  1. I take it phone activation still works?
  2. I guess I'm not as up in arms about this one, only because hardware vendors deprecated driver support for Vista and Windows XP, well before their expiry dates (I know CPU blocking might be unprecedented). My question is, will Windows 7 and 8x install on these CPUs without issue? I suppose if that was able to happen, then Microsoft should let the systems run in a compatibility mode of some sort. But I suppose I wonder why can't Microsoft exercise their "subject to change without notice" clause and say "Look guys. We're in a different business climate now. We need to streamline support testing and maximize profit. In doing so, we need to accelerate the deprecation of older systems, so that we have one corporate vision." Besides, since it's their product, can't they do with it as they wish, even by providing limited support based on certain new conditions? I guess, the only reason I'm not so worked up on this, is that I can run Windows 8 on older but still suitable hardware. Not meant to enrage anyone.
  3. So it's increased by ten months, is that correct? October 10th, 2023?
  4. Well if you have ultra late generation CPUs, and you're running Windows 7 or 8.1 - watch out! https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4012982/discusses-an-issue-in-which-you-receive-a-your-pc-uses-a-processor-tha
  5. I decided to uninstall both and just reinstall the security only update. It seems to run more brisk and responsively. I hope it's not just my imagination. Perhaps there are server only improvements that don't translate well to Windows 8 (in the monthly rollup) - just a guess though.
  6. I noticed something slower (but smoother) in video rendering. When I minimize a window, I clearly see the animation. Whereas before, I never saw it (I only used to see it animate the maximize action).
  7. Well it works so I was able to restart. So far, so good.
  8. OK I'll give it a whirl. Cross your fingers! Crap here we go!
  9. I'm alive. Rebooted with this month's updates. And yes I would believe that only the Flash and Security Only are relevant here. However .... Would the Security wrap up (107 MB) contain January and Februay's updates?
  10. OK testing the links you gave for the x64 updates ... rebooting.
  11. Wow! I have been slow on this. I guess after a couple months it hasn't been such a priority ...lol. I will look later though.
  12. By the way, wouldn't repackaging your OS with changes made be illegal to redistribute anyhow? It would be like me slimming down XP with NLite, and placing it online, no?
  13. Especially the case now that Cyberfox is biting the dust. Cyberfox will shift to 52 ESR (likely today) and then die once the ESR cycle has completed.
  14. 10-4. Still, good to know.
  15. Is that true Tripedacus? So if I lend you a Windows DVD and you install the OS with your license, that's illegal? I thought it wasn't. Good to know.
  16. I just don't get that. Once you excise all of the metro stuff from Windows 8x, it really looks more like a windowing system than 10 does. The caption buttons (min/max/close) in Windows 10 and UI are more flat than 8x by a long shot. And the dialog boxes in 8x are more like Windows 7. I just don't get the dislike for Windows 8.
  17. So it'll be March when we see the next updates. Wow! That seems like a real regression for Microsoft! https://www.sevenforums.com/news/405295-february-2017-security-update-release-delayed.html
  18. I don't think there is a precedent for that either - where no updates were issued in a month prior to Windows 2000 Professional. I don't recall how Windows 98 and ME were scheduled for updates, or did they just come at random?
  19. Wonder when it will be?
  20. I switched over to the bulletins tab, but only January's patches are there. Still awaiting February.
  21. So I take it this is where we will now find posted updates for Windows. Nothing is showing up yet https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/security-guidance
  22. Now Pale Moon v27.1 is fully working with Facebook. But not without a lot of arguing over there. On to the OP's topic (oh wait! That's me), I wonder if we'll actually get any updates tomorrow. I'm curious to see.
  23. Now can you not remove source files by using the DISM command. Then when you check the status of features is shows in a command window as "Disabled With Payload Removed"
  24. If I had to place a bet, I think the x64 Edition and Server 2003 variants would (in x64 builds). If I could take half the money off the table, I think particular XP installations could do it.
  25. I have a hard time understanding how you're getting stuttering issues on WinNT6x, especially on a Quad Core. Those system actually make MORE use of the hardware than XP does. I'm baffled. What is it that you're trying to accomplish? There is no way that Vista or Windows 7 should have such difficulty, unless you're short on RAM or using an older GPU. Just guessing though.
