  1. I know about this method, but nvidia did something that prevents the driver to work properly.
  2. By the way, the only difference bewteen nt 6.1 and nt 6.3 section is this: %NVIDIA_DEV.2204% = Section165, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2204 %NVIDIA_DEV.2206% = Section165, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2206 %NVIDIA_DEV.2484% = Section165, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2484 %NVIDIA_DEV.2486% = Section165, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2486 = mine rtx 3060Ti unfortunately, modding the inf does nothing (code 43)
  3. I feel like I was scammed. Now I can't even use MY OWN hardware... it is artificial block. They should have at least let us install the windows 7 driver.
  4. Nvidia only blocks rtx 30xx series on windows 8.x rtx 2060 still works on the latest driver version.
  5. But that was also true for rtx 2060 yet the driver still included 8.1 anyways, I’ll probably downgrade my pc to windows 10 until I find solution to this
  6. I've uninstalled them using ddu, but the setup just wont go. stating "This version of windows is not supported". On windows 7 everything worked great. even the older driver from rtx 2060 got immediately picked up. I mean this is some serious letdown. I would not purchased the gpu if I knew that.
  7. Well, this is it? I'm seriously shocked. I guess my downgrade to windows 10 will be sooner than I expected. I got code 43 in device manager, nvidia said that my os is not supported. even modding the inf does nothing. https://prnt.sc/w9aogb
  8. Oh yeah, I’m working on it. Just glad, that it works for now to finish my transfer period to spotify. (Apple effectively lost paying customer). True indeed. Oh yeah, 3 clean installs of the os itself. The problem is, that the driver only installs through inf file. You cannot use compatibility mode and install it any other way. Amd made sure to block nt 6.2 and 6.3 everywhere they could. Also that is HUGE bs, because on the box for rx 480 Windows 8.1 is displayed and not whole year after this card has released, they dropped the support? My ryzen pc build is running rock solid though, nvidia drivers are just awesome, not a single bad word against them. Nvidia seems to care about windows 8.1 and I love them for that that was ax 200 (wifi 6 spec pcie card) and his respond to one of the person asking on their forum.
  9. also when I was browsing intel driver support, I found this:
  10. Well this is not as easy as you may think. Not only am I iTunes subscriber, I own iPhone 12 and iPad, and synchronization only works through iTunes. Well game developers are only seeing dx 12 for some unknown reason. They ONLY really care about Windows 10. I guess screw anyone using 7/8 or linux and MAC? Amd gpus no longer works stable enough on windows 8.1. I've tested rx 570 and vega 56 and browser acceleration did not work and I got some gpu hangs and driver crashes. It uses wddm 1.1 so... Until they fix their s***, windows 10 is unusable for me and I'll try to learn linux (altough I don't like many things on linux)
  11. I'm starting to understand that I'll never win the battle against windows 10. Since iTunes ended support, everything is kinda all over the place for me. For how long do you think will at least browsers and steam support Windows 7/8 ? also Nvidia can end the support soon. I'm fully aware that no-one except you guys here cares about older operating systems and it is really sad People are happy with telemetry filled, ugly looking, unreliable crapdows 10. I think 2021 will be the last year I'll be able to enjoy 8.1 before downgrading to windows 10 Discord is already complaining about screen share ("For the best experience, Please upgrade to windows 10").
  12. I think you need to use their software for calibration etc.. Does the older one works though?
  13. I actually don't. Just got the feeling of that from your previous post. I wonder now, if microsoft changed some behavior to resemble xp if haswell is running okay on both xp and 7 but not on vista.
  14. I'm not trying to prove, that it is unusable, just trying to help win32 locate when the problem started. Also my cpu is intel core i5-5300U since it is laptop, 16 missing drivers for vista sp2 makes this unusable.
  15. @win32 I suggest you to take a look on this build: Windows Vista build 5270 I managed to install it on my 3rd gen intel laptop (took 2 days, because it is really buggy) but I got logon failure simmilar to the Vista one, albeit I could not test more things due to missing drivers obviously. Maybe something has changed around this period. I can’t say really because any other build refused to install. 5048 was the worst one, I’ve never seen so many bsods trying to boot into preinstallation environment Edit: I’ve said 3rd gen, but I’ve meant 5th gen (idk how did I mislabeled them in my head).
  16. well that prevents me from installing windows 8.1 on it. She has 1920x1080 panel. so unfortunately she's stuck with crapdows 10
  17. Gotta try that. Mom has 8gb ram model and 128gb ssd, but it is still soooo slow.
  18. I can't access his mega link. can you?
  19. Alright, here is my take on this: I use Windows 8.1 since 2014. initialy I used Windows 8.0 on my laptop in 2012, but that was horrible... I only have 1 sample pc, so I can’t say that windows 8.0 is bad, but it ran super awful on that laptop. I was actually hating on windows 8 in 2013, because I didn’t like the metro ui (pretty ironic, because now that’s one of the main things I like about it). My main pc is now running Windows 8.1 with these specs: Ryzen 5 1600x 32GB DDR4 3 200mhz 500gb nvme ssd rtx 2060 (soon upgrading to rtx 3060 Ti) it is running well. Even though, that no official Windows 8.1 ryzen driver exists. This just shows, how good of an operating system windows 8.1 really was. My bloated os boots in 6 seconds. I have around 20 apps, that starts with the os. I had more bsod with windows 7 in 2 years than I had with Windows 8.1 in 6. Now let me get to something else. My mom has this office laptop that she uses for online shopping etc... it has pentium n4200 and it is more than slow on windows 10. How did you guys managed to get Windows 8.1 on that? Thanks
  20. I couldn't remove things from my desktop and documents folder for example. It was an isolated case though. Maybe reinstall would help?
  21. Thanks for the tip! I figured it out thanks to that. it was the file history or whatever it's called in vista. I enabled defender again and everything is working as it should. lemme get back to the trim though. Vista doesn't do it automatically? I mean I've never touched the trim option on w8.1 for like 2-3 years...
  22. Yeah, I know, but ram usage is not much different nowadays across operating systems. Just wanted to point out that even for internet browsing 8gb is minimum
  23. it wasn't, but it is now. No change, but there is one more process now "SVCHOST.EXE" is making I/O operations
