What’s the best program for parental controls?
NotHereToPlayGames replied to Nikolas's topic in Android
And we have all but had folks here at MSFN "high five" the idea of their SONS having "relationships" with their FEMALE teachers. But then not even take a step back and rethink that "high five" if the roles were reversed and it was a DAUGHTER and a MALE teacher! We live in a society that makes up the rules as we go! -
What’s the best program for parental controls?

Every generation has to learn anew. We had to all but take InstaGram TO COURT over pics our daughter sent to one of her "boyfriends". Every parent has to learn this themselves. Her best friend landed herself in the Emergency Room for "cutting" her thighs all directly tied to "social media". "Social Media" really is the DOWNFALL of society!!! Again, there is no one-size-fits-all "do it this way" guide to parenting. -

Different kids need different rules. Different ages need different rules. Parenting isn't easy and it is never one-size-fits-all. -
What’s the best program for parental controls?
NotHereToPlayGames replied to Nikolas's topic in Android
And if the kid is a daughter? For my grand-daughter, we use a KID'S TABLET from Best Buy. We didn't have to "install" anything and didn't have to do any DNS "crap". The kid can only play the games that we install and watch only YouTube "channels" that we pre-approve. It's called an Amazon Fire and only cost $50 to $70 (down from $100 when we bought ours). But the grand-daughter is only THREE YEARS OLD. The OP didn't cite what AGE the kid is. No 9yr old would mature into adulthood tethered to an Amazon Fire. And no 14yr old wouldn't ditch their own parent-supplied device in favor of their unmonitored friend's "spare" given to them at school without either parent catching on for days, if not weeks or months. -

Blaukovith's ungoogled 128 would not launch for me. And not that it's really anyone's business (you know who you are), I need UNGOOGLED anything newer than v122 because as I have said over and over here at MSFN, for SOME REASON, cannot track down the exacts, but my bank works ONLY with UNGOOGLED v122, v123, and v124. NOTHING older. NOTHING newer. Same bank is reported on Brave Browser forums also. Regular Chrome works, but have no interest in Regular Chrome. Regular Firefox works, but have no interest in Regular Firefox. If something UNGOOGLED comes along that is NEWER than v122, v123, or v124 and WORKS FOR MY BANK, then quite frankly, why should I "care" if it was written for XP, or 7, or Vista, or 8 ???

Cool! I was unaware of these forks. Will be trying the ungoogled 128 over the weekend. Thanks!

I do not have a smartphone nor an Android tablet.

MultiMonitor Remember location and size
NotHereToPlayGames replied to Dariusz's topic in StartIsBack+
Here at work, I have three monitors (four at times). One is the laptop's display. Two (three at times) is through a Dell "docking station". Two of the docking station monitors do the same exact thing you describe (the laptop "forgets" which is which). This (for me) seems to be a Windows 10 (Enterprise 22H2) issue. So I suspect that StartIsBack+ is basically just stuck with a flaw of the underlying OS. -
Online banking does not require buying high-end hardware. But it does unfortunately seem to require newer than Win7 these days.

The above scores were with JIT disabled (Chrome/Chromium default). These are my scores with JIT enabled (which I don't mind the "security risk" this entails but that's because I have other mitigations). Speedometer 2.1 == 201 [with or without JIT, Ungoogled already scores higher than IceCat] Sunspider == 83.7 [faster than IceCat] Kraken == 840.0 [faster than IceCat] To be honest, I forgot all about JIT performance gains. I feel like my Ungoogled v122 just had its 2.2L K-car Era four-banger swapped out with a 392 SRT 6.4L Hemi V8.

Be sure to compare the exact same codec when comparing videos. I'm hit or miss in video department. I can get Chromium to be better, but Mozilla IS better "by defaults". Video playback is also a gigantic BALANCE. You can get awesome quality in Mozilla *if* you WANT the CPU to churn at 80% the entire span of the video. [I should add that I can *not* use Hardware Acceleration. My needs require being able to capture video-conferencing via "print screen" which does not work if HWA is enabled.]

Here are several that I have used in the past. Fast tests that don't drive my impatience through the roof - https://mozilla.github.io/krakenbenchmark.mozilla.org/kraken-1.1/driver.html http://proofcafe.org/jsx-bench/js/sunspider-1.0/driver.html https://browserbench.org/Speedometer2.1/ Slow tests that I do not have the patience to run very often - https://web.basemark.com/ https://browserbench.org/JetStream/ https://browserbench.org/MotionMark1.3.1/

Microsoft Teams classic no longer working on Windows 7
NotHereToPlayGames replied to ivanbuto's topic in Windows 7
The .css solution only works if you use a WEB BROWSER to use Teams. If you use the "download and install" APP, you're basically stuck. -

You need to create a Stylus (or similar extension) custom style sheet. -
What about testing in Speedometer 2.1? I've always tested using 2.1 largely in part to a very long HISTORY of using it and all scores LOGGED in a spreadsheet. I have several other benchmark "tests" that are also logged. I'll supply them this afternoon.

Awesome News! My Acer Aspire One install has hit a few driver issues. Once those are resolved, this device will be on Windows 2000 + Mypal. I remain VERY OPTIMISTIC that Mypal 68 will dethrone my DAILY need for Serpent 52 (which no longer works 100% for my needs in XP). -

I don't recall ever saying that I do not surf anymore under XP. Regardless, WHO THE H#LL CARES! Time for the OT Police. Let's get back to Mypal! Does the "custom buttons" extension need tested on a non-XP more-recent version of Firefox or not? -

Astro, if you wish to PM me, the single/multi-process toggle is the *ONLY* "custom button" I have any interest in testing/using. Aside from that, I concede to your authority regading "custom buttons". But if you/we/feodor needs this tested in non-XP, then I volunteer that service. -

Not the case according to GitHub's main page. Regardless, I HAVE THREE COMPUTERS HERE AT THE HOUSE STILL ON XP. No, they don't surf "daily", but they do need the ability to surf. I have just as much of an interest in the SUCCESS of Mypal as every other member reading this thread. -

I use XP !!! On three of my seven computers at home! The eighth computer (the Acer Aspire One POS) is actually getting Windows 2000 as we speak. It is my understanding that Mypal will eventually be usable on Win2k. I thought I read that somewhere. I have use for this browser and regret that you see otherwise. -

I'm sorry, but you are contradicting yourself. I want Mypal to PROGRESS FORWARD. None of us should want ONE extension (ie, Custom Buttons) holding back the FORWARD development of Mypal. You have SEVERAL posts in this thread that are quite MISLEADING. I for one THOUGHT you were testing in VERY LATEST and MORE RECENT versions of Firefox. Sad to say, but it is a bit MISLEADING to only NOW here that your die-hard XP use did NOT in fact test in any recent Firefox release. Carry on, of course. But please do not waste a DEVELOPER'S time with MISLEADING statements. I for one was MISLEAD. Maybe the developer was not. In which case, ignore everything I've just said, lol.
