A little clarification may be in order: I meant he shouldn't meddle with them, I wasn't trying to say he should delete them

Yes, it is. Look at this and welcome to MSFN

How about installing from USB? http://www.msfn.org/...ndows-from-usb/ or (more specific) here: http://www.msfn.org/...omusb-with-gui/ Edit: Welcome to MSFN

rootsupd.exe but I doubt it should be in the hotfix section. It can be run without silent switches in RunOnce. I agree that it is illogical that only Tweaks is selected, and yet there is an Unattended section in the Last Session.ini

Here's a thought: you might look around for posts about using nLite with recovery partitions (I'm assuming your system has one, since it came pre-installed). It doesn't always work, but it's either that, or buying a CD. http://www.msfn.org/board/do-make-bootable-xp-cd-out-i386-folder-t120423.html http://www.msfn.org/board/need-recovery-disk-sony-vaio-vgc-rc210g-please-help-beca-t130307.html

[SVCPACK] DirectX 9.0 setup (June 2010)
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to lemming350's topic in Application Add-Ons
As far as I know, DirectX 11 (as well as v.10) has never been released as a stand-alone release. -
[Release] FFDShow Add-on 09Feb2014 Rev.4530
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to Sp0iLedBrAt's topic in Application Add-Ons
Updated to latest version 24/05/2010 Rev.3452 by clsid -
Ultraform, allow me to repeat what johnhc already asked: please attach (do not copy/paste) your Last Session.ini file which you can find in your XPCD (made with nLite) or in Program Files\nLite\Presets. That way we can resolve this more quickly.

Office 2010: Portable Office apps coming your way!
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to Tripredacus's topic in Microsoft Office
This might entice a few more users to purchase the new Office bundles. I wonder if there are (probably not, or it would cost at least another $500) any options to upgrade from Office 2003? -
Yes and yes (if you are using the Silent .NET Maker); otherwise you could download and use one of the ones already made, and there are plenty of them around, some even localized in several languages. There hasn't been a .NET Framework security/stability update or hotfix for versions 3.5SP1 and down in quite a while (at least two months), so they should be pretty up-to-date.
-
Yes, there are nLite add-ons and there is a Silent .NET Maker which you can find if you use search in this sub-forum. Anyway, the add-ons found on the RyanVM forums are also compatible with nLite.

Include it as it is from the Hotfixes, Addons and Update Packs section. Make sure you are installing it from one clean/separate working folder, and not the Desktop. Create a folder, say C:\Addons and add all your add-ons from there; the same goes for MS updates and hotfixes. Some users have reported than when they integrate from other folders, like My Documents or Desktop, it also copies everything else in that folder.Report back

You'll find at least five of them here http://www.winaddons.com/nlite-addons TweakUI here http://www.msfn.org/...wertoys-for-xp/ Edit: I guess you didn't use search, since you would have found all these in this same sub-forum.

Solved problem with Realtek High Definition Audio
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to Sp0iLedBrAt's topic in Device Drivers
Actually, it does. It's the hdaudbus.sys file which should be present in system32/drivers. When I install a clean XPSP3, it immediately recognizes the audio card and the modem and installs them. All I have to do is add the manufacturer drivers. -
Correct me if I'm wrong, but should(n't) you apply the UxTheme patch in nLite? I don't know if this is just for unsigned themes, but about a year ago (in my early beginnings with nLite) I tried to integrate a .msstyles theme without the patch and it was unsuccessful. Yes, if you create an $OEM$ folder with the following structure: $OEM$->$->Web->Wallpaper; put the wallpaper in the last folder. For more info, see this http://unattended.ms...xp/view/web/59/ (photo near the bottom of the page). If you want it to be the default wallpaper on first logon, then see my post here http://www.msfn.org/...post__p__924009 Edit: According to the screenshot, it was an XPSP2 and SP3 was added. On first look, nothing has been altered, but I really can't say much more.
-
Yes, if you have them as .reg files, you can add them in the RunOnce section or through a batch file (again through RunOnce) with something like regedit /s myfile.reg
-
Oops.. if this is really the case, I would ask for my money back. AFAIK, computer stores aren't allowed to release their own builds into retail sale, let alone that store is not allowed to use nLite for any purpose like this. How will you know that something else, e.g. a theme isn't also integrated (and is now causing you problems)?

And if we take MS's explanation (XP=experience), than we have... a religious experience?

[Solved]confused about locating windows installation
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to jordanwb's topic in nLite
I wouldn't say SOLVED. Use your XPSP2 CD. Extract KB936629.exe (SP3) from the ISO and integrate it with nLite. From then on, if you have any problems, don't hesitate to ask. Cheers -
How to copy a file from the CD to the hard disk.
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to Outbreaker's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Using COPY or XCOPY commands from a batch file is pretty simple, with stating the exact path to the file you want to copy. @Outbreaker: one thing I learned in the forums is that sharing the solution to a problem is beneficial in many ways: it is accessible to everyone, it is easier to find and prevents posting on the same problem, thus giving time for others to focus on other problems. So, that's something to think about. Cheers -

[Solved]confused about locating windows installation
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to jordanwb's topic in nLite
I took the advice of one of the senior/wiser members here and created a clean XPSP3 and turned it into an ISO so this should technically work. Make sure you are pointing it to where a I386/AMD64 directory is located, which must be the root of the CD/ISO. Would you mind attaching a screenshot of the contents of the ISO if the above-mentioned does not work? -
If this is XPx86... in I386 folder of your XP CD there is a file bliss.jp_ that you need to change. 1. take a .jpg file that you want to use as background and copy it to C:\ 2. rename it to bliss(.jpg, of course) and open Command Prompt (cmd from Run) 3. type in the following command makecab C:\bliss.jpg C:\bliss.jp_ and press enter 4. copy the bliss.jp_ file that you got in C:\ into I386 folder and that will become your default background when you install

Exactly as I imagined; to be honest, it would have been a pleasant surprise to have that possibility. Agreed on the RunOnce, I do the same thing, although there are some applications (e.g. QuickTime Alternative) that include vcredist v.9 (C++ 2008) and install it by default in a silent install, so one less to care about. Cheers
