  2. i mean its like come on ppl. i purposely partition for certain things and the boot partition is the #1 thing to do.
  3. i love how everyone is freaking out about this, have any of you used linux before?
  4. search your drive for *.mp3 or if you know an artist or song title search for that
  5. well i dont think can you state the opposite of what they are claiming, so they must be right, lol.

  9. ah, ok. 226BW is a nice monitor, i used to have one.
  10. just curious, but what happens when you unplug your ethernet cable and plug it back in? does it take a few seconds to reconnect or minutes?
  11. P182 is a nice case, I had the original P180 and I love the improvements that the P182 made to it. I have that same motherboard and psu as well and they are both very nice as you can tell. I also have a bunch of those 640GB WD drives, but you are lucky that you have the black ones Is there a reason for two video cards though? What are you doing with them? I just made my upgrade a few weeks ago and now I am very happy.
  12. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love Floyd If you want I have some good concert recommendations of theirs.
  13. are you able to manually enter the IP address of the PS3?
  14. yes only those versions have it. if MS does optimize it that would be great, if not, then it's useless for me. i have XP licenses sitting around so another VM would be a better choice if need be.
  15. heh Q6700, that's in my file server now. im running an i7 920 in my main rig, i should prolly update my sig. running virtualbox in ubuntu on my server works pretty well too. i don't even need XP though since all of my programs work with win7, but i see no benefit in this XP mode except that it is "free". vmware or virtualbox probably run it faster unless MS is really trying to optimize their virtual pc.
  16. im wondering, would i be better off running virtualbox with xp in it?
  17. there's nothing like being at college and the dorm building next to you has a fire alarm at 2am with a cpl hundred ppl standing outside. then sticking a speaker up to the window on full volume
  18. the great times i have had with some of his songs
  19. the sound blaster is most likely better than that onboard, especially for the age of that computer. do you know which sound blaster live it is exactly? use the sound blaster will help the system resources a bit if that is your main concern. if you want to record guitar/vocals and actually care about the quality then i would suggest a better card though. if you don't care too much about the quality then it won't matter much. also, this computer may have issues running some programs if you plan on doing any sort of production work.
  20. i never said video cards were the only part, do you even read what i am writing? i said that it is more beneficial to buy a better gpu over a cpu. that thing you quoted 2 times now says the cpu speed should be between 2600 and 3000 MHz which nearly all new intel cpus are and if not they can easily OC into that range.
  21. Finally we can agree. Too bad he opted for a NAS.
  22. I said that "supports" SSDs. not that it is the only OS that can use it.I It is the Windows 7 is optimized as I said, it will perform faster and live longer according to reviews/benchmarks. And your rating is 6.2, I said "6.1 or so".. Try getting higher than that, you do need SSDs or some sort of RAM based device to so. There is no sense in talking about future HDDs since they are not out yet and there are none that are promised to be much better than what we currently have.
  23. jcarle - you need to do research yourself. This is just one review, there are a few more out there on the subject. The games that you claim to be cpu starved are often unoptimized games. I was able to play wow with a 7800gt and opteron 170 without lag. So in short, if he has an extra $200 to spend, it would be more beneficial for him to invest that into a gpu than a cpu. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-gp...grade,1928.html
