  1. It's individual; some 32-bit software works on X64, but most have their own versions. Which add-ons are you interested in? Firefox should work fine.
  2. After file copying and restart, when the screen "Press any key to boot from CD" shows up, do you press any buttons? You shouldn't
  3. If it is Intel SATA, why not try Fernando_1's modified drivers here: . They are optimized for minimum mistakes. Slipstreaming SP3 to MCE has been known to downgrade version number to 2.8 (if I remember well), so either don't try it or find a really good guide. I think there's a really good one here at MSFN. Make sure you copy the drivers to the root of the floppy, not in a folder. Good luck
  4. If you can't find it, why not make it on your own? Use the .NET Maker to put .NET 3.5 SP1 and all its updates into one add-on and/or switchless installer (according to your preference). It's not as complicated as it seems. Edit: If you're only installing .NET 3.5, this .ini file (settings) will do it for you. It is set to create an add-on which you can directly add to nLite as shown here http://win-x.co.cc/nliteimages.html in pic #6.
  5. copy your file to C:\ , e.g. program.exe Open Command Prompt and type in cd c:\ <-----press Enter makecab C:\program.exe C:\program.ex_ <-------------press Enter That's it
  6. Welcome to MSFN. One way is you create a virtual machine with WinXP as an OS and use it to create a slipstreamed CD. The thing is, for best practice, that nLite works best under XP, so could use nLite in the virtual machine. After that, there are ways to extract the ISO from the VM.

    Install XP

Have you set Boot from CD in BIOS?
  8. There are two ways of installing applications from an unattended CD: add-ons (for nLite) and RunOnce(Ex). For both ways you need to find out the silent parameters/switches for those applications, so they install without your involvement. The best way is to identify the type of installer. You can find help about that here http://unattended.msfn.org/ , under Intermediate Users/Applications. If you want to create your own add-ons, you can use the Add-on Maker, but have in mind it doesn't support all programs, so somewhere you will have to enter the silent switches manually. I suggest you use search here on the site, as well on Google, and you will find many applications that have already been created. If some program is too difficult for you, you can ask to have it made as an add-on in the Application Add-ons sub-forum here.
  9. Well, I took another look at your Last Session.ini and I see you included Java, Flash&Shockwave Player and Adobe Reader. I have to tell you there are up-to-date add-ons for all of those programs. If there is a specific add-on you haven't found, you can post a request in the Application Add-ons sub-forum of nLite. Adobe Reader: http://www.winaddons.com/adobe-reader-93/ Flash Player for IE: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/141826-release-adobe-flash-player-v100452-activex-add-on/ or http://win-x.co.cc/updates.html Flash and Shockwave: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6785 Enjoy
  10. Just to make sure, you are integrating it in text mode (not PnP), right? I went through the posts related to your problem and didn't find this information anywhere. For reference, see pic #11 in this guide http://win-x.co.cc/nliteimages.html
  11. And contact the people that sold you the bad XP copy and make a big fuss
  12. Well, welcome aboard. To be honest, I'm not quite following what you did, so please take some time and explain a little better. At the same time, attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. It could be that you are adding your applications in the wrong place/window in nLite. Please bear in mind that questions related to nLite should be posted in the nLite forum.
  13. entries.ini looks fine, but I'm not sure the switches are really the ones. Did you create your own add-ons in .zip or you downloaded them? http://www.winaddons.com/java-runtime-environment-6-update-18/ this will certainly work, and search will reveal that there is an add-on for almost anything you need.

    Lost Boot Defrag

wow! this is useful even for me not having a problem! fdv, where were you when I had problems with defrag support? xmf, please report back on the success of your action.
  15. What johnhc is saying is "do NOT integrate several SATA drivers for several motherboards using this method, or it will do exactly what it's doing now: fail". One driver will just overwrite the previous. If you want more than one SATA driver in your XP CD, you should use Driver Packs. Cheers
  16. Well, I just typed wmic into Command Prompt and it said: Please wait while wmic is installed. So it has to be installed first, and then you can run it. So (from RunOnce), you can first give it a wmic command, then some timeout of 10-20 seconds, and then let the commands run. It's worth a try.
  17. Is it OK to add updates for IE8 after the IE8 add-on? I usually use the tool by OnePiece and NonnoFabio that merges IE8 and its updates into one add-on and I recreate the add-on for every new CD.
  18. Welcome aboard. One of the best ways to make sure the DVD is bootable is to create a bootable ISO and burn it to a DVD. There are plenty of free programs to do that. Did you use the "Direct Burn" option?
  19. It's a software, not a driver, so it must come with an uninstall option.
  20. Yes, I've seen it with HP as well. Let's look at it like this: you probably have a Dell CD with motherboard drivers, but through that software they will offer you the latest drivers they approve of. Please, bear in mind that some OEM manufacturers release drivers that can not be found on other places (for e.g. HP releases IDT audio drivers which you can't get from the IDT website). Why not just install it, try it and, if you don't like it... Remember, you always have the right to change the channel
  21. Well, use a virtual machine to test the install. You can use the key, but you won't have to activate. That way, you can make it perfect for your needs.
  22. If so, then /qn should work perfectly.
  23. I'd say it's more freeing up space than speeding up. If you need speeding up, you could probably do some tweaks, like turn off Services you personally don't use. As to the product key, it will accept it and activate, as long as you don't remove files needed for activation, like OOBE in XP. Welcome to MSFN and enjoy Edit: you will also like this
