Ok i flashed Z170 MB with patched ACPI bios, and tried to boot, i tried multiple of Sata controllers PCI/PCI-E but i always got blue screen quick reboot, i im not sure about message, but i thing that it was something else that before patching - ACPI error.. I know that that bluescreen reset could be disabled, but i was lazy and just tried that Asmedia Sata controller with IDE bios and managed to get XP.. So far there are not any PCI-E bridges with conflicts reported.. Only MB devices names are very generic.. Is there some Intel INF package for Z170? Btw, someone claims that is able to boot XP from NVM drive: http://reboot.pro/topic/21812-community-ofa-nvme-15-storport-miniport-for-windows-server-2003-r2-sp2/

I tried this booting parameters, but i got WinXP starting logo, progress bar - bar was moving for few seconds, but after that just black screen and nothing, i havent time to test safe mode. Is pae switch necessary just for switching to ACPI? Its that /KERNEL=NTKRNLPA.EXE parameter default or for PAE too? Because there is something wrong with PAE mod on this HW its not working with PAE patch even in MPS mode. I this other issue, now i need to make working 32 bit mode fine.. I have found some info for it: https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-acpi-multiprocessor-pc-v-standard-pc.912216/ Im not sure if there should be ntkrpamp.exe instead of ntkrnlpa.exe ..

I can confirm, that with Z370 its update bios working with MPS mode, so fixed bios flash doenst broke boooting process that is great, in next step i will try to boot in ACPI mode. Are you sure that is HW thing? I have bad memory, but i thing that i have Asmedia Sata controller, which could be flashed with both IDE and AHCI Bioses..

In similar direction it would be really great to able things needed for Windows 98 automatic ATX shutdown, because its really only care with powermanagment.. Z170 is Win98 capable, so it make sense. From some lofty idea, it would be really great to implement IDE mode for modern Sata controller, which dont have no more this option in BIOS, Z97 and X99 this has it, Z170+ MBs dont..

Compatible Hardware with Windows 9x
ruthan replied to galahs's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
I made Win98 working on Z170 - GA-Z170-HD3(DDR4 version, im using 1 - 3000 MHz stick), it has 2 PCI slots, thanks MrMateczko for H110 project info . It would need more time and testing, but its at least somehow working. I used Geforce 730 for XP+. And Geforce 6200 Turbocache for Win98. I had problem to make Yamaha 744 working (i tried few drivers from Vogons library, but i sound never worked - exclamation mark on Legacy audio virtual device, when i disable it no sound, or no boot), but Aureal Vortex 1 is working, also disk operations are slow Promise Sata 300 TX4 PCI and Micron PCI-E Sata II are working - but only without DMA - 3 MB/s. Rloew has some patch for on board Sata - 21 bucks for bigger speed. and other 10 for Sata AHCI CD.. So far i tested Diablo II shareware - fine, Warcraft III demo - fine. Quake 3 demo - is not working broken picture, same Unreal Tournament in Opengl, its working with Direct3D and Glide (nglide 1.0.5), but its freezing after minute of games.. These graphics problems, could be because im using unofficial NV 82 drivers, moded for 512 MB Geforce 7 -Rloew patch.. i have to test unmoded drivers. Update: Freeze is the same with 81.68 driver - only it took 5 minutes, i got some freezes with Windows 7 load screen, MB is second hand so it could be some cooling (MB bridge cooler is crappy one) or other MB problem, Geforce 6200 turbocache is passively cooled, it can be overheating too. Regarding of OpenGL - i suspect C:\Windows\System OpenGL32.dll which file should be here some from Microsoft or some of Videocard vendor, i remember that in the pass it something with it.. I think that it is not related to DirectX, could someone share good one? I havent too much time try to monitor temperatures in Windows 7 etc. Just for info i tried to boot old WinXP installation, but there is some ACPI error, i had the same one with Z370 XP and i had to install XP in MPS mutiply processor mode, instead of HAL, but there is person on forum, who is able to BIOS to proper ACPI at least for XP. -
I tried few more machines and even pass through this USB to LAN adapter to Virtual machine, its always the same, driver install is fine, no exclamation mark, but ping or other thing are not working, always same error. That driver is probably buggy.. Its some USB to LAN adapter working in WIn98 for someone?

