Can't change basic background after installing (WinXP x64)
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to Allubz's topic in nLite
You meant Service Pack 2, right? Anyway, I also did a bit of searching, but unfortunately came up with nothing. Good luck -
[Release] QuickTime Lite v4.1.0, 20Dec. 2010
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to Sp0iLedBrAt's topic in Application Add-Ons
Just updated to v.3.2.2 -
Thanks uid0. Bootland seems to be down at the moment, but I will look into it these days. Edit: Downloaded and will be back with feedback. Edit: I can confirm it is the same principle as the one I found and described in the previous posts.
-
I can confirm that the latter version of mkisofs.exe (cygwin1.dll included in the nLite program folder) won't work. nLite returned with an error "Image file was not created". One more advice: if you are using Avira Personal (free), disable it. It prevents copying the contents of the CD to a working folder with nLite by preventing Autorun, and reported a few errors, i.e. false positives.

They belong to member -X- and are put up on his website here http://win-x.co.cc/nliteimages.html They are made from the 1.4.9.1 version of nLite. I mentioned in post #3 that, in a conversation with -X-, he mentioned he wouldn't mind sharing the images if a proper guide (like this one) for use on MSFN was made. It would still be nice if -X- would confirm it. Cheers

So, I noticed nLite uses a version of mkisofs (never failed me) dated 10 September 2004. This got me googling for newer versions and, after a while I found what claimed to be the (stable?) latest version, compiled 30 April 2006. I tried it from Command Prompt, but it wouldn't load without cygwin1.dll (RedHat Emulation DLL), also included in the package with other cdrtools. I might run it through nLite to see if it executes silently and without problems. What is the latest version nLite can use? Cheers

Semi-unattended XP Pro SP2 install
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to Ckasdf's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Welcome to MSFN. As far as I know, you will be prompted to insert the product key and things will continue unattendedly (is this a word?). Now, I read some time ago, probably on the Win7 forum, about a script where you enter all the product keys you have and assigns them to given PCs. If it can be done on XP, it would give you a fully unattended process. -
According to the PID, this IS a retail version.
-
You should probably know that it's very unlikely you will get uploads, as people work with nLite according to their needs, and nobody knows what you want. Instead, why don't you upload your LastSession.ini so we can take a look? At the same time, use search and you will find other topics where extreme removal has been discussed. This sticky http://www.msfn.org/board/what-remove-some-programs-t66361.html will help you with what you shouldn't remove for other programs to run. Cheers

Setting / locking the explorer.exe view
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to besonen's topic in Pinned Topics regarding Windows XP
You'd have to be crazy. Yeah, thanks, very funny. I appreciate a bit of humour, especially when it's supported by facts. Nevertheless, I'm sticking to my question. -

What would I have to do to set the view to "Icons"? Thanks in advance. -
Cant install Adobe Flash Player silent install
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to Waleed's topic in Application Installs
@radix Just interested, do these .msi installers include that crappy "optional" security scan software? -
Well, this comes up on google. Open regedit and follow this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout See if you can find this value: "Scancode Map"=hex: Of course, things are a bit more complicated because I don't know if nLite has actually removed any files pertinent to the function.

Is it difficult to find, or it will be a while before a redistributable package for .NET Framework 4.0 is released? Edit: Thanks CoffeeFiend, I guess I didn't look where I was supposed to

If we are talking about an Install Shield installer with Data1.cab and Data2.cab, it won't extract properly, or may not extract at all if it was created with a newer version of the above mentioned installer.
-
No, it should not be a problem, if you closed nLite immediately after integrating SP3. I use individual updates, mostly because I want to control what I add. At the same time, here's another example: KB923561 (I think) is an update to Wordpad, and I remove wordpad from my CD. Also, there was an update in February (or March) 2010 which addresses Movie Maker, which I also remove (as well as Outlook Express). Did you try a virtual machine before you installed? Maybe you could try one now to see if the symptoms show there as well.

Thank you very much! It will help a lot of users, as we can finally refer it to everybody. As to suggestions, I've been referencing most people to -X-'s image guide, since it contains updated screenshots of the latest version of nLite. Anyway, -X- agreed on sharing the images in the case a guide would be made. So, I have uploaded the images here http://www.mediafire.com/file/gywdkj2lzyj/nliteimages.7z and I think they will serve the purpose. Maybe -X- will give his accordance again in this topic. All the best,

How Many Times Can You Use Nlite On An Xp Installation?
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to chrisoborski's topic in nLite
Your answer is in the title. You have to start with a clean, untouched (not previously nLited) source. The error you got is typical of using nLite more than once on the same source, but more errors will follow if you succeed to install. See this in post #4 http://www.msfn.org/...__1#entry846959 This in posts #8 and 9 http://www.msfn.org/...__1#entry633655 There are plenty more posts if you use search -
Digerati has a good point. Also, islands are usually round, so walking on the shore/ends would mean you evade the fire and reach the other side where everything has already burned down.
