I really dont believe that combination of Geforce 7950GT and newer Nvidia card could work with Windows 7 or 10, can someone share screenshot of device manager or something like that to proof that it is working?

What about some HW and SW boot drivers - white / black list? I dont mind to create one in Zoho or Google docs. In my case clean Windows working, but existing installation with lots of SW dont, so there are probably some evil imcompatible SW with own drivers needed

GUI - was primary speaking about documentation, where picture help, same as on the web. But even in DOS, you could use VGA mode - 320x240x256 or 640x480x16, its running i think still on all Windows 98 VGA cards, SVGA would a bit more fun.. Other solution is some text graphics mode - like old turbovision from Borland, i assume that new developed IDE has such libraries too. I just tested remove noide key on both my systems, is not magic solution - when i remove it i have got normal boot hang, removed controller, normal boot ok - sata patch installed, normal boot hang.. And doesnt helped with zombie controllers, there still there - and are still non removable. Sil3512, i have using it on on Conroe865PE MB machine. I not sure about bios IDE/SATA setting.. There is Compatibility mode - which enabling one IDE controlller +SATA - but in my case i have always got with this mode boot hang - even before OS boot, so im using some enhanced mode - in Bios description is that is good for Win 2000 / XP.. So i probably cant enable classic old IDE mode - i will debug it, if is problem with Sata III HD or with Sata DVD driver, or in general with board.. So im probably booting with AHCI mode enabled. Because is have such headaches with Sata patch, i would probably just use SIL controller, but it seems that it is not supporting Grub boot loader even with newest bios and i wrote in the past, when i install its drivers i cant now boot - my is because of conflict with other setting.. I will check its setting, i didnt that after its bios flash. Update: BIOS has to set to Enhanced mode - other wise is not my SATA drive detected at all, so its means that i here im probably also using AHCI and there is not other choice, completly disconected DVD drive for testing. AHCIBIOS - what is price? RFDISK - i need make Sata running, after that i will think about it.

Thanks for reply, i know you are probably old terminal fan, but if you dont have any master utility with inbuild configuration autodetection or step by step gui installer.. at least some picture like flow chart or mindmap style diagram packaged with product would help more that long text files and per user support.. Because when i bought something with name Sata patch, i just though that i will install something and all Sata configuration would be just handled without users tweaking, yeah maybe im naive or spoiled user.. Yesterday i think i did all by the book (original installation guide all 6 or 7 steps) for my AMD970 (asus m5a97 r2.0.) board: - BIOS is set to AHCI for Sata 0-3 and IDE for SATA 4-5 // Disks are connected to port 4+5 (both Sata III devices) - i have removed controllers, copied sata inf - rebooted Sata driver is used for DUAL PCI controller and primary a secondary channels redetected - reboot But there is still error code 10 on both channels and disc are still in MS-DOS compatibility mode, discs operation are slow and there are long system frezees.. No any other or patch related / zombie controllers involved, no disk controller cards, only NIC + 2x Geforce videocards. Were could be problem? I checked the list, but there is not quite similar machine like mine, ragnargd has only G7950 + G950 with Win10.. Nobody with Geforce 7xxx + New Geforce 200/400/500/600+ etc.. card and Windows 7. If im not wrong driver model of Windows 10 is other that in Windows 7.. I dont care of XP, because Geforce 1030 is not supported by XP, there is G7950 still ok. Simple fix, would be force Windows 7 to completly ignore Geforce 7950GT or first PCI-E slot, but dont know if such utility exist.. Otherwise its problematic, 2 nvidia cards, using same file location for their drivers, and even when is card in primary pci-e slot disabled or in with VGA driver and disable, there is still not picture on second card, or proper Windows 7 driver loaded.. Other solution would be utility to force primary videocard indepedently on vendors GPU drivers.. Yeah there is settings of primary Nvidia GPU in nvidia panel - when it is working, maybe someone could monitor Registry with something like Regmon and point me, which value is changed after using Nvidia control panel and we can fix it through some *.reg file. .. But i never so, this panel used with 2 Nvidia cards, only for Integrated and Nvidia dGPU selection. There is some video:

Yes i did, but i dont know which part of SP3 actually fixed my issues, i have some physical machine when even after SP3 installation is issue still exist - probably because of SATA - IDE driver running in IDE mode => 1 MB/s transfer rate and freezes even in Windows Explorer..

