I did not know that AV1 would be placed in the WEBM container. Latest Opera or YouTube has prevented me from downloading from YouTube with ctrl+s now and the on-line YouTube downloader I tried will not download your latest file link. It said they did not have access. So I am stuck for a while till I find out how to download the files. I will catch up again when I get the YouTube downloader working, it seems my only option. Or perhaps try Chrome?

E4700 @ 2.6 GHz beats AMD Opteron 152, 2949 MHz (13 x 227) so many other Intel builds may be able to play AV1 @ higher resolutions. I would like to test some more files but have to catch up to your YouTube downloader implementation. Just checking, when you play spbtv_sample_bipbop_av1_960x540_25fps.mp4 is LAV splitter loaded as KMP does not use LAV splitter for me when playing this file. MPC-HC does load the splitter and plays like I said but I use FFDShow audio.

It is best to only use one version of Msvcrt in your program launch that is named Msvcrt. So make sure BWC's file is only one running with your program. If you have problems then all functions of Msvcrt may not be able to be mapped in the RAM. It is a small file and it is the one that has many instances of use in RAM and the larger linked Msvcr80 and renamed BWC's Msvcrt only have one instance per handle : - If you want to try it then AVFORMAT-LAV-58 has to link to BWC's renamed MSVCR* directly. CRYPTUI.dll from Microsoft Windows 2000 (''NT 5.0'' 5.00.1729.1 Professional B1) is recommended by me to use as it does not require CERTCLI.dll but uses XENROLL.dll.

I cannot download AV1 files the one you suggested is WEBM and I can play these and x265 @ 720 but depending on encode with 720 and x265 but most play without lag.

What version of MSVCR80 did you try only the vs I mentioned or the very next is compatible as a MSVCRT replacement. ( versions prior to these will be OK too but they will have less functions )

Steam would not use any DVD error checking nor StarForce protection so if you register the games correctly and they run on Win98/ME then they should work if they work when Steam is off-line.

The LAVvideo.ax does not need AVFORMAT-LAV-58 but LAVsplitter and LAVaudio does. I would try BWC's Msvcrt in the downloader folder or use as a system file or MSVCR80 vs 8.0.31113.25. If that does not work then try linking AVFORMAT-LAV-58 to a renamed BWC's Msvcrt say Msvcrz.dll. I will try YouTube when I work out how to download the files.

AVFORMAT-LAV-58 might be particular about what version of MSVCRT is used so make sure you both have the same version in use. I have LAV 74.1 for XP working. The sample upload to GitHub spbtv_sample_bipbop_av1_960x540_25fps.mp4 is virtually a blank raster and CPU usage for me is about 80% in KMP with 3D noise reduction; post-processing; deinterlacing; video gamma adjustments and audio enhancements. With MPC-HC it has 40% CPU usage. This was the only file I found to test.

I have fixed audio hissing when stopping MP-HC ( no not quite ) and the solution could be looked into for your board problems. The solution was to replace the north-bridge to south-bridge bridging driver from a VIA standard host bridge to a VIA Ultra Vlink controller. The standard host bridge was the default compatible install and the Vlink driver needs forcing to use it but installs straight away. In the windows device manager and viewing by devices type mine was the last one on the PCI bus. The memory controller was the first one shown on the PCI bus viewing by device connection and I used an nVidia driver for mine.

I can confirm that the 7950 GX2 works good but not fully up to its best as the inner GPU had problems when on Win7 when testing with some modern games and I am not sure it is working properly but there are no artifacts or any display errors. I have modified the GX2 boards mechanical standoff construction so that it fits in my PC box. I have not placed in the water blocks yet though the inner GPU is not getting too hot. It installs an extra 3 standard PCI to PCI bridges and works showing 12000 MT/s with Everest. It would be best if I installed water blocks and exercise it out on modern hardware, OS and games to see if the card works properly.

I gave up trying to fix the icon displaying wrong icon error with some backups of WinME with Revolutions Pack. So I replaced System.dat from a good build. This fixed it. It also fixed the conflict with PshExports_alpha1.7z and File64. It also got another program to run that used Qt5WebKit.dll. Added edit response in KernelEx Core Updates.

An 8" floppy drive is something I had never heard of as well. I have a SCSI tape drive but no tapes. The old main board BIOS used to treat a floppy drive as a virus disk and would delete the drive on start up. If floppy seek can be disabled I do not know. I did not know this and lost Red Baron the game. The web replacement was too big to fit on a 5 1/4" floppy. I have only 1 ISA SCSI controller that works 100% now.

I am fairly sure now the MFM add on cards you are mentioning were the ones I could not get going. I could get going ISA sound cards with IDE ports on them to work the hard drives from the Sound cards IDE with WinME. It is a winner in that the sound and IDE and Floppy drive controller were on the one card. I have several of these. It has been so long since I have worked on small drives. I think now the drives if under a set size might default in format to Fat16. I think the usable size difference would be in the order of kilo bytes between Fat16 and Fat32 if using the lowest cluster size if Fat32 format is possible.

I made a mistake as I have never seen a parallel port drive. SCSI had a similar interface that looks like a parallel port but it is SCSI. SCSI came first before IDE. If the drives really are driven from a parallel port then I would try non-bidirectional access as bi-directional is later technology and only later devices work this configuration. Bit serial interface sounds like it needs serial and not parallel. Early serial can have 25 pin connectors. If they show as removable disks then perhaps ME is treating them as zip discs or there is an IO error. The ST506 interface which used discs with MFM technology used an add on controller card which was derived from the floppy disc controller. Although unrelated a USB to IDE converter on USB 1 can get some drives to be accessed even when they show as having IO errors when they are connected on faster interfaces. If it works in Win98 or Win95 then I guess it really is a driver issue and not compatible or has the access timings changed like Win7, hardware connected to the parallel port was nearly impossible to get working I found.

