Depents where you like to use your laptop for, a little bit more input would be welcome .

How is the multi-card reader connected? First you say your USB devices don´t work, later you say your USB-Mem. stick works? Can you be a bit clearer please .
-
Press any key, What´s the deal here? Yes it´s a computer, yes you can write your own OS for it, yes it´s better then your computer at home b/c it has better specs, and NO, even the XBox360 doesn´t have HD-TV support (100%) but I´m sure you can do more with a normal computer a.k. 2006. So, start to rebuild the XBox to the computer you like and tell us about it please .
-
Yeah, you are right, it´s the ATI 420 chip . I think I was sleeping
-
The X800pro is basicly the PCI-E version of the 9800pro (as far as I know), wich gives almost the same performance as a nVidia 6800.

Did you know it´s a 5volt design and just working on 3.3volt? Well, let me tell you something, I changed these babys in about 300-360MHz CPUs while they were 180MHz marked. Just change the voltage regulators, cristals and better cooling and there you go . Sure they get hot, but you could also set them on 4volt or so . P.S. Some motherboards have setting for 83MHz FSB, I don´t know about the compaq ones. I got them up to 100 / 120 but lik ealways the RAM has to hold it. I don´t know what brand I used, but it was non-ECC. It hard when you use Lightwave 3D and computers arn´t fast enough, Edit: Check out this. I used the ASUS motherboard and as I remember it had SDRAM PC66.

Ripken204, are you sleeping ; It´s the game Far Cry and he uses an ATI x800pro with 256MB RAM. deathwarder, I think It´s a texture problem you have there, try to set your aperture-size in your BIOS higher (klick on this link to see more information). Does your harddrive work a lot when you are in-game?
-
Just put it on a higher res.? Or what is the problem? Can you tell us a bit more please
-
LLXX, try to explain that to Press any key . Press any key, You are mixing up things, try to stay in this world altrough I know it´s hard. I wonder if I still keep up to date when I have your age . Keep it cool and don´t play to much with the crocs B), better to join us at a deathmatch of Half Life 2.

The next generation ATI chips will be indeed the same, although I don’t think they will use 10MB of integrated memory for the PC version. 10MB of L2 cache is big and pretty expensive, you know that the latest Intel CPUs have 4MB and they cost a lot more then the 2MB version. Also, the XBox 360 has only 512MB of RAM so why would they use that 10MB as a L2 cache? I’m almost sure it’s a buffer of 10MB, working for example on double the speed as the normal RAM, let’s say 1400MHz. But to tell you the truth, I still didn’t look at the specs that much and how the XBox 360 is build; why not? B/c I can´t change parts of the Xbox and with the PC I can, making the PC more interesting . Edit; some changes in spelling

Press any key, You are stating to mix up things, c´mon, listen: The Xbox 360 is just a gamecomputer dude, not a supercomputer. Hardware is almost the same as a normal computer only they trow in the newest stuff like DDR3 and a good GPU. The CPU isn´t that good and as far as I know it´s a RISC based CPU made for only calculacions and not a instructions processor like we have in our computers (altrough the are mixed now, some RISC processor parts are now included). The GPU has 10MB buffer-RAM and usses the internal 512MB DDR3 700MHz RAM for it´s graphics. So, do you realy think that graphics will be the same on the XBOX360 as on a PC? Right, most of us have 256MB Video cards and 1GB of normal RAM (lets say 128MB less for WindowsXP). “21.6 GB/s front-side bus Not 400 or 800 FSB - but 21 Gigabytes.” Listen, 21.6GB/s is throughput, no speed in MHz. DDR2-667 PC2-5300, 333 MHz, 5.3 GB/s in single mode, 10.6 GB/s double mode DDR2-800 PC2-6400, 400 MHz, 6.4 GB/s in single mode, 12.8 GB/s double mode Still is has 2 times the throughput as DDR2 I know, but DDR2-1066 is also out Other hardware isn’t special at all in the Xbox 360, believe me .

Both are correct, but not all people know where the word computer is coming from or know the meaning of compute; this is why I posted compute . If you can add 1 and 1 and you give the answer 2 (or 3, if you know what I mean), then you are computing
-
I agree with the guys here (but who am I ); The error most of the times occur when a driver can’t be executed or faulty hardware detection. Yeah, set everything back to original speeds first and post your finding here please .

I needed to post this , just check the link

It’s the "Law" of Microsoft . If you buy a new motherboard then you have to buy a new license b/c the other one is for your old motherboard. Or you have to call them for the new activation code and tell them that your other motherboard died. I know what you think , but that’s how they do it to make money
-
Your welcome, MSFN friends will help you always out.
-
Yes, 68.7MB/s is good, don’t worry to much about the burst speed, SATA is just an interface, it has nothing to do with faster hard drives or so (not for now and the next year ). Marketing is the problem here and you stunk in it as well , although the NCQ and thin cables are a big plus in my eyes.
-
128MB/s burst is okay for that drive, did you expect more?; Other brands can’t get much higher neither. What is more important is your average read/write speed, although you can only test the drive with read-speed with the nVidia tool. 60MB/s would be nice for that drive
-
- How do you know it runs on 133 and not on 150? - Did you make a BIOS update? - Model number would be welcome (e.g. 7200.x ) - Motherboard brand and type Give us some more info please
-
Wait, you are telling us that you didn´t reinstall the system? (And also didn´t buy a new Windows XP ?)
-
Check your RAM with MEMtest, free for download on the net. I could be not compatible with your new setup or just a defect RAM. EDIT: But still, I don´t get the USB problem
-
In device manager you can change virtually the IRQs that are assigned virtually by XP to the devices. But, it’s better if you change the interrupt by throwing the card in another PCI slot that is not connected to your USB interrupt. (Why change it with software (virtually) when you can fix it at hardware level )
-
Well, then go back with your motherboard, it must be that, and if you bought you VGA card too there let then test it also directly. When RAM works on your old motherboard, which will not give you any guarantee that it will work on your new one. Any way, it’s nothing you can fix now, just bring the stuff back. p.s. Resetting the BIOS, flashing doesn’t help?
-
Sounds like an IRQ problem, try the soundcard in an other PCI sloth
-
Okay, sound like: - Your RAM or video card isn’t 100%. Those beeps properly indicate bad RAM (or video RAM). Test your RAM with MEMtest (free for download on the net), the PCI-E VGA card you have to test in an other system (best with a nVidia nForce4 chipset) -Your frond USB connector isn’t working well b/c of bad connectors or connections inside, check the wirering please. - Are you using Maxtor drives? Then there you have your problem, the Maxtor SATA interface isn’t compatible with the nForce 4 chipset. I hope you have some help with this
