So quick news from RuThaNs lair.. I have tested AMD970 with second Intel 1000S GT controller, which is running fine in Conroe machine again i dont boot.. these Intel looks problematic, on other Z97 GB board, were is 1000S CT working, is not working for change Intel 100S NIC. Are there other PCI gigabite Windows 98 compatible NICs? Geforce 7900 with 256MB + 6 HDDs arrived, with patched or unpatched 82.69 still same issues, so problem is not in patch, its worse whole Unofficial driver is not somehow compatible with my board. Problems: Dll errors, sometimes even right after right click anywhere means error, copy-paste from keyboard the same.. Command.com in safe mode blackscreen Dos games from Windows - blackscreen, probably cant set right videomodes.. Its not good news at all, because i see only 2 possibility: 1) Rloew would use its magic and will debug it and make other patch for not working UONV 82.69 and dont mind pay for it.. 2) Or we will say that my Asus AMD970 is dead end for Geforce 7 usage.. It even in that case would be nice to find source of problem, to know why is not compatible and which MB should be avoided. It reminds me, which AMD970 are actually known as working with Geforce 7? Because it looks are best solution for me would be simply change the Mainboard. Proper HDD on internal Sata port fixed it, i had not enough time to test of it was micron PCI-E controller issue or only incompatibility of Micron with my EDI to SD card adapter, i only tested that with Medley PCI IDE controller + SD card adapter everything was fine. For now from my point of view are Z97 board better Win98 solution than AMD970, only USB is not working, otherwise is everything same or better.

You are right, i even disconnected GPT disc its same, so patch is simply dont like my Asmedia controller. BTW im already in contact with Asrock Bios/uefi team, they were nice enough to implement, per Sata port enable / disable for this board and trying to add hotplug for Asmedia port.. I had some other issues with this board in other OS - in Windows 7 is HDD on Asmedia port marked as removable SCSI device and when i start HWinfo - disc is disconnected to cold powerdown and when i run R-Drive image and scan list of partition i got machine freeze, it could be only Asmedia driver issues.. But i want to say, if you see some way how they should adjust PCI devs settings (scanpci result), write it here or sent it to me by mail, i will try to ask, they are quite open to fixing, its right opposite of my MSI / GB experience with UEFI issues fixing.

As i wrote in first item in this thread, i tried it, but i didnt find this device in the list or way how to install it from INF, so i want to need, how it could be added. Ok had better theories, but maybe is the only some stupid check if device exist, regardless of it is disabled - its some virtual device codec, maybe cant be really disabled, it would be firstime that thing would work such way, its danger of use one too stupid if for some check.. I just need to open some existing cd image file (iso is most frequent and there are everything to iso converters) and in some filebrowser like GUI with explorer drag and drop support, i need to add files, rename files and delete saves a just save iso file and use it. I other work i need to work with cd image with with something like virtual disc drive - like vhd etc, but i dont mind special filebrowser GUI for it, im not wrong DVD RAM or old CD RW with some explorer enhandcement were capable to do same thing even in Explorer. Winiso has everything that i need, buts its payed.

I did some more test with Win 7, X99 behavior of 2 nvidia cards is same as on AMD970. I tried Geforce 220GT + Nvidia G7950GT i had working stund, as is described, when driver 309 was installed, this driver supporting both cards, but once i have installed driver for Geforce 220GT only - 340, it stopped working and i had same situation as G7950GT + G1030.. I really want to see these screenshots, where is working Geforce 7 + Geforce 9xx together. I think that could work ATI+Nvidia combination, or maybe Gigabyte board - and bios switch of primary GPU slot, otherwise lots of magic is needed and Dual GPU stunt guide is far from complete..

Its on the Steam and its working in modern OSes as far as i know it was XP+ game.

Ok i tested my Asus AMD970SB AM3 board and APM is not present, so no shutdown at all, or there is change through some Bios settings?

Hello, i want to know, if there is really working NFTS read/write solution for Windows 98SE, i tried Sysinternals NTFS (read only) and Paragon NTFS(seems to be limited to partition size 8.4 GB or at least i see such error), is there any better solution for reasonable partition size (at least 100 GB)?

Not big change, but i will try it is there some utility capable onscreen (OSD) temperate + performance monitoring for Windows 98 in fullscreen Windows 98 apps (simply something like Afterburner for modern Windows)? I know that there is possibility to log these measurements to text file with Aida, but i want something better, otherwise is solution run application in the window.

CloneCD virtual driver, tested on other machine, but what about GPT 3TB disc on second Asmedia port, could that be a difference(i know that im writing on different disc, but..), or its entairly ignore, i would how about testing with GPT you did?

I cant really test all on my 2 other production Z97 machines, unless i will ready for migration Unraid (i plan to use both standard multiboot physical installation + Unraid boot (from your pespective Unraid just means more dedicated storage devices, which could / should be ignored by normal OSes - XFS filesystem or other strange Linux FS, one partition only) - there just would be other Grub item for Unraid) and for that i need working Dual (Triple) GPU stunt, i hoped that i will test in on AMD970 board, but there are problem, maybe X99 would be better.. Plan is to have in 1 machine which best GPU for W98, second for XP and third for modern Windows, Linux, MacOS etc. I there would be problem from you patches perspective i coul be dedicate PCI-E controller for Unraid and just disable it in Win98+, only problem would be slots and space, 3 big GPUs covers 2 or 3 slots.. There is also some old HP z400 Xeon machine on the way, there is could be tested, it will arrive probably next week. I also seems to would have 5,6 more old small proper IDE/SATA HDD from my friend, but im not sure i today or tomorrow, or and end of next week, all is in the process.

I installed DX9 a lot in last days, clean Win98SE installation not need any other prerequisites.. Maybe it is nonsense, but more could safe is upgrade step by step DX6 to DX7,DX7-8, DX8-DX8.1.. etc..

Just other info to the puzzle, i didnt too much testing, but Geforce 7950GT and same problematic Intel Gb NIC on Z97 Gigabyte board (info about board could be found in other thread, im a bit in hurry), are running fine, only difference is no Sata patch, because im using PCI-E to IDE Micron controller + PCI USB NEC controller (because onboard original is not running), i dont know if matters. Clean install, HimemX, no other patches except NVSIZE. No USP3, nUSB 3.6 Never saw Nvidia dll problem on this machine and its running few hours.. I would have tens issues for same time on AMD970 machine. So my issues could be AMD970 related and patches working at least somewhere.. Only problem with this setup are mouse slowdowns, which are probably related to Micron PCI-E controller and IDE to SD card adapter.. there is not disc in Device manager to setup DMA, it probably running without it. I had no such issues with other PCI IDE adapter which i used before, but i had to clean 1 PCI slot for NIC. I would like to use proper storage, but all my spared device are already used and so im using Memory cards, i though that 5 spared SDD/HDDs would be enough..

Ok and what about shutdown? Its still possible without ACPI, make Widnows 98 ATX shutdown working? ATX shutdown in mean shutdown without press shutdown button, only through SW.

I really dont know if is Direct9 officially supported on W98, last safe and not problematic could be 8.1b, but i never had problem with Dxdiag, but there some strange DX9 installer which are only extracting data, which should be installer in next step, or only SDK which are not DirectX runtime replacement.
