  1. Windows XP works nearly perfectly! Is there a way I can fix annoying rendering errors and momentary lag? For example, when I switch tabs, a bunch of glitched squares of the previous window/tab appear until the page has a second to load be interacted with. Textures can be missing for a moment... I might try upgrading to Vista or 7 and see if that fixes anything. Being stuck on DirectX 9 is a bit of a drag when playing PCSX2.
  2. It still can despite that. Unlike Windows 10, XP will actually keep itself dimmed when hibernating and won't turn back on randomly.
  3. Woo-hoo! My 23-q127c works perfectly with Windows XP, thanks to Damnation's custom mods! But I still have one tiny question.. Windows XP over Windows 10 any day!!! Will the lack of ACPI driver here potentially cause damages to the pc overtime? Just double checking! It's really odd my 2013 haswell computer (Dell) can't run Windows XP, but my 2015 (HP) one can...
  4. So far, I can confirm Damnation's custom ACPI.sys allows me to progress further in my 2015 desktop but not my 2013 one. I can only install XP on my 2015 desktop, then boot will give me BSoD. It's further progress than my 2013 desktop.
  5. Yikes, this program doesn't appear too user-friendly. Maybe it's just my eyes at 12AM being overwhelmed by the amount of instructions. I'll try looking at a youtube tutorial tomorrow and attempt this. Thank you for your time. Edit: I can also conform that the installations I made are not faulty. Ironically, my HP Pavilion 23-q127c will install just fine using the same usb installation...my AIO (Inspiron 20 3043) that refused to boot was a Haswell I believe. Ironically, my 23-q127c is about two years newer yet installs ACPI just fine...hmmm... https://imgur.com/a/mqOGj0e Perhaps I'll dual-boot Windows 10/7/xp on my other desktop. Edit 2: Okay, it installed on my other desktop then gave me the BSoD error...it claims it's not ACPI compliant...unlike the Dell Inspiron, my main desktop installed XP without a problem...hmmm I gotta use my laptop for now until I repair this. Edit 3: Okay, it seems the modified ACPI.sys allowed Windows XP to install on my 23-q127c, but does not prevent ACPI BSoD upon boot. A stock Windows XP w/ SATA/ACHI drivers won't even give me the option to format the disk or install. I might try using Windows 7 and see if that changes anything.
  6. Windows XP setup was already done and integrated drivers through nlite, then I simply extracted all Windows XP files in their own folder. After that, I simply enter the i386 folder and replace the acpi.sy_ file. Afterwards, I use WinSetupFromUSB 1.8. Using Rufus and others never worked.
  7. Maybe you could try the audio driver from here. http://shorthornproject.com/allcategories.html?tab=drivers&item=item-drivers
  8. I tried the modified ACPI.sys and got another BSoD... https://imgur.com/iUTNco8 Once I get home today, I'll try using the backported ACPI.sys from the one core api project. EDIT: Both the One Core API ACPI.sys and the ACPI.sys you provided did not work...
  9. Yes, I've tried it without any success. I also tried manually transferring your ACPI.sys driver to a Windows XP installation. This PC lacks a native CD-drive, so I'm not sure if using WinSetupFromUSB 1.8 broke something. Also, I may (probably not) have found a video driver for Windows XP. https://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=2026056 https://members.driverguide.com/driver_search.php?q=N3540&si=30f8e4e487536717df17227cc30d6dcc&st=1564128070&qNoNoise=N3540&os=6&gqm0=N3540+Windows+XP
  10. A bit late, but I should mention that the ACPI error I am getting is "0x000000a5." If I could somehow get my hands on a modded bios, perhaps that can alternatively fix things...
  11. Could you modify the ACPI.sys to include silvermont support? I've tried different methods without success.
  12. Found a universal audio driver that supposedly works with WDM. I could try this on my computer or Thinkpad R60 http://www.asio4all.org/ kX Drivers (might be 2000/XP only): https://web.archive.org/web/20121023121439/http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/ Edit: Neither work Another potential audio driver https://drp.su/en/laptops/intel/baytrail-platform?os=windows-xp-x86
  13. I tried re-enable ACPI using instructions from here https://www.win-raid.com/t4035f45-Windows-XP-SP-bit-and-modern-PC-parts-64.html#msg81927 Your new acpi.sys did not prevent the computer (Bay Trail) from having a BSoD after re-enabling.
  14. Excuse me, is it possible to install the ACPI.sys file on a Windows XP installation? I'm hoping to do this without reinstalling XP. I tried installing it via hardware manager (standard pc) with no success! Am I supposed to install it another way?
  15. Turns out I used the incorrect Windows XP SATA driver the first time I installed this and I certainly didn't need to disable acpi either (or even replace it). Just use the "Universal 32bit Intel RST textmode driver v11.2.0.1006" https://www.win-raid.com/t22f45-Guide-Integration-of-Intels-AHCI-RAID-drivers-into-a-Windows-XP-W-k-W-k-CD.html Integrate SATA driver with nLite. Use WinSetupFromUSB to create a bootable iso Make sure the computer itself is in legacy boot to allow a boot from USB Before Windows XP's setup gets far, press f5 and change to "Standard PC," failing to do so will result in a BSoD. Done the right way this time. The toilet roll strikes back! ^o^ The chipset and sata driver are no problem, but I have yet to figure out how to force the pc from a "Standard PC" to an ACPI one. I obtained a custom acpi.sys which apparently fixes issues with XP systems. The video, audio, and network driver are problematic. It seems I can't find an XP driver anywhere! One option for the video driver is the universal NT series driver...but it doesn't support hardware acceleration. The audio driver I tried from dell failed...and I can't find an XP network driver anywhere T_T Blackwingcat's link is also broken
  16. Getting back to attempting this again: Possible Audio Driver (ALC290) https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/realtek-hd-audio-driver-6018591-whql-dated-11-12/8d606bdc-29a2-4d96-84b5-d64bcc91686b Dell Wireless 1705 WLAN+Bluetooth Driver (This is a Windows 7 driver though...) https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=gmw8t Drivermax claims to have even a w2k compatible version: https://www.drivermax.com/driver-download/0/Bluetooth/Atheros+Communications/Dell+Wireless+1705+Bluetooth Intel HD Graphics (Dead links...) 17. So does installing this framework even work with applications? If not, that negates the point of installing it...
  18. I'll do that soon. It appears that Avant browser probably has a rollback for an XP-specific version of Chromium and Vista uses the 7+ version, maybe. It would explain why Windows XP did not give a single error message but Vista had an endless, hysterical cycle that required ending the process tree.
  19. Has anyone tried Avant browser on Windows Vista? I just installed it on XP. It launches but does not load anything; it's completely blank besides the window. The options are viewable but pages do not load. Avant browser uses Chrome 74.0.3729.131 and Firefox 66.0.5.7070. If these two are included within the browser automatically and do not require a manual installation like Lunascape, that's kinda impressive. EDIT: Oddly, WIndows XP does not give an error, but Vista does. "webkit.exe - Entry Point Not Found" appears. The program then stops responding on Vista.
  20. Yikes...thanks for the heads-up. I used the Chinese web browser with a caution before but dang...
  21. QQ Browser uses Chromium 70 :3 Now we need to figure out how to find or compile an offline installer in case the company discontinues this version.
  22. The PC was on AHCI mode; the Thinkpad R60 only provides two options in the BIOS: "ACHI" and "Compatibility." Thank you for the clarification of limited high drive speeds. It makes sense why the system was kinda unstable.
