  1. MS PowerStation FORTRAN 4.0 Hey I've heard it is very old, never updated now, and gives mediocre performance binaries. I am persuading my teacher to use something else, but I don't know what to recommend. Plz tell about something easy to use, as most of the ppl are not computer-geeks, but civil engineering users rather. Recommend an IDE. Don't care about the cost. Our management will make the deal.
  2. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051012/ap_on_...GZhBHNlYwM3MjE- http://newsbox.msn.co.uk/article.aspx?as=a...ae=windows-1252 An earthquake here at 8:52 A.M. PST (+0500GMT), saturday morning has caused great devastation. Complete cities have ben razed as if bulldozed. The death-toll as of yesterday is anything between or above 28,000 and 60,000. In the extreme north even mountains have been torn into 2. Great cracks have appeared across roads. In Balakot the earth split forming a canyon and an entire school building settled into it, complete alongwith 550 schoolchildren. Landslides and mudslides had blocked all cummunication too, but major roads are open again. Continuous hailstorm is also halting truck convoys and helicopters. Entire villages have been reported to have got thrown into the river Neelum. In some areas not a single soul has been left alive. The nation has lost an entire generation crushed under the rubble of their school-buildings. Don't know who will populate/power the country next . The earthquake was broad-ranged and also hit Afghanistan and India, but Pakistan is having the greatest no. of problems, the greatest no. of casualties, and the whole nation is still in shock. We need donations, monetary funding, tents, blankets, medical accessories such as gauzestrips, disposable syringes, anti-septic vaccines, first-aid medical kits, even candlesticks and matchboxes. I have been busy the last 2-3 days, co-ordinating some volunteer work, but today I visited my regular internet spots and I was amazed at fnding no concern @ MSFN. Neowin has had a long thread. I'm in a hurry now. I'll sure come back with some links for donations etc. (The greatest concern here is the medical one as it is the 4th day, and live-recovery chances have to a great extent diminished, the only things they are finding are corpses, but now is the need arised to save the survivors from measles, cholera, dairrohea, gastroentritis and pneumonia, since the season is autumn). Hence Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan, PM of the PATA area AJK said, "I am the prime minister of a graveyard." And friends, we need lots of prayers too.
  3. I currently have the Peugot 206 and Mazda Miata, all tuned up etc. (I win all races and outruns in one go). Also a Lexus IS200 but I don't like it (performance was getting nowhere after spending a few thousand so I lost interest). I think the best course would be: 1 RWD 2 FWD 2 AWD All five slots are unlocked now. Or maybe there should be 2 RWD and 1 AWD instead. I like RWDs in the real life but in the game they are difficult to handle since they output so much power the car begins to do 360-degrees turns. I have to tap the accel. on Miata continuously to get it in a straight line (even with the best tires available). Also, the AWDs handle too much like the RWDs, so what's theire benefits?
  4. I know that Dell LCDs are some of the best (although their systems are not as good). However there is no Dell dealership here in Pakistan. I don't want to import one panel from Dubai for a single customer.
  5. I need a 17" LCD monitor. Following brands are available here: Philips Viewsonic BenQ LG NuTech Which one would be the best best. No big resolution needed. Just 1024x768 or 1280x960. But wide angle veiwability should be there, and it is to be used in sunny area w/ curtainless windows, so brightness is important. No frills and fancies such as biult-in speakers etc. are needed. ______________________________ I installed the CPU driver for my Sempron 2800+ for soscket 754. Then I turned on CNQ in BIOS. Then monitored through CPU-Z realtime clock checker. The CPU runs at a constant 1607 MHz. Does it mean CNQ is not working? If yes, how to make it work. Mobo is an MSI K8N Neo w/ BIOS 1.7 .
  6. Oh yeah that's correct about cracks but I don't personally like them (regardless of the issue of piracy) since the originally shipped file is the most reliable one. What I really do with games is to create a nero .NRG image and then to continuously mount it through days & weeks until I finish the game. And nothing is working here such Nero Imagedrive, D-tools, and even the original CD. What is really surprising is that no_CD patch works when applied. And oh, the same CDs I have checked on 3 other systems seem to be working fine.
  7. Currently happening in NFS:HP2, and NFS:UG2, haven't tried other games but figured out an OS update named safedisc.exe. But that doesn't seem to help. :-( What should I Do?
  8. Going right now... EDIT: On noops, full of stuff like Win9x/ME drivers, but no XP driver . Does anybody know this chip being used on another card, in that way that driver will also work on this one.
  9. I can't find XP driver for this soundcard. The company seems to have finished, so there's no official website. On driver sites such as www.driverguide.com I can find drivers for Windows 98/ME, but not for WinXP. Somebody help me.....
  10. Thanks all of you. The softwares are preally proving good.
  11. Oh yeah I'm downloading the demo one from EFOFEX. I know that MS-Word can do (quite a poor) job w/ those sub- and super-scripts but you can't make a benzene ring with it .
  12. I need to type in lots of equations for chemical reactions for a chemistry assignment. I know that for maths equations, there is a tool named MS-equation 3.0 but even thoroughly searching help I couldn't find anything to do with chemical equations. What should I do? Is there any other software that I can use to type in equations & then copying them to MS-Word? Is there any plugin available for MS-Word I can use?
  13. I have an '89 Suzuki FX 800 minicar. It has a 800cc engine. I got its gearbox etc. 100% repair recently. Now it needs new tires but the mechanic says that the rims are not in as good condition as to accept tubeless radials. I want tubeless tires, and they are only radials, as the nylon-belted bias-ply aren't tubeless. So what considerations should I have when buying new wheel-rims. I want to improve the fuel economy. That's my number 1 priority. I am not going for looks. Just durable and long-life and lightweight so they make the fuel consumption lower. Currently installed tires are 145R12. Also 135R12 and 155R12 can be installed.
  14. The LGA775 is also called Socket T (since it was meant to evolve for the now-cancelled Tejas processor). You may call it slang-name or whatever it is, in the same manner that the the Socket 462 (of AMD Athlon XP) was also called Socket A.
