Babis - yeah, I seem to have started switching icons almost as much as visual styles. When you think about it - the icons are really part of the style. I have started messing around with some icon packagers - like iphile and eicons, but haven't spent much time with them yet. I would really like to be able to load up the right icon 'theme' with a quick 'click' but not there yet. re the wallpaper - I thought it went kinda well with this yellow style. LS_Dragons

Here is mine --- the Style is KoL's MM port (comes in both Yellow and Graphite). I replaced the start button with my own. The icons at the top of screen are ChaNinja BlockOS icons: LS_Dragons

Agree Conan - BUT, as you are well aware, Home is a basic subset of Pro. If you cannot do an easy upgrade in that situation - then ................... LS

According to this: http://support.microsoft.com/search/previe...b;en-us;Q292607 You are able to 'upgrade' from Home to Pro. You should be able to boot the Pro CD and follow the upgrade instructions. Good Luck LS_Dragons

OK guys. I agree that it is probably easier to DL again. Just wondered about a tool to fix it. Thought I had seen one some time or another. The song was a bit hard to find - but I will give it another shot. LS_Dragons

Hey guys. I know I have read about tools that will repair an MP3 file. I don't mess much with MP3's - but download a few now and then. I D/Led an MP3 but the playback is too slow. What is the right tool to fix the file to play back at the correct speed????????? LS_Dragons

You mean XPerties can read? As for pre-ordering, check on Amazon.com. They usually have pre-ordering available sooner than anyone: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/047...3392567-7287962 Lates LS_Dragons

Home -- there are a few sites that you will use to find almost EVERY visual style: Theme XP -- http://www.themexp.org Neowin -- http://www.neowin.net/bboard/forumdisplay....p?s=&forumid=36 Deskmod -- http://www.deskmod.com/ These Visual Styles ( or themes) are very cool. I change about every 2 or 3 days - currently rotating between these favorites: Sosumi Caution ChaNinja Simpli Milk PlaqueMod Enjoy -- LS_Dragons

Hey BW -- it is probably the visual style you are using. Try using a different VS and see if the columns come back. I have had thisproblem once or twice, and as far as I could tell, it was a slightly mis-coded visual style. Lates LS_Dragons

Go ahead and try it for a couple of days.... Make a RESTORE POINT before you install it - just in case. I agree with AAronXP -- gets annoying after a day or so. I also uninstalled fairly quickly. LS_Dragons

Give me some good reveiews to help out the selling
LS_Dragons replied to XPerties's topic in General Discussion
Hey XPerties. Glad you git it to work. If you really want to accept credit cards or whatever - go get a PayPal account. It is easy and they only take a small % cut of the transaction amount. Less than a real credit card processor charges. Once you have the PayPal account - go in and EDIT you item in ebay and add that you accept PayPal. You will get your money much faster that way. -
How do you enable a feature in Outlook 2002
LS_Dragons replied to LS_Dragons's topic in Microsoft Office
Nope - that is what I was trying to say in my post - the idiots who set up our 'corporate' installation managed to take that feature away -- it is GREYED out, so cannot be enabled. I was hoping someone on the board here might know enough to describe a way to hack it back into play. Thought it might be in a outlook related file - like a policy or something. Not real hopeful - but figured I have seen a ton of stuff here on the board that was new to me, so I would give it a shot. LS -
OK - who is an Outlook genius out there? The numbnuts IT folks where I work have decided (in their infinite wisdom) to disable a feature I really like in Outlook 2002. They have disabled the "Suggest names when typing in the To:, CC:, BC: field" feature. Not sure how they did this - but I am pretty sure I should be able to get it back. Just don't know where to look. The option is greyed out when you go to advanced email options. Anyone out there have a suggestion on where to go to get this feature back? Thanks LS_Dragons

If you have made an error, so that a mis-spelled entry keeps showing up - you can delete just that entry without clearing the whole list. When youstart to type - and the appropriate entries drop down - just highlight the incorrect one and press the delete key. The 'bad' item will be gone. LS

IconXP from Aha Soft is pretty good. Can create icons, change them, and save sets as a 'theme' LS

OK guys - I have a brain stumper for you. Lets say I have an XP system with 4 user accounts on it. Admin, User1 (with admin priveleges), User2, User3. The thing runs fine Admin, user2 and user3. User1 is hosed. I have been wanting to blow this installation away and reinstall XP. So here is the question? Is there a way to preserve the user profile information on a seperate disk while I do 'Xperties' favorite maintenance method Format/FDisk/Reinstall. Thanks - LS_Dragons

This sounds like a very odd (and annoying) problem. I am able to access each way just by double clicking the drive I want. I have the drives mapped so they show up in 'My Computer' --- have you tried that? Of course - these are all "my" systems, so I am not just trying to access 'shared folders'. I have the entire drive shared. Maybe that is why I have no issues. LS_Dragons

A trick I have used on an almost exact similar 'home' network is to add a user to each machine that is a duplicate of the main user on My machine. For example - my name on MY machine could be: LS_Dragons with password 123456 Set up a user on the Win2K machine as LS_Dragons with password 123456. This user does not have to be the logged on user - but because it has credentials - and is the user that is connecting - it seems to work perfectly. LS_Dragons

A bit late to offer this --- BUT -- they info I read on SP1 indicated that you could install it with the ability to uninstall. You had to select that option during the install process. Oh Well - you are beyond that point now. 1st thing I would try is to just install XP again. It will tell you you already have it installed - but DO NOT SELECT REPAIR -- select new installation. This just might leave your programs etc in place. I have seen it leave them - and not leave them, so you are just giving it a shot. If it doesn't leave them, but goes ahead and installs - you still might be able to find ad copy data files to a new location. Then I would go ahead and FORMAT --> REINSTALL. LS_Dragons Oh - and then wait for M$ to RTM the SP1 before installing. They are warning ALL beta testers to NOT INSTALL the beta on their 'main productivity system' - indicating that they are not very sure about its stability.

Since it appears that you have more than 1 physical hard disk drive, I would restate my reply to one of your earlier posts. But first, I am not sure what you mean by 'extra drive'. Anyway --- on your 2nd physical disk, copy any data files you want to preserve. Then boot to DOS and use fdisk on the 1st physical disk drive and create 2 partitions (these will end up being C and D). Then, format both C and D. THEN - install WinME on C. Then install WinXP - it will go onto D by default. It will also create a boot.ini file that will make XP the default - you will have to select WinME from a menu if you want to boot to it. Now - you will have to re-sinatll your applications and copy your data files back to where you want them. This is the ONLY sure fire way to get a clean and stable dual boot. LS

I just came across this site - it provides details of TONS and TONS of applications that our systems may be running. These applications - especially those pesky things that end up running in the background with (or without) our knowledge - are often the cause of many of our system stability problems. Open TASK MANAGER - pick a name of something running - and look it up here: http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages...tartup_full.htm Get all the info on what the application is and what it does. LS_Dragons Mod - if this should go in Web Sites etc - please move.