I had no trouble with 256MB drives but they were driven from an old IDE interface. I could not get the ISA PATA add on cards to work as they seemed to require a slower access timing and my machine was one generation past the slower interface. I think the bus speed was doubled and PCI and ISA speeds are not locked to a set standard. If the drives are driven from an add on card the bus speed may need to be reduced to as slow as possible. I would still format the disk as Fat32 with the low cluster size. I have forgotten the instruction line. I think it has / z : 1 at the end but I do not know now and no luck with internet search. WinMe boot disc must be used as Win98 disc is not compatible. I got it : FORMAT drive: /Z:n formats a FAT32 drive with a cluster size of n times 512 Bytes.

I am not 100% sure of the maximum IDE/SCSI size though I do know when accessing the 500GB size drive with Paragon Partition Manager it did not show size properly so I assumed that 500GB was just beyond driver capabilities. Some Serial to PS2 converters are just wired. This may not be acceptable. You will be able to check. If the serial to PS2 adapter is causing clicking through to the sound it is not good for the mother board and I would avoid this arrangement. Make sure mouse cable is not too long if an extender is used as this too can stop inputs toggling properly.

EDIT I just partitioned and formatted a 1.5GB SATA drive with Fat32 on WinME using Partition Manager 5.6 Paragon and all is correct. If formatting Fat32 in Vista the cluster size must be 64 sectors for partitions over 1GB otherwise Vista SP1 will not read the drive size correctly. So I choose 64 sectors for partitions of Fat32 in WinMe also when greater than 1GB. USB has driver updates and up to 2TB is possible. I like to think of the VLB as a VESA card as I did not know about it. Adding extra RAM did not work for me and it seemed like a BIOS update on the graphics card was necessary. 16 bit color : - the Mack64 must be the best card available in the VESA and ISA format. Near the end of the old hard drive might be impossible to write to anymore. If you format using Fdisk the drives with the smallest cluster size of 512 bytes it will allow 1 write and subsequent writes may still fail. If so a format again with 512 is done. I am not suggesting to re-partition the drive as this will probably make things worse. The speed of the drive is inversely proportional to is age and proportionally to the number of platters/heads. The access timing once going past the drives capability does not make it any faster. Do not have recycle bin configured have delete instantaneous. Once the drive section that is faulty is writable then a re-partition with Fdisk fixes the drive. Have to be writable five times at least. I am rusty about this though.

Zwei-stein is something I thought would be too outdated but it will open any file you have codec installed for and export in an AVI; WMV; or RM package or just audio as WAV or WMA. For instance if you have google VP8 encoder installed then AVI conversion selections will include this encoder. Zwei-stein when sampling the source uses anti-aliasing and a very low resolution video can be seen a lot better. Output resolutions are limited though and exported AVIs have PCM audio only resulting in an audio track that can be larger than the video. This is not an issue with RM or WMV conversions. Videos may need importing twice if it does not import first time. I have tested HEV1 and imports HEV1 and converts: - will need KernelEx to run the LAV filters. I used Loblo's YouTube downloader as dl.exe in WonerFox. It does not bring up the intermediate error message but has the same analyze end result saying an internet access connection error. True but to test for equivalency for NT4 I used the WinNT and sub-directories for scanning tests for original posting requirements.

Scanbin can be run on 98/ME, I think that Psapi has to be replaced for the install. You can choose your directory of testing and I chose the WinNT directory when testing the NT4 User.exe and NT4 Gdi.exe. Do not try and find all calling modules when using Scanbin as the system will run out of resources scanning all of the hard drive but will be OK for a small directory. The first scan is for called modules, it is the second scan for calling modules that tips the scales on resources.

Jumper lets talk about ME Gdi.exe and User.exe. Scanbin specializes in 16 bit executables, it has DLLs used, Exported and Imported functions, Address tables, Hexa dump and general information. It is not so good with VXDs though. Gdi.exe only links to Kernel32 with no indirect calls to other libraries. User.exe directly links to comm.drv; ddemi.dll; gdi.exe; keyboard.drv; kernel386.exe; mouse.drv and system.dll. This is the service pack User.exe that I am talking about and the Gdi.exe was the original.

With KernelEx, if Explorer.exe is set KernelEx disabled then all programs started after Explorer ( at run time ) should start up as well KernelEx disabled. This should make the need for a separate build without KernelEx unnecessary. I do not think that the swap file size setting works as the minimum setting does not alter WIN386.swp size. ( No the figure I chose was not 1GB needed an extra 0 and corrected last post. ) I know that CometBird9 has to have disk cache set to 1GB or less.

Note I do not use ConservativeSwapfileUsage because of some problems occurring with certain programs. The SwapFile will only get used if Vcache runs out. Normally I have no SwapFile in use and have Vcache set to 500MB. The SwapFile will get used if I visit a rather complex web site like a gaming modding web site. I think the SwapFile should be limited to 1GB though due to Virtual memory manager problems. This can be set in SYSTEM.ini MaxPagingFileSize=1024000. It would be wise to make a minimum setting of 1GB as well so not to be caught out with low disk space. ApplicationData files would be a good contender for the RAM disc.

A good comment and idea Jumper but I checked with Scanbin.exe on the GDI.exe and User.exe and in this case I determined originals were OK and why I had not mentioned this myself.