Last Versions of Software for Windows 98SE
ruthan replied to galahs's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
Thanks, but i got some gameway timeout - 504 response, but with filename i was able to find it here: https://kbench.com/software/?q=node/20 Im also searching for some reliable Win98 storage benchmark, i have problem to find something, i used Atto benchmark, but its reports bad results - i dunno because of cache or used controllers or HDD, but it reports up to 1 GB/s on Sata II.. or just because it is bugged, or i have old version.. what is not sense. So i need something else, i dont need something too complex, on modern windows im ok with Crystal Disk Mark, i just need speed for sequential and random reads / writes - big and small blocks. -
Daniel_K : I now experimenting with Gigabyte Z170 board: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z170-HD3-rev-10#sp When i try to boot old XP installation i get ACPI error (start bluescreen, even for safe mode), could you pleas check last F22 bios for it and if ACPI is broken fix it? Here is advantage that installation is already ACPI, so in theory i can run without reinstall. I can try P2P soft to adjusting hardware for existing installation, but if it would be the same as for Z370 MB, it would bypass that ACPI error, but now i know that is Bios issue, so perhaps.. i can fix it without reinstall.

Windows 10 64bit - not working mouse wheel on VIA USB3 controller.
ruthan replied to ruthan's topic in Windows 10
I tried to update mouse driver, it i have newest MS driver from 2006, i have lastest VIA USB3 microsoft driver - 2018 something, and i installed it because VIA driver had same problem, from my experience, are MS drivers more stable for Windows 10 than drivers from chip vendors. I wonder if someone with VIA USB3 have some problem or not.. -
Is somewhere list of KernelEx new incompatibilities in comparision with system without it? I care mainly about games compatibility.

Can someone share TaskInfo 2000 v2.1? -
Hello, i have multiboot Z370 chipset system, so i have several USB3 controllers - VIA, Intel and Asmedia, because Intel USB3 is not working with WinXP. I found out that for some reason my mouse wheel is not working when its connected to VIA USB3 controller with Win 10, when i connect it to Asmedia controller its working, with Intel too. Im using Microsoft USB3 drivers for all controllers. Mouse is Genius - Navigator 525, in Windows 10 is detected as HID compliant mouse. VIA USB3 hardware ID: PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3483&SUBSYS_34831106&REV_01 Is there any way how to fix it?
-
Hmm, for some reason its not working for VIA USB3 and im using VIA USB3 because it has also front panel USB3 header. I can somehow help to fix it with some more info, let me know.

I found original PAE package with USB drivers from Dibay, i used all USB files, but problem is still the same.. From Win2003 server, should i use 32bit or 64bit version for these files?
-
I not have 2003 server disk, could you upload this file, here pleas?
-
I dont have such file on whole XP partition. Im not now by that machine, but im pretty sure that i installed this one: https://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/16820/ But all older drivers back to 4.00B first one for USB3 from VIA behaves exactly the same way. Its this card: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-Pci-express-Pci-e-to-USB-3-0-19pin-Header-Card-Adapter-for-Win-7-8-10-XP-DH/362003396926?epid=17003521658&hash=item544915793e:g:zp8AAOSwnK9ZOmHR:rk:2:pf:0

Hello, i figure out, that my VIA 8xx USB3 controller is not working with PAE (64 bit for more RAM) patch from Dibya (i dunno who is original) author, with non PAE boot its working fine. Its a while (2,3 years) when i installed a patch, if im not wrong there were some USB patches too,.. Were is newest version? Is VIA USB3 working for someone with PAE (64bit), Who to check is installed USB patched for PAE or not etc?
-
I tried this with Geforce 6600 no change, PCI-E Gen1 Videocard is simply ignored a system is booting from Gen3 - Geforce 970. I checked response of GB support from 1/2 of year ago: Try to use some more recent VGA. It may be some compatibility issues between new motherboard and 10+ years old graphics card. I thing that they do not give a f*** unless someone will sue them, or some big Youtube will make big point of it..

Ok, i checked WIndows folder for problematic files: Vdhcp.386 Vip.386 Vnbt.386 Vtcp.386 Vtdi.386 But there were only in Windows\System folder, when i deleted them i not got Ping: transmit failed, error code 10091 so its probably something about mess in networking files.. I tried USB to LAN, adapter on other computer where Broadcom 5721 NIC is working and i have some problems there.. Ping transmit failed 10043 with files, 10091 without them.
