  1. Yeppers - I learned since that's not the reason .... but ..... Are you saying that if I restore IE 10, and then install a February 2019 security rollup - I CAN upgrade to IE 11? For real? I have installed the latest IE10 rollup, so it sounds like (from your description) all I need to do is restore IE10 (which would mean that my first reason is actually in part - true after all)
  2. And just how stable is Windows 2000 with KernelEx? Does it slow down the OS any?
  3. How usable is Windows 2000 these days? I actually preferred it to XP (that was until the x64 Edition came to be)
  4. So even the 4.304.4 version won't work after this? I was finding that on my folks system (especially when browsing) that the CPU fan went into high gear (same for my old Vista system). comodo improved that. For those who stayed on MSE, was it still slow?
  5. As for Waterfox, it is not based on UXP, and as for the new Alpha release of Waterfox v68, Photon, WebExtensions and Bootstrapped Add-Ons will be embraced.
  6. I was expecting you to include Q4OS. I just never felt Zorin was all that Windows Like. Now RoboLinux looks interesting. Can you just run a Windows application seamlessly on the Linux dektop, or does it need to boot the whole OS in a VM?
  7. Der Komissar by After the Fire. But I'm listening on analog tape.
  8. I liked Q4OS as well (very XP-like)
  9. Crap! I was really hoping someone would pull an Easter miracle and make IE 11 install on to Windows 8. But here's what I REALLY wanted. In a perfect world, I would have upgraded IE10 to IE11, and then removed Internet Explorer from Add/Remove Programs. As it stand right now, I still have Internet Explorer libraries and DLLs on my system since they are used by other applications. Would I be able to replace those files with ones from IE 11 for Server 2012? Thanks again greenhillmaniac. You really help shed some light on this stuff. :)
  10. On an old cassette, Charlene with "Never Been to Me" (almost ashamed to admit that ...lol - almost)
  11. That answers my question WinClient .... I received the same darned error. I thought it was because I used Add/Remove Components to remove IE 10. Crap!
  12. Very relevant jaclaz (I don't hate thread bumping). Thank Gawd I don't used live tiles on Windows RT, and I completely disable the Start Screen on PC-based Windows 8. Whew!
  13. Back on topic for a second, the IE 11 download for Server 2012 is NOT working on Windows 8 for me anyway. I have removed IE 10 using the Add/Remove Components back when I installed my system, so maybe that's why it didn't work
  14. So far it says "Not applicable to my computer" on Windows 8. Now I have removed IE 10 using the Add/Remove Components. I will try restoring it back, and seeing if that allows me to upgrade. I hope so. If anyone has IE 10 intact on Windows 8 and tries to upgrade to IE 11, does it work? (Just tried the Embedded 8 version - still no go)
  15. Typing from Edge Portable right now. Very VERY fast. All I wish I could do now is: (a) set tabs below the address bar (b) change load characteristics and rendering delay (akin to content.timer and nglayout.initialpaintdelay settings in Firefox)
  16. Beautiful. I will try it later today.
  17. Is there a way to download directly (immediately) without all of the "Notify Me" nonsense?
  18. Now Edge was natively a UWP application, right? So on Windows 8, does Edge Canary work in Metro, or as a desktop application?
  19. I just wish it would run on Windows RT. I'm happy with Firefox Quantum on Windows 8, but for the Surface tablet, IE 11 is sooooooo slow! I wonder if an RT compilation of Chromium based Edge would improve it.
  20. Ouch! I hope IE 11 will work for Server 2012.
  21. Where is the URL for this @Stefan43?
  22. Wow! Can't believe it's finally all over with. So what will most of you do now? I mean, I run Windows 8 but only with updates up to November 2017. How long do you think XP will be usable?
  23. That's actually damned clever
  24. I thought that Skype Web now only works with Chrome and Edge (Blink) https://www.ghacks.net/2019/03/08/the-new-skype-for-web-does-not-work-in-firefox-or-opera/
