  1. Hiya All, Would it be possible to use/adapt this package for Win95 OSR2.5B with the usb support add-on? I'm rolling out a bunch of legacy PCs and this would be really useful. Thanks for your time.
  2. Hiya, The easiest way to do this IMHO is with a javascript document.write in an external ".js" file. A ".js" file is called by a "<script src=yourscript.js>" and closed with "</script>" just like a normal script. The .js file itself is plain text and can be used to simply output text (or html) to be written dynamically to a page when used with the javascript document.write function. You can find this script easily anywhere on the web. A simple .js file to write some plain text to a page: <!-- document.write(" Put your text, form, html-markup for image, links, etc. in here, but no matched parentheses! We do NOT want to close our script early... ") //--> PLEASE don't use flash unneccessarily, some (the majority, possibly) of users are still on dialup...
  3. Forgive if this has been asked before, but is there a guide to manual installation, or do each of this set of files (USP5, DX, IC, DA) support integration with nLite? Thanks again!
  4. Bravo, Sir!
  5. No, your HDD won't lost RPM's. However, (as I understand it), an ATA33 slaved to an ATA133 device will limit both devices to ATA33's throughput rate.
  6. Bigger modules=less stress on CPU/memory controller but much, much more expensive generally
  7. Run, Escape! I lost interest after the move to "3d," it lost much of its charm IMHO...can still play as "free" version (remember when...it was the ONLY version?), but hasn't been updated in, well, forever?
  8. A member of these forums has made this possible: see "Mindows Project". All that's needed is to copy your files into place--no PID required...easily installed unattended via batch.
  9. I've tried this, it added 100+MB to my CD but didn't offer any speed improvement on install. I thought it'd speed up install on old pc's, rather it slowed them down! On my P200MX laptop (ata33@3600rpm hdd, 10Xcdrom): compressed: ~45min install (~10min to copy files) expanded: ~1HR install (~25min to copy files) Perhaps on faster hardware, the results would have been different...but on my p4-2.4c (sata-hdd, 52Xcdrom) a complete install occurs in ~20 mins, so why bother?
  10. Alcohol120 does this also, without kludges...all that is needed is to associate it with the desired files. It can also be used to rip, burn, etc. Comparing Alcohol120 to D-Tools is comparing apples to oranges.
  11. Hiya, Looks great! Have jcarle's compressionbin installed anyway, so modifype's not a problem...will be trying it out today. Thanks!
  12. Hiya, My 2¢: Having tried both (plus QEMU, although I never got it to work), I've got to say VMWARE is far faster, more user friendly, and more stable than M$'s VirtualPC. It's more expensive, but well worth it. Good Luck!
  13. Hiya, I always use a static pagefile, I've got a gig of memory and rarely need much more...anyway, here's the regfile I apply from CMDLINES.TXT at T-12: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;set pagefile to 256MB [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management] "PagingFiles"=hex(7):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,70,00,61,00,67,00,65,00,66,00,69,00,6c,\ 00,65,00,2e,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,20,00,32,00,35,00,36,00,20,00,32,00,35,00,\ 36,00,00,00,00,00
  14. Ummm...you may not be aware that some of us use Win2k here...=)
  15. Seems it's easier to remove than to fix;)
  16. I've got an nLite'ned XPSP2--fully stripped, of course--running on a P166 + 32MB of EDO SRAM (Trident 1MB ISA videocard w/vgasave driver, LOL), but it's not terribly speedy--> My kids use it for games and MS Paint, and it works well enough. I don't know how a machine with these specs would fare on a network, but I'd bet you could run a Linux commandline, DOS, or Win9x pretty well.
  17. Hiya, You've disabled DCOM, set it to "auto" (or start it manually before each defrag). Good Luck!
  18. Hiya All, I've checked out some of these apps, looking for a taskman replacement: Coral's and (now defunct)Niresoft's are both unacceptable; Coral's is apparently unfinished, and Niresoft's causes system slowdown and instability! Process explorer is OK but doesn't show mem. usage + other details NT users are used to seeing...it seems either process explorer or the default taskman are the only acceptable "free" options..IMHO.
  19. Hiya All, Finally received my shipment, I'm impressed... Ordered April 9, arrived June 20. It's supported ~all my hardware, 10+ different setups (even legacy hardware!), right out of the box.
  20. Hiya Asta, Thank you for your hard work! However, your link is down...
  21. Hiya kelsenellenelvian, Thanks for all your work --installers, cpls, WPI-- you're obviously very busy... Your files have been deleted from rapidshare, could you please upload them again (or possibly host elsewhere, whatever works for you)? Thanks again!
  22. Hiya again, Seems Ubuntu is having a problem sending out CDs? It's been 2 months since I placed my order and still nothing... Anyone received their CDs yet?
  23. Hiya, (Sorry I can't help, but...) I'm also interested in this registry entry, but for a different reason: I'm running an nLited XP install on a Toshiba Satellite Pro 470CDT (Pentium-200MMX laptop with C&T65555 2MB video chip), I've located and installed an XP video driver (www.asiliant.com took over Intel's old "Chips & Technologies" graphics division) but it'll only work with hardware acceleration OFF. Currently I've got to reboot in safe mode after install and turn acceleration off manually, else the display is garbled and unusable.
  24. First DVDShrink, now DVD Decrypter...<:"( The good die young.
