  1. Downloaded today for the first time, did the procedure and I must say it worked smoothly and quickly. I didn't test the finished product (v.10 EN), but I'm planning on doing so very soon.
  2. MSFN was my first serious one, excluding a few I've joined to download something. I joined Bootland yesterday
  3. Coke man here. I gotta say I've tried Coke in several different countries, including a few made in countries I haven't been to, and I'm leaning towards the myth that it IS made differently according to general taste in different countries. Additionally, whether Coke tastes differently is a question I regularly ask every foreigner I meet. Hmmm, maybe I should start a poll...
  4. Well, I did what it wanted me to do: I extracted the netfx30a_x86.msi from the .NET 3.5 SP1 package, pointed to it at the cue and the installation of NDP30SP2-KB976769.msp worked. May I just add that I also tried with a modified netfx30a_x86.msi from an AIO installer (Silent .NET Maker) and it didn't work. So, I'm renaming this to "SOLVED".
  5. USB, USB stick, or USB little key (word-to-word translation). Sometimes I just call it the "thingy".
  6. To expand on it, it appears that the package has three .msp files: NDP20SP2-KB976765.msp, NDP20SP2-KB980773.msp and NDP30SP2-KB976769.msp . The first two install just fine when extracted and run individually; the third, however, asks for the source netfx30a_x86.msi, which I don't have, as .NET 3.0 SP2 was installed as part of the full .NET 3.5 SP1 package. I can confirm all versions (including updates) show in Add/Remove Programs.
  7. I just tried to install NDP30SP2-KB982168-x86.exe and I got this error Action complete. Log File: C:\DOCUME~1\USER~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0-KB982168_20100611_223117875-Msi1.txt [6/11/2010, 22:35:51] (HotIron::MspInstallerT<class HotIron::ApplicablePatchPackages>::PerformMsiOperation) exiting function/method [6/11/2010, 22:35:51] (HotIron::MspInstallerT<class HotIron::ApplicablePatchPackages>::PerformMsiOperation) failed and rolled back [6/11/2010, 22:35:51] (HotIron::CBaseMspInstaller::Install) PerformMsiOperation returned 0x2 [6/11/2010, 22:35:51] (HotIron::CBaseMspInstaller::Install) exiting function/method [6/11/2010, 22:35:51] (HotIron::CBaseMspInstaller::Install) PerformMsiOperation returned 0x2 [6/11/2010, 22:35:51] (HotIron::CompositeInstaller::Install) Composite Installer is reporting 0x80070002 - The system cannot find the file specified. [6/11/2010, 22:35:51] (HotIron::CompositeInstaller::Install) exiting function/method [6/11/2010, 22:35:51] (HotIron::CompositeInstaller::Install) The system cannot find the file specified. I also expanded the log file to verbose, but there is no extra information. I recently installed .NET 3.5SP1 full package. Any ideas? Thanks in advance Edit: I tried to incorporate it into the Silent .NET Maker and got this error: I am using XP Pro x86 SP3 and .NET 3.5 SP1; the download is from here http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en ; I got the x86 version.
  8. So, you're having the same problem as I did, mentioned in post #839
  9. Western Digital for the desktop, Hitachi Traveler for the notebook.
  10. Let's make it clear; you would like to use RunOnce to install applications to locations other than Program Files? This is an endless fountain of knowledge http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Search/en-us?query=runonce
  11. The disc is probably damaged or something wrong with the optical lens of the CD ROM. Try wiping the CD with a smooth cloth, disable antivirus... that's what I usually do. If it doesn't work, you may have to resort to some software for extracting data from damaged media. Cheers
  12. You guys won't believe this: I actually had to disable Antivir 10 Free yesterday, because during my test of creating an add-on with the latest .NET 2.0SP2 it reported this: so I had to redo it. Edit: it just occurred to me that it may have something to do with the UPX compression that SNM uses.
  13. 980773 and 976765 are actually found as .msp files inside KB982167
  14. KB982167 and KB979909 compiled fine, got no errors, but still have to check them in a VM. KB974417 also compiled fine when it was released, but I had trouble with it until strel created a fix within SNM.
  15. How about NDP20SP2-KB979909-x86.exe? Does it work with SNM?
  16. Actually, it does. If you have XPSP2 or more, you have 10 open connections (this change was introduced in SP2). Unless you have made changes in the TCP/IP connections, that's the number. Edit: if all you need is a tool to check (as GrofLuigi recommended), why didn't you say so? Here's one I've tried out of curiosity (I usually use the built-in one in nLite) http://deepxw.blogspot.com/2009/01/download-latest-version.html
  17. I've never come across any .reg tweaks around the forum, but why not do an unattended install with the Office 2003 Resource Kit (ORK)? You probably know it's easy to do, has many advantages, has been discussed plenty of times, it can be run from RunOnce(Ex) and there are absolutely no errors. ORK download here http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/e/d/0eda9ae6-f5c9-44be-98c7-ccc3016a296a/ork.exe Cheers
  18. Well, could you tell us some more on the procedure you are using to install silently? Are you using a batch file? Which is the command? I'm asking this because, honestly, it's never happened to me that provided manufacturer switches (especially from MS) failed. Cheers
  19. Please use search and you will see that many people are discussing this topic. Here's an example
  20. Here's an idea: Download Unlocker (http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/) and redo the procedure; if the same error reoccurs, open the folder, right-click usbport.sys and select Unlocker. That way you'll know which process is actually using the system file (which really shouldn't happen, unless it's the weird explorer.exe)
  21. Hey, I took a look at your website and downloaded the fake blue screen of death (I'm pretty sure I'll get a few kicks out of people touching my PC ). Question: you name .NET Framework v.3.5 as a requirement, and yet it works on my PC with v.2.0 SP2. Is it some sort of mistake? As to the add-ons, you're very welcome to do so
  22. the registry values can be found on this page http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1174/remove-menu-items-under-right-click-or-context-menu/ What you should do after is beyond my knowledge. Good luck
  23. I was going to post this link , but I kind of got confused by this Does it mean it won't install on WinME OR you can't install WinME with PLoP installed?
  24. Updated to latest version 31/05/2010 Rev.3466 by clsid
