i thought that vista has net framework 2.0 built in.. anyways you should be able to just install 3.0 without uninstalling previous versions.

Not to be a smartass but the 8600 isn't a good choice for anyone. It's much too underpowered for anything dx10 so if one needs dx10 an 8800 is really the only option. If one doesn't need dx10 a nice 7 series card would be the best choice. well a 7900gs>8600gt>7600gt the 7900gs and the 8600gt cost about the, give or take $20. 8600gt is dx10 and 7900gs is dx9. so unless you want dx10, the 7900gs is the way to go, but the 8600gt is still a good card, not that much slower than a 7900gs. also, an 8800 is kind of underpowered for dx10 also. take a look at some benchmarks.

kind of both, it's a running camp in the catskills... so the running is the bad part, but the rest of the times there is the fun part.

i'll also be gone but only for a week

wow that thing costs alot! anyways, do you know if it is connecting with your rotuer? login to your router and check what devices are attached to it. hopefully you will see the camera and it will list what ip address it is using.

No, it´s still 300MB/s, and in your words 3Gbps sata 3, not 2
-
no, i know the drives can't fill the available bandwidth. but is'nt it that the controllers max available bandwidth is 6Gb/s?

Free Large File hosting: the good and the bad...

If your host's TOS lets you. You're buying a service from them, and generally speaking, resale is not permitted. crap, i just checked with my host, they allow it if you buy their 25$/month plan. it includes unlimited domains+accounts with 7gigs of disk space. so if you have connections then it would be a good idea and a nice way to make some extra money, i'm thinking about doing it.. i'm doing some websites for people who still need to buy some space. -
ya thats why i was saying 5 drives. nontheless there would eventually be a certain number of disk that would cause a decrease in performance. ya that stupid SATA debate, what should i say then? that the ports max transfer speed is 6GBs? it really has nothing to do with the disks.
-
you can check into getting extra sata power cords from corsair. i have heard of other ppl doing that for some modular power supplies.

it uses less watts, somewhere from 90-95W as opposed to 105W i believe. it really means more overclocking and that is really the only reason that you would want one, unless you are a company that's deciding to purchase 100 Q6600's...Are you blind? You must be blind. You're either blind or stupid. dude, wtf is your problem! i'm giving him actual numbers while ignoring your posts b/c you do nothing but argue. im done with this thread.

well that all sounds cool but i really hope that the sata thing works.. they say "An arbitration algorithm ensures a balanced data flow." what i'm getting out of this is if you have 5 disks on 1 port, that all 5 will transfer at about the same speed, but that they won't transfer at their full speed. 2 or 3 drives will probably work fine tho. i think sata3 is coming out next year and that would work nice too if intel puts this feature in those mobos too.

vista drivers are great and so it vista 64bit, have you even used vista 64bit? also have you used vlite to see how much space the drivers actually use up? it's insane. they still should'nt charge you for the drivers. and why would'nt they support a product that many people still have? i was talking about you and your case. if you need it for that reason, then how is it not a perfect reason? and as you've said MS will go 64bit only and so is Mac. i think they are doing this b/c they feel that it is a superior OS..
-
well vista drivers are not the same as xp, we were talking about 64bit compatibility issues i thought? they are getting there and i can still play games without problems/lag, so im not complaining. the 2gig vm limit is a perfect reason to switch over. isnt creative charging ppl 10$ to dload its ALchemy drivers? now how is that good support? http://www.buy.soundblaster.com/_creativel...2X767VHL73GYR38

that's why you just buy space thru a webhost for 6-7$ a month. then you host other ppls sites on your server and charge them for the space.. -
i download 200mb+ files occasionally but it only takes a few min.. if i was on a slower connection then maybe i would care..

Who's "afraid" of the compatibility issues? It's certainly something that a person should be aware of and research before they make that decision, especially if they intend on using Windows Vista. Even the 32-bit video drivers for Windows Vista aren't entirely stable or optimized yet. For that matter, Creative's Vista sound drivers still aren't feature complete for all of their cards yet. They're closer, but they aren't there yet. For those of us who do gaming, Windows x64 is still very much new ground. Here's an example...and while it's a server issue it makes the case about the type of things you need to be aware of in the differences between Windows 32-bit and 64-bit. We recently upgraded a Windows Server 2003 SP1/SQL2000 SP4 32-bit based cluster to a Windows Server 2003 R2/SQL 2005 SP2 64-bit based cluster. One of the supporting applications requires Oracle OLE/ODBC drivers to pull data from another Oracle database. It took us a week of research and trying different configurations to finally get that one piece of the puzzle to work. While a week may not sound like a lot initially, when you start to consider that this is for a world-wide system and updates to the data aren't happening...well, I think you get the picture. Now scale that down and equate it to a hardcore gamer not being able to play some of their games just because they made the decision to go 64-bit without researching it. well you still decided to go with a 64bit OS.. why would you do it if it was such a pain? some programs may have problems but most do not. i'm not sure what your talking about with drivers tho.. the nvidia drivers for vista are good now, only real problems were with the betas. xp x64 there are no issues that i know of for nvidia drivers. as far as creative goes, they are know for horrible driver support. they could care less about their x-fi drivers or the people who wasted 200$ on an x-fi..

um.. do you guys really download files that are soo large that you need to get a download manager?
-
that is one large pst file! burn it to a dvd?
-
well it needs a driver. windows drivers usually work but for some reason it didnt..
-
no that is my point. many people only have raid0 and no backup drive. i know raid0 is not for storage. but ppl get large hdds and raid0 them, i dont get why, especially when its only meant for gaming.
-
you will be paying alot to be able to do that..
