Yikes! Thank you for informing me of this! The site gave information of being based off Chromium 70 and did not provide info of a different version on XP!

Hello MSFN, As usual, I'm on another software search. Is there a per-volume sound replacement for Windows XP available? While using Windows XP, some applications don't have an option to adjust their volume and it can be a bit annoying. One of the few features I miss from newer Windows is control over each application's volume along with a native screen brightness utility. Thank you for your time.

Does anyone know whether flash player 11 works natively on Windows 2000? SDFox's archive: https://www.computing.net/answers/windows-2000/installing-flash-11-on-windows-2000-no-hacks-required/66322.html A hack required: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1012569 -
Hello, I'm wondering if there's an all-in-one update pack for Windows Vista (SP1 + SP2 + Platform Update + Supplement Update? + Frameworks + DirectX) If not, I was thinking maybe I could compile one myself (assuming the files are re-distributable). In theory, would it be difficult to simply compress the files into a smaller size, then find some program that will give an option list like PROBLEMCHYLD's unofficial Windows 98SE service pack, and have it automatically install from there? Windows Vista's lack of popularity makes it harder to find patches... https://msfn.org/board/topic/175262-last-versions-of-software-for-windows-vista-and-windows-server-2008/#comments https://msfn.org/board/topic/179810-download-links-for-all-vista-sp2-32-bit-and-64-bit-updates-from-windows-update/

Simple XP 32BIT 64Gb RAM (true Pae) Guide
FantasyAcquiesce replied to liquidLD's topic in Windows XP
Sorry to yet again bump this old topic... I'm wondering if someone could re-upload the 20mb file listed here. As usual, download links seem to die overtime on MSFN. I have a hold of the Chinese 64gb ram patch that's only a couple kilobytes, but I'm wondering if this one has any differences. Thank you! -
Windows Vista is literally the in between of Windows XP and 7; there are more modern features at the cost of less native backwards compatibility and higher system requirements. A couple examples are... -DirectX: Windows XP only supports 9 (unofficially a buggy 10), Vista officially supports 11. If your system needs newer things, use Vista over XP. -Web browsers: Windows Vista has a tendency to work with unsupported web browsers meant with 7 a bit more than XP. Although not much in practice. Qutebrowser is a notable example of working on Windows Vista 64-bit but not XP (forget which version, latest version doesn't seem to work...but I didn't install all Vista updates) There are a couple more conveniences Vista has that XP doesn't: -Built-in screen brightness adjuster -Sound mixer for individual programs Another random example of Vista working w/ Win 7 or later stuff that XP cannot do: -Resident Evil Remake works on Vista -Newer versions of Netframework work fine on Vista with some modifications Would I choose Vista over XP? Only if Windows XP is not stable with system drivers. Windows Vista has a tendency to more or less work with newer drivers than XP because its kernel is more similar to modern windows. I would advise Vista, if your system isn't super low-end.

Installing Windows XP on Bay Trail-M CPU
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows XP
This is such an odd pc. Windows 7 will install on my Dell Inspiron, BUT will reset upon booting (never gets past boot screen). Afterwards, I'm sent back to the menu whether I want to start Windows 7 normally or in safe mode... What could the problem be? -
Installing Windows XP on Bay Trail-M CPU
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows XP
Windows XP works nearly perfectly! Is there a way I can fix annoying rendering errors and momentary lag? For example, when I switch tabs, a bunch of glitched squares of the previous window/tab appear until the page has a second to load be interacted with. Textures can be missing for a moment... I might try upgrading to Vista or 7 and see if that fixes anything. Being stuck on DirectX 9 is a bit of a drag when playing PCSX2. -

It still can despite that. Unlike Windows 10, XP will actually keep itself dimmed when hibernating and won't turn back on randomly. -

Woo-hoo! My 23-q127c works perfectly with Windows XP, thanks to Damnation's custom mods! But I still have one tiny question.. Windows XP over Windows 10 any day!!! Will the lack of ACPI driver here potentially cause damages to the pc overtime? Just double checking! It's really odd my 2013 haswell computer (Dell) can't run Windows XP, but my 2015 (HP) one can... -

FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows XP
So far, I can confirm Damnation's custom ACPI.sys allows me to progress further in my 2015 desktop but not my 2013 one. I can only install XP on my 2015 desktop, then boot will give me BSoD. It's further progress than my 2013 desktop. -

Yikes, this program doesn't appear too user-friendly. Maybe it's just my eyes at 12AM being overwhelmed by the amount of instructions. I'll try looking at a youtube tutorial tomorrow and attempt this. Thank you for your time. Edit: I can also conform that the installations I made are not faulty. Ironically, my HP Pavilion 23-q127c will install just fine using the same usb installation...my AIO (Inspiron 20 3043) that refused to boot was a Haswell I believe. Ironically, my 23-q127c is about two years newer yet installs ACPI just fine...hmmm... https://imgur.com/a/mqOGj0e Perhaps I'll dual-boot Windows 10/7/xp on my other desktop. Edit 2: Okay, it installed on my other desktop then gave me the BSoD error...it claims it's not ACPI compliant...unlike the Dell Inspiron, my main desktop installed XP without a problem...hmmm I gotta use my laptop for now until I repair this. Edit 3: Okay, it seems the modified ACPI.sys allowed Windows XP to install on my 23-q127c, but does not prevent ACPI BSoD upon boot. A stock Windows XP w/ SATA/ACHI drivers won't even give me the option to format the disk or install. I might try using Windows 7 and see if that changes anything. -
Installing Windows XP on Bay Trail-M CPU
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows XP
Windows XP setup was already done and integrated drivers through nlite, then I simply extracted all Windows XP files in their own folder. After that, I simply enter the i386 folder and replace the acpi.sy_ file. Afterwards, I use WinSetupFromUSB 1.8. Using Rufus and others never worked. -

I tried the modified ACPI.sys and got another BSoD... https://imgur.com/iUTNco8 Once I get home today, I'll try using the backported ACPI.sys from the one core api project. EDIT: Both the One Core API ACPI.sys and the ACPI.sys you provided did not work... -

FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows XP
Yes, I've tried it without any success. I also tried manually transferring your ACPI.sys driver to a Windows XP installation. This PC lacks a native CD-drive, so I'm not sure if using WinSetupFromUSB 1.8 broke something. Also, I may (probably not) have found a video driver for Windows XP. https://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=2026056 https://members.driverguide.com/driver_search.php?q=N3540&si=30f8e4e487536717df17227cc30d6dcc&st=1564128070&qNoNoise=N3540&os=6&gqm0=N3540+Windows+XP -
Installing Windows XP on Bay Trail-M CPU
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows XP
A bit late, but I should mention that the ACPI error I am getting is "0x000000a5." If I could somehow get my hands on a modded bios, perhaps that can alternatively fix things... -
Could you modify the ACPI.sys to include silvermont support? I've tried different methods without success.

Found a universal audio driver that supposedly works with WDM. I could try this on my computer or Thinkpad R60 http://www.asio4all.org/ kX Drivers (might be 2000/XP only): https://web.archive.org/web/20121023121439/http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/ Edit: Neither work Another potential audio driver https://drp.su/en/laptops/intel/baytrail-platform?os=windows-xp-x86
