    They are, but no laptop with compatible cpu and other drivers exists. These gpus came with 6th or 7th gen intel cpus.

    Why photoshop? I have 2020 photoshop on Windows 8.1 and it runs natively ok. Solidworks I have no idea, but if it uses direct x12, you should definitely take the same brute force way like I did, just try it, copy random files and it might work

      Not quite. I too like Windows 8's Metro, but I hate the Start screen. Add Aero Glass and Classic Shell and everything's going to look perfect!

      Well I like vanilla Windows 8.1 (not so much windows 8) including start screen etc.. Recently I started to use aero glass, but that's it. I like ribbon ui in windows explorer, I like squared off edges, I like how colorful the whole os really is.

      I'm on of the few who uses the startscreen, but I like the idea of having fullscreen apps (they should have really let people choose if they want to use start menu or start screen and windowed uwp apps should have been there too).

      I also like the metro UI (kinda) but hate the full-screen start menu concept and fulllscreen apps on a desktop.

    No, though the game has no checks for Windows 8.1 so it does let me select ray tracing. Whenever I select that, the game locks up. I need to sign off to gain control of my pc again then. I don't think rtx will be possible on non windows 10 computers, but I could be wrong.

    About the same as with windows 7 and its d3d12on7. getting 60 - 70 fps with rtx 2060 on medium. On windows 10 You can expect high at 60-80 fps. But this is just the beginning, I'm glad it started and runs reasonably ok. I don't have to use crapdows 10

    I'm happy to report, that Cyberpunk 2077 is playable on Windows 8.1 with this https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton/releases though I played for 2 hours and I experienced gpu hang once.

    Yeah, well I need to reinstall vista anyway. My installation is broken AF. it takes like 50 seconds to boot on ssd..

    My best guess is that we replaced the media foundation with files from windows 7, but not 100% sure

    @TECHGEEKMind if I ask if your dell laptop has fingerprint reader? Mine does have it, but I was not able to make it work in vista. Any ideas?

    why? win32 need to only understand missing api in ntdll.dll

    Can somebody please try bandicam with extended kernel? for me it is working without ex kernel, but not when I have it installed.

    To be honest you only need brain to stay secure. No matter what kind of OS you run. Microsoft is desperately trying to kill off Windows 7/8.1 They only do things to help windows 10 marketshare. Like releasing d3d12 for windows 7, but intentionaly crippling performance on windows 7. They even did not bother with the release for windows 8.1 Microsoft became really evil lately. They are hungry for marketshare since iOS beat them in USA.

    the ssd is sata. I was so desperate yesterday, that I took the computer home, made complete image of the ssd to my external drive and installed windows 7 to see what would happen. Os selection appeared on boot. I was happy only up until I tried to select Windows 8.1. (translating from czech now) "The required device cannot be accessed" or sometimes "Inaccessible boot device". My vm suggestion was denied so I guess I'm screwed now.

    Windows embedded industry pro 8.1 will give us 5 months.
