Branched from this topic: My attempt of installing Windows XP on a Bay Trail-M CPU has been hampered by the ACPI.sys file. Luckily, a kind user had updated that file here Unfortunately, I must format the file to an LZX:21 archive then change the extension to "SY_" if I want to manually include the updated file in a Windows XP installation CD...an attempt of sending a compressed folder with the extension change made the installation warn that the file was corrupt and aborted. Does anyone know how to compress to LZX? I tried looking but found no archivers that would compress to that format...

Installing Windows XP on Bay Trail-M CPU
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows XP
I found the location, I just need to figure out how to recompress it The compression method of the file is "LZX:21" Normally, I would just make a 7zip archive...but I doubt XP's installer is capable of extracting that type of format The Microsoft link is broken without an archived page!!! http://xavprods.free.fr/lzx/ Let's see how making a generic compressed folder in windows then giving it the .SY_ extension goes... That didn't work...installation said the file was corrupt T_T -
Excuse me, I am currently suffering an ACPI BSoD on my Bay Trail-M AIO computer. I am hoping to install XP because it's a lot faster than 8. I've found drivers, but now I need to figure out how I can get the ACPI.sys into an installation. To do this, I have to manually replace the sys file into an archive that contains the original...only problem is the archive uses LZX:21...I have no idea if using a different type would cause the installation not to install the new ACPI.sys...I have no idea where a LZX:21 file archiver is either...

Installing Windows XP on Bay Trail-M CPU
FantasyAcquiesce replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows XP
This AIO computer does allow me to choose between legacy and the other option. I'm currently reattempting with more SATA drivers. -
The title pretty much says it all as usual. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 20 Model 3043 (All-in-one) computer and I'm hoping to use XP over Windows 8.1. It's CPU is a Intel Celeron N2830 (Silvermont). So far... Took a look at this topic: Now I've used WinSetupFromUSB 1.8, auto-formatted with FBinst and used a Windows XP folder. Now the problem is SATA drivers... Drivers from here didn't work (tried 32-bit drivers) (testing other drivers still) https://www.win-raid.com/t22f45-Guide-Integration-of-Intels-AHCI-RAID-drivers-into-a-Windows-XP-W-k-W-k-CD.html The problem is now ACPI...the bios won't allow me to turn it off... Any suggestions?

I am logged in, but the download will not start...could you make it a mega or google drive download? That way we can access the files even when MSFN is down. EDIT: appears to be an issue with google chrome, it worked on firefox -

Can you try a different file host? The download link here is broken! -
I've tried installing MP10 before and it was not successful... I just tried installing and there seems to be no changes T_T

I tried SMPlayer 0.8.3.0 with KernelEx v19. It only works properly with base enhancements + api fixes opposed to using XP and later. Unfortunately, an MP4 video only appeared the first time the program opened...and it was only a small square that would not expand to the whole player. Audio worked fine though. Could you provide a link to UMPlayer 0.95? I can only find 0.98 portable for Windows. If there are any honorable mentions, please say so. This is a bit off topic, but how did you manage to get Slimboat Portable working on 9x?

Hey y'all! Where can I find a good tutorial of installing themes on Windows 95, 98, ME, and maybe 2000. On the internet, there's plenty of support for customization on Windows XP and later, but I cannot find one very easily on Windows 9x besides revolutions pack! If you can provide me sites that do so, thank you!

Browsing the web on 98/ME in 2019 and beyond

Okay, what are the instructions to fixing TLS 1.2 on Opera 12.02? Which files must be replaced? Does this work on the portable version? Just tried doing this and it didn't work. Please tell me all the steps! -
I am not talking about the ones we all know, but I am seeking one that will heavily compress files. I know my expectations are probably unrealistic, but I would like to ask before giving up. Is there a utility that could potentially compress a 1gb file all the way down to 100mb or less? Thank you!

KernelEx 2022 (Kex22) Test Versions (4.22.26.2)
FantasyAcquiesce replied to jumper's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
I tried the newest KernelEx version. K-Meleon appears more stable than I remember with this version. Unfortunately, I still need to disable javascript to prevent the browser from crashing. Also, I'm not sure if the new KernelEx update damaged my WinME installation in my VMWare. Suddenly, I could not drag files to the guest, file transfers by shared folders, flash drives would not appear, and cds would fail. Reinstalling VMWare tools did not help. -
Edit: I am trying to find the TTS program Kolfix. The web links to the site are either down or gone and the web archive isn't helping my case. EDIT 2: Searching for Microsoft Simplified Chinese Male SAPI5; still searching EDIT 3: I've been collecting free TTS voices in languages around the world and testing them. I just downloaded this Bengali TTS voice and am finding there's issues with it on my Windows 10 computer. While it can try speaking English the best it can, the TTS voice does not recognize Bengali script. I'm probably wrong, but do they use another alphabet for their language??? In the case of Mongolian TTS, I had to use Cyrillic script because the TTS did not recognize traditional script.

In my experience, VMWare workstation works best at emulating Windows 9x. VirtualBox is great because it's free, but I could not get the internet to work and the screen resolution cannot stretch fully to fit my resolution. VMWare workstation accomplishes this better. The only downside is that it costs money and it's bloated compared to the others...my AIO desktop cannot properly use VMWare without constant lags, so I'm forced to use a gaming laptop.

Trying to find Odyssey Client 4.56
FantasyAcquiesce replied to Brahnix's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Are the driver's installed? If it's 9x compatible, it should come with its own wireless utility. If the driver is installed, try clearing out specific parts of the register (I forget which) to rid Odyssey Client's view. I once had this issue and had to delete something because reinstalling didn't fix it. Less likely, but if you're using a Dell Latitude D600 by chance, the card bus slotson those things are faulty and the majority of them break. -

Couldn't find mercury's post, so here you go! https://ufile.io/jlxbf -
Provide the hardware IDs if you can! It will help us search for the drivers of your card!
-
I did not get the chance to test any of these wireless managers, but the older odyssey client you linked appears to be exclusive to only specific cards... Darn, is finding WPA2 for Windows 95 impossible?
-
Darn, I gotta test this later. Odyssey Client did mention Funk and was owned by Juniper until 2015. This post looks promising This version of Odyssey Client appears universal but lacks WPA2. It's definitely older than version 3.1. Not 95-compatible though.
