Scrolled to bottom of bootlog.txt, and the last loadfail is webding.ttf, and the last load success is msgsrv32.exe .

I can access the bootlog.txt file in safemode, and also it is long. What exactly am I supposed to look for in the file.

no the bios recognized the correct size, and so does Me to a point.(149/160) The LLXX's patched files may be just be an issue with me (not the os but me) for when I tried it on my Main Me computer it did not work either.

Opps forgot to mention about the hard drive. The hard drive is 160 gigabytes. Curious though it recognizes 149 gigs of the 160. I have a feeling that this is part of the issue.

Alright this time I chose logged boot (\BOOTLOG.TXT) instead of safe mode and got Blue screen of death message. File Name: acpi(02) + 00001409 Error: 0E : 0028 : FF03B779

BUMP I've installed windows Me onto the netbook, but can only boot into it with safe mood . I dont get a blue screen of death, but if I try to do a normal boot it just forever loads on the Logo screen.

Actually I find that hilarious. Windows 2k is regarded as the greatest windows os, and people were too afraid to use it. Yet again windows xp was disdaned when it came out. I guess that's why nt 4 has 6 (and a half) SPs.

Actually I'm in the process of setting up the Windows Me install now, I finally got my hands on a spare flash drive I could use to put Me on. I now that nt is 95 era, but I never used nt 4 or 2000 before (dont hurt me ). So I decided to try it out on some net books I had. I expected a challenge since they are 2008 era netbooks, but something to try non the less. If nt 4 is an issue than nt 5 will come I guess. (or maybe 98 ) EDIT: Me is currently installed being installed on one of my Acers. Good to know. The only issue I'm having now is installing the OS onto the laptop. The setup runs in the begging then it just restarts. Do you know how I can force install it.

I'm using it just to make M$ mad . I've put it on my POSReady pc is what makes it even more funny in my opinion .

Is the driver a 98 driver or a Me driver, for trying to use 98 drivers on a Me system could be a pain in the butt.

Thanks I'ma try those out. I heard from around these parts that you know a lot about nt 4 (and other OS's), and If I recall properly you run one. Is there anything else important that I should know before trying this pre dinosaur OS.

(No I did not download x64) .Though it doesn't matter for I got non the less, and was just trying to prove that there is no reason to be afraid of no more MSE for XP for it can be found else where.

Just to let you know you can still get MSE from filehippo http://www.filehippo.com/download_security_essentials_xp . Till which after download Windows updater will give you an option to download the latest which they removed from XP download at M$ site.

Interesting you said that for it reminded me about the conversation I had with my dad last week. We were talking about XP EOL and he said something that caught my attention. He said that he wouldn't be shocked if M$ purposefully stated to sabotage windows XP to make it unsafe and unstable. (Maybe by giving out XP security holes or a "Reverse" update) Sadly I don't want to admit it, but I too can sadly see M$ doing something that low. If they will do that I dont believe so, but their actions in the last couple of years really doesn't help make it seem a possibility .

Well this very interesting indeed . Plug and play will be an issue, but nothing that cant be over come. Stability is supposedly good so messing around a bit shouldn't hurt. The only other question I have is was there any attempt to extend 4's kernel like the kernelex project for 98/me and 2k?

I've decided to pull out my old NT 4 and install it on a Netbook with the same specs as the one I'm putting ME on. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171303-can-an-acer-aspire-one-aoa150-run-windows-me/ . The question really is how would NT 4 compare to windows 2000/XP in performance. (Left it broad for interpretation)
