If C'n'Q is working you will be able to set the CPU voltage settings; can you do that? If you can´t set the voltage then your CPU is not C'n'Q compatible. Let me download and update the BIOS now, give me a hour ... Edit: looks like a better BIOS then 1.6, before I got it to 250MHz FSB, now to 266MHz. I use 2800+ CPUs @ 2127MHz and RAM on 425MHz (DDR, cas. 2.5, "brand" A-DATA). Question: What kind of DIMM do you use? What do you run on that computer? Any games?
-
C'n'Q information. Auto settings are just fine, let me download 1.70 and see what it does better then 1.60. I will tell you tomorrow .

As far as I can see we almost agree witch each other, except just for just one point. Let’s blame it on my poor English . A January release, nice, thanks for the tip .

Ah, you guys were talking about more open cases, like no case . Nice cases B).

To slow doesn’t mean that it doesn’t work . Like I told you; We are both wrong and right, it’s just from what point of view you look at it. Marketing is also an issue, if you could upgrade the drivers and it would support more, less people would buy new hardware . So, DirectX 10 hardware will be out soon, all those x1900 and 7900 just support 9.0c (dec. rel.) so you need to emulate or workaround to get those DX 10 features, making indeed the computer to slow just to run a d*mn OS . but, like XP, there are settings to disable those DX10 features, if you can enable it at all... let’s wait and see...

Always cool to tweak the sh*t out of cheap as* hardware, volt-mods are cool too with a better cooler or a fan mounted to the heat sink .
-
CPU-Z just shows double the voltage, that’s all . Your RAM is the problem you can’t OC it more. There are BIOS-mods for this motherboard that gives you 2 fields of MEM settings more (timings) based on the 1.6 version of the BIOS. I never tried that motherboard with a 3400+ but if it supports C´n´Q then you should be able to set voltage setting to 1.6v then you could hit the 2700-2800MHz or even higher.

I think that dirtwarrior is talking about a case like this. Good but expensive. There are cheaper cases with that in the market, like 70 US$ and up... We love newegg.com b/c of the pictures

If you monitor your temperatures with the onboard censors, it will give you an indication of the temperatures, most of the time there is a tolerance of 10% or even more. Take 10 motherboards with the same cooler, same CPU and past and you already see differences even if it’s the same brand, type and BIOS of the motherboards. People are too worried about temps all the time, believe me, there is nothing to worry about, if it works under heavy loads then its okay.

Call to Indians::Cheap Computer Configuration

I would go for this: ASRock K8NF4G-SATA2, AMD Sempron64 2500/2600+ altrough 2800+ is what I use, A-DATA, Trancent or other 512MB RAM PC3200 2.5CAS RAM, forget the 40GB drives, the price of 80 are almost the same, take good ones like Seagate, Simple keyboard from Genius or other low cost brand Optical mouse always Don´t forget to get good PSUs or voltage regulators, TFT screens would be nice too if the budget let´s it, CRT I would go for Samsung. I hope this helps -
Aren’t they used by Thermaltake?

Try to clean the lens, other then that; just a "less good" copy . -
$0 budget, nice... You can try to run your fans on 7volts. If the system doesn’t crash under heavy loads you’ll be safe, don’t pay to much attention to temps, they are just an indication except if you use a laser temperature measurement device like the pros do .
-
If cash is not the deal then Dual-Core AMD Opteron™, but eeuhmm, performance / price the Sempron64 is the best
-
Suite your self, let´s say we both are wrong and rigth and call it a draw , not everything can be emulated that´s true, but most of it can... just think about it, ask ATI or nVidia engineers directly if you have the change.
-
The 2800+ Sempron64 has no Cool ´n´ Quiet so your motherboards will not allow you to change the voltage settings. You can volt-mod the motherboard trough ...

@ nmX.Memnoch "And also, if the hardware doesn't support DX10 features no amount of driver magic is going to add that. So yes, it is all hardware. The drivers are just the operating systems interface to the hardware." You are wrong on that, drivers can simulate features that isn’t supported by the hardware it self. Look at the DirectX 8.1 cards that run DirectX 9.0 games for example .
-
Then I need just a 40GB drive LOL. Just...., I know you hate bloated software. And yes, that AMD contra iNTEL, nVidia contra ATi makes me sick too. You get what you pay for, plain and simple in the computer marked when it comes to hardware. ALL players know what to ask for there products...

DirectX 10 support with drivers/software not only hardware (I read it like you say it´s only hardware ), if you think about it; You need a 400 US$ and up video card to run Vista, who the F*CK would use Vista, only the people who spend to much money, use it professional or play games like a hardcore gamer (don’t forget the show-offs). M$ does crazy stuff, but they still thin commercial.
-
Hardcore or not, but you need a card that handles SM 2.0 and better
-
Looks more a software problem. Try to set "UPS service" to auto, normaly it´s set to manual. Let us know if it helps .

I saw paste dripping of CPUs . Tweaked s*** to much to see how far it could go but that was a few years ago, when I was still manager of a RMA department . I had to test new stuff, burning or not. OW YEAH!
-
I have the same thing with a SB Live! 5.1 here, but I only use audio when gaming so I only know that I could hear it in games. I’m using a nForce 3 250 chipset. The squeak-sound isn’t that hard dough.

What kind of souncard / chip do you use now?

Post Pictures and Specifications of your computer here!

Yes, buy one of those and throw your money away on something you will never use . IBM introduced those CPUs on the Cbit I think. Are you going to write your own OS like for the XBox360 again? It will NOT run windows like you use it on your small rig.
