Office chairs have arm rests, you rest your elbow on an arm rest, other people rest their arms on arm rests, undead works in an office, undead is licking other people's elbows also. DL

Within the realm of possible true stories but alas, it's from a comercial. Can't remember the product. There is a video of it on the web somewhere that I have seen also. DL

Mmmmm. If you are serious, then my appologies. There is no such program. What I did was open his picture in Paint.net, cut the oval and gave him Alicia Silverstone's eyes on the background layer. Then did a poor job of blending the edges of the two images. DL

Story #1) There was this young couple who had a terrific argument one morning before leaving for work. The wife couldn't get her dress zipped up in back, so she backed up to her husband and motioned for him to zip up her zipper. "I'll show you zipping", he thought, and briskly whipped it up and down the slide till it broke. He had to cut her out of her favorite dress, which didn't make her happier with him. They went their separate ways to work, both boiling mad at each other. The wife did a slow burn all day. When she got home that evening, she walked through the garage and saw her husband under the car fixing something, with only his legs sticking out. She decided her moment of REVENGE had come. She leaned over, grabbed his pants zipper, and whipped it up and down. Quite contented, she walked into the kitchen, where she found her husband standing by the sink. Sheepishly, she asked him, "Who is in the garage, under the car?" She was told it was a neighbor who had come over to help work on the car. The acutely embarrassed wife asked her husband to help explain the situation to the neighbor, and they both returned to the garage. They asked him to come out from under the car, but he didn't respond. When they finally dragged him out, he was unconscious and bleeding, from slamming his head into the underside of the car each time he got zipped by surprise!! #2) Our story is not complete without telling of a man who could not give a convincing explanation about his broken arm. He kept muttering something about trying to stick his arm through his car window that he thought was down. That was the public version, in private, he confessed that it happened when his wife brought some potted plants indoors after they had been out on the patio all day. A friendly garter snake had hidden in one of the pots, and later slithered out across the floor, and the wife spotted it. "I was in the bathtub when I heard her scream," he related. "I thought she was being murdered, so I jumped out of the tub, and ran to help her. I didn't even grab a towel. When I ran into the living room, she yelled that a snake was under the couch. I got down on all fours to look for it, and just then my dog came up from behind and 'cold-nosed' me. I guess I thought it was the snake, and I fainted dead away. "My wife thought I'd had a heart-attack and called for an ambulance. I was still groggy when the medics arrived, and lifted me onto a stretcher. Just as they were carrying me out, the snake came out from under the couch, and obviously frightened one of the medics. He dropped his end of the stretcher.....and that is when I broke my arm." DL

You could also take your problem to MSFN malware and Tarun might be able to help you. DL

We were warned. Unfortunately, some of that stuff is out there in other locations. There is another site out there that wasn't listed that is half good and half that I can't look at. It seems that there are people out there with a greater morbid curiosity than I have. Do they just not have any sympathy or can't grasp death and what it really is? There are some sick people out there and the others are really, really weird. The really, really weird ones, I can tolerate. I can't look at them but I can tolerate. One of the more unfortunate things about the web and television is that young pups see this stuff ( I don't neccessarily have a problem with that ) and because it is more popular they think it is more average or within the bounds of normal. WRONG. Aaagh! If you haven't figured it out, you are going to need to. The generation following yours will pick up on what you leave behind. I'm sorry for what my generation has left behind. DL

Quake in pakistan razes entire extreme north [utter devastation]
mark replied to rupert86's topic in General Discussion
Please don't misunderstand. I can only speak for myself, but will assume the same for others. Not making a post about Pakistan, India and Afghanistan's earthquake does not mean there is no concern. The concern is equal to what it is and was for the tsunami victims and hurricane victims in Central America. Please do post your links. Each time I see reports on the devestation, I am more amazed and shocked. From what I have seen in the media, it looks like they are still trying to grasp what has happened. The world has seen two earthquakes in a short period of time and the mind boggling destruction and carnage. It's hard to grasp. Assistance is being sent. I hope it helps in the recovery the best it can. Like I said, please post your links. DL -
I remember a program I saw a while back, a keylogger, that could be installed by sending someone a picture in an email. When they open the image file, they see the picture and you spying program is installed. It goes unnoticed and emails you, also unnoticed, the information when you specify. DL

I use Google primarily but fall back to www.vivisimo.com occasionally. I like the way it tries to catagorize the different results. DL

Wow, huge change log. I was talking to my dad over the weekend and he, being the not to web savvy type, mentioned Skype. Caught me off guard. Might have to use it. DL

He is correct because he is pointing out how racism is used in both directions. You don't have to be racist to see racist behavior. DL

Nice rant. Both of you are correct. I think that making a good GUI for the first time around is important. It can give a good introduction to more complicated things. How about programs that are set up with novice, intermediate and expert modes? I can think of one good example here at MSFN. My dad flew Seafires after the war. As of about 15 years ago, only 2 of the original 32 in his squadron were still alive. They died over the years for various reasons but one was accidents like flying into the back of an aircraft carrier. DL

I think we use a good portion of our brains. To what degree we make use of it is another matter. The other thing is, you have to take into account how each individual's brain is wired. More synapses, different arrangements, greater cell count in some areas and so on. DL

To me, you are one of them ripken. If we keep control of our populations, it might turn out alright. DL -
I've seen that series before with the exception of the last picture. Photoshopped? It looks odd. All of a sudden, the image is fuzzy or smokey, unlike the others and the first crane appears to be back into a position it was in before. DL

A taste of Abbot and Costello. Who's on first. Audio version. It's a .wma file. Old, live recording. A little hard to understand. But good. Text version. It might clarify the dialogue. DL

jcarle, on the front page, reviews a new MS product. In it, he describes how he infected his system. In the past, I have used AVG and it pops up with a warning when something tries to infect your system. Later, I would look in my cache, using IE, and there would be the .exe's, unopened. Have fun. !! CPUs in 2060 Smarter Than Every Human Brain
mark replied to ringfinger's topic in General Discussion
Exactly! And this ROM is an intrinsic part of the whole computer. This ROM is manufactured into the computer at the time the computer is manufactured. The ROM is developed selectively and its blue print is stored in the genes. The genes inside a cell, if given the correct environment, turns itself into an organism. All that information is twisted up in microscopic thread. Take what others have said about the design of the chip and the coding that makes it run and compare it to the brain and there are some major hurdles. If we do manage to make something greater than ourselves, let's hope it's friendly. But the breeding slave part.............. DL -
Thanks for posting Gouki. I'm sure it goes on more than this poll is indicating. I have read someone mention that they take what they learn here and go to a forum in another language and that is one of the things that prompeted me to put up this poll. I am going to assume that they are to busy answering pm's to answere this poll. DL

CPUs in 2060 Smarter Than Every Human Brain
mark replied to ringfinger's topic in General Discussion
The cells in human brains have connections going in many directions to other cells. CPU's aren't built the same way. Humans are born with instinct- to suckle, breath, walk on two legs (yes, it's an instinct), curiosity (watch movement, lights, follow sound with eyes, grab something and put it in the mouth), etc.... A baby's brain is not finished with it's growth. The brain will change, physically, with knowledge. The brain will grow to accomodate the language it learns. The hypocampus will grow larger in people who have to learn a lot of patterns and and manipulate those patterns. The brain changes to accomodate it's environment. Will computers be able to do this? I don't know. DL
