  1. Could it be that your mobo is not accepting AGP8x? Some times when your mobo is AGP4x you need to set it back to AGP2x to let AGP8x cards work. Also, are you sure that the voltage is supported well by your VGA card / mobo? AGP 8x uses half the voltage of a AGP4x card (the old ones, talking about nVidia GF2 for example). Can you play games with it?
  2. Did it work? I just got lost in all your posts .
  3. I wish you good luck to find one, I think you will not find one easy. Try to look for a used one or flash the BIOS of that motherboard you have now .
  4. The CPU core is diferent, this is a Coper Mine version. The voltages are diferent and your cashe is on-die. Update your BIOS, that could help. Is it booting?
  5. Good to know some thing about the medium too; what discs are used? Tried other ones too (4x) ? XtremeMaC,Feb 28 2005, 04:48 AM ...why am i struggling anyways, SIRCOOKS haven't replied yet, ow well good bye thread... LOL, He just posted a few hours ago. When I write this, less then a day ago .
  6. Just use a small peace of normal tape, or the more paper like tape (can’t come up with the name... most people use it when they paint some thing to make a line between 2 paint colours (**** I need coffee ). You don’t need frag tape (that’s how it’s called) to attach that sensor .
  7. It could be, or you will get other problems. Remember that BlueTooth will work fine within 3m range.
  8. 30% Increase in speed? With read / writes of small blocks yes, but in general you will not even notice it I think. Most of the large caches are just hypes .
  9. Then your safe. I use Photoshop with large 1GB images for profesional printing, even 2GB of RAM isn´t enough then .
  10. I like to add to that: Most mobos have 2 or 4 .
  11. Good enough, a new 80GB and bigger drive will give some extra boost, lets say 30% or more when it´s a RAM intensive program. Do you use Photoshop with large files? Like letter size photos on 200dpi?
  12. It just can cashe more small files, but it isn´t faster then a 10k drive (looking at access times and so). Where is your info comming from?
  13. Just post things when you are sure about it , or say that you "think" that it is like that or say that you are not sure about it. You learned a lot in just a few time, i can see that
  14. Dreamweaver, photoshop... Then buy an extra 256MB. How about your Harddisk Drive? how fast is that one?
  15. No, but I think your BIOS needs to support the new CPU.
  16. Look in the other treath, the 600e question .
  17. And that´s a 600e?
  18. Socket 370?; the e says what core it is . (100MHz FSB) I used these CPUs to overclock to 1132MHz (socket 370) on a CUBX ASUS motherboard with a Thermaltake Super Orb (upper fan removed). Some chip info: - Chip manufactured with 0.18 micron technology; - 106 sq. mm Coppermine (CuMine) core with 28mln transistors; - Slot-1 and Socket-370 versions available; - 32KB L1 cache (16KB for data and 16KB for instructions); - 256KB L2 cache situated inside the processor core and working at full processor frequency; - Slot-1 version is provided with SECC2 processor cartridge, Socket-370 - with - FC-PGA (Flip-Chip PGA) form-factor; - SSE SIMD-instructions; - Power voltage: 1.6V; - Supported frequencies: for Slot 1 version - 533 (133MHz system bus), 600 (100 and 133MHz system bus), 650(100MHz system bus), 667 (133MHz system bus), 700 (100MHz system bus), 733MHz (133MHz system bus); forSocket370 version - 500 and 550MHz (100MHz system bus).
  19. Why do you ask this in a new treat? Okay, you are upgrading from a PII 450MHz to a PIII 650MHz. Both are 100MHz FSB. Are both CPUs Slot 1? Are you using the same mobo?
  20. Then there is no THEME service, that’s good (my XP also looks like 2000 ). Disable INDEX service, that would give you an extra boost... Did you ever look at nLite?
  21. Actually that sit4e will give him alot fo false information. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Like what false information ? Most of the information there helped a lot of people. So can you give me a better site besides the Microsoft page (Most people will get lost )?
  22. It’s created automatically when you set your swap file, page file, virtual memories or what ever you like to call it. - Right click on "My Computer" and select properties - Go to advanced tab - Performance - button: settings - Then you get a window with Performance Settings, go to Advanced - Down that tab you will see Virtual Memory with a button: change There you can change your setting .
  23. It can’t go wrong, only the connector for some floppy drives can fit both positions when you puss hard, other then that, it should be self leading . What OS are you going to run? If you have a XP license I would use XP, (although I would use 256MB minimal, 192MB will also run but you have to free up some resources like disabling THEMES and INDEX services).
  24. I was just wondering that. It will be easy to upgrade from a PII to a PIII, they are similar and don’t require special things like different power supply, extra ventilation. It will be like rebuilding your PII system again. You will find a few new connectors on that new power supply, just don’t use them, they are for P4 and newer AMD systems . You will have enough power for your PIII and 4 hard drives by way of speaking, famer past you a nice link for telling witch power supply will suit your needs. Also he knows how to build computers, like I do, buy a case without a power supply and by a separate power supply that suits. Only problem is that it will be way more then 30 US$ .
  25. "Motherboard Compatibility: ATX Form Factor 12" x 10.5" or smaller" It will fit . Hmm, this is your first time that you build your own computer?
