn't help me, installed both symbolas from your link, but still seeing weird rectangles. I'm on a new chrome.
-
It's NOT the flag I advised ! I don't know what (don't read) google writes to the ordinary users , but according to their own documentation it does what it says, besides you may wanna read more carefully what I write , you have mixed up the two different flags : " --process-per-site - Enable the "Process Per Site" process model for all domains. This mode consolidates same-site pages so that they share a single process. More details here: - https://www.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/process-models - The class comment in site_instance.h, listing the supported process models. IMPORTANT: This isn't to be confused with --site-per-process (which is about isolation, not consolidation). You probably want the other one."

yep !

I'm up for privacy , sorry.

They won't work with waterfox if you block remote fonts too.
-
You misunderstood me . For me it doesn't . I have NO smiles and most of the popup menus do not work, starting from the 1st of January 2021. Yes , I block the remote fonts too.
-
I have tried with java script turned on with chrome 88 . No difference ! And I'm not gonna install that pesky java "awesome" font .
-
I'm glad I could make you laugh ))) . If you need that 360 browser , I strongly suggest you do the manual editing of the aforementioned files and cut out the telemetry yourself . You need to look for IPs and domains , esp. ".cn" , ."gov" , ".ru" . Most of them are written in plain text ! Just replace "http" with "zzzd" or smth like that. Replace IPs with non-existent ones . You may as well look the source code of chromium ungoogled and cut out google too. And don't forget to like my posts . Best regards.