Hmm, i didnt get that so called Sata patch, is actually not for classic classic vanilla Sata, but only for special cases like - like MB with Sata controller and IDE or RAID mode, external controller Sata controllers etc.. Because with AMD 97 have tried - only controller in AHCI mode with patch.. Because i dont want to use IDE mode with modern OS, where i want to use full speed of Sata III and that i one of reasons why i even bough the patch. Yeah you can said that i can use different disk for differrent OSes, but its annoying. One clarification, i dont care about real AHCI things like NCQ, TRIm etc, i care only write / read performance in Win98x, without patch is 1 MB/s and freezes during file operation make new HW retromachine dont useful. Hello, im trying to force Geforce 1030 as primary video card on Asus M5A97 R2.0 - AMD970 AM3 board. Problem is that i got display output only on G7950GT, even when is this card disabled in Device manager or set to PCI VGA driver. I dont care about output during booting, but when Windows 7 - i need to get Geforce 1030 as primary videocard, i need to have Geforce 7950GT in primary slot, because of old OS. Problem even is machine booted, i have got strange mode - when display drivers are ok, in as display manager i have VGA safe service, there is setting in Nvidia panel to change primary video card, but i can start it, because im getting message that not display is connected to Nvidia adapter so wizzard cant start.. Problem could be that Nvidia - 7950GT is using Geforce 309 driver and Geforce 1030 - 384 driver. I dont care about Geforce 7950GT is possible to set Windows 7 to completly ignore this card or pci-e slot where it is would be nice.. When is G1030 only card in first or second slot it works great.

Yeah, because otherwise someone could think that it working everywhere, if there would be some readme file about how to debug it, it would already post some logs. Its booting on clean system with same HW and in 32 bit mode, so it would be HW issue, to list here list of hw make no sense, now i can post only very long Autoruns log.

Im a bit disappointed, then now i see, that there 3 different Sata patches, i though that there is 1 universal and i dont even have one which most important - 106 for Sata in AHCI mode, pleas send me it. BTW i just tested performance of file transfers, without Sata patches and around 1 MB/s, so patch is really needed, i got have any free Sata I or II device to test, if is this error is only related to Sata III hdd. Yeah czech is PITA, but i far as i know there is not any language pack, its my old installation with lots of tweaks i dont want to reinstall it. I hope that error codes are same for language version of Win 98. This error message says: Device isnt presented or dont work properly or dont have installed all drivers // its pretty general error.. Ok is not removable in Safe and Normal mode, so patch should be supplied with some removal utility. I dont know i it matters, but devices which could be removed also missing some descriptions. Your terabyte patch is installed, for error from Paragon NTFS look at image bellow.

I have tried this patch - last version on 3 machines and 4 installation, almost clean Windows XP SP3 installation worked, but for my older installation i always got Page_fault error during boot - i still time to check error logs (no minidumps and nothing in the nblog even when i use enable logging boot option), but patch is not probably compatible with some my favorite application which need a driver.

I have 5 controllers, but i cant remove them, even in Safe mode is not controller remove option available. ATA0104 - is have tried it, because nothing worked, is ATA0104 still actual, or i should use only ATA0108? I have not now any VIA controler, in had it in the past on this machine, now i have only intel 865. On second new machine (AMD 970), i have tried to install patch - 104, but im not able to make W98 boot when is disk are connected to controller in Sata mode even in safe mode, i always get Windows protection error. I wonder how many controller devices i should have in device manager, because after patch application in have on PCI IDE controller devices and Primary + Secondary controller devices - with exclamation mark (im booting in IDE mode, because otherwise im not able to boot at all). Would be nice, if in bios would be option to disable controller for Sata port 1-4 or 5-6, but it isnt. So i dont know which controller is Device manager is related to which disk device. I also tried to experiment with other Rloew patch, Terabyte patch, i dont know if 2 TB drive is supported, when is run 48bitlba - i got drive in the list and supported, but i dont see any NTFS partition, when i install Paragon free NTFS for Win98.

Ok update: With Rloews patch and flashed Bios is Geforce 7950 GT working well, i just test few games i was ok, i only suffer classical microcomputer - even when are average FPS - 90, there are dips to 0,15,10 FPS, every cca 30, i tested in all games - Q3, Unreal tournament 99, Warcraft III. Lasttime is i fixed it by Unofficial SP3 patch, this machine is still vanilla, even not EIDE DMA patches, even controllers are vanilla. I discovered by installation of some game demos, that storage performance is now poor, i didnt benchmarked it, but its something like 1-5 MB/s transfera, its really slow, even on old computers it was faster. I wonder how is best way how to enable and install rloew Sata patch on this vanilla machine, im using internal port 5 a 6 for 2 HDD, no other devices and other sata controller. Picture of my present configuration added. Sound with Sound blaster Audigy - SB0162 - playback device is now there, its working, but USB audio device is still not in playback devices (same device with other computer is working), i think that still problem is related to USB driver, without nUSB drivers wasnt USB card properly recognized, with nUSB was somewhat found but is not working properly, but im not even sure if nUSB controller is properly installed. I noticed on Win 7 that - after connection of USB soundcard was 4 USB devices recogniyed and installed.

I dont agree, your idea would work only in world where would be 1 skill - old OS details, in real multiskill world, it doesnt work. Im not shame im not trying be master of everything and waste of mine time of some details of old OS, when only thing i care with it is gaming on it, these detials are not my primary business or hobby is only obstacle / hurdle in my way.. I think that some people are too much obsessed by tools and by real creation of something own.

I would say that im pretty time effective, because ask here is best way to gain best time/performance response / help. I think that knowledge should be shared and i really dont like people which think that people should invest lots of time to go to through all dead ends to be worthy enough right answer - i think that this attitude is slowing mankind, i dont need to be jack of all trades..
