Tried WMP10? M$ finally built in the option to rip to MP3 (without making you pay $20 for an "addon").

Yes, win95/98/98se are built on MSDOS 7.0(1996)/7.1(1997) and are essentially MSDOS with 32-bit extensions (32-bit support was also added Windows 3.1, although that didn't go far as it was introduced at the end of 3.1's life cycle.) SO, if your soundcard works both in windows and msdos-mode, you're loading msdos-mode drivers. If you're also loading emm386/smartdrv/msdos mouse drivers/etc., it appears that enabling UDMA could offer a speed improvement. From Wikipedia:

Have you tried the Unattended Codec-Pack? It has most popular codecs included in KLITE--plus Realplayer+Quicktime Alternatives.

Actually, with the new catalyst suite all you need is /K. They now install silently. /K Cheers.

I use DVD Decrypter for 1:1 copies (discs <4.38Gb) or ripping to HDD as it's sometimes faster or more convenient to shrink them from HDD later. DVD Shrink does everything else--it will rip+shrink+make iso to burn in DVDDecrypter. These are the only tools I've found necessary for DVD copies.

Geez, but that looks overly complicated. Tried the SET /P command? -

Weird problems with little bits left to do
nateklomp replied to DanFraser's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
This may or may not be helpful to you, but here goes...I've seen something like this once before, on one of my first tries at uA. I believe it may have been related to the [Components] section of my WINNT.SIF; perhaps you should check it out. -
AFAIK, Kazaa installs malware integrated with itself, while Kazaa-lite is an unsupported hack of the Kazaa client software which has the malware removed--probably why you haven't found any on your system.

Radeon 9X00 setup resolution?
nateklomp replied to beaumar's topic in Setup Billboard Screens for Windows
I've also encountered this problem with my Radeon 9700 card, before reboot it won't display greater than 640*480. I tried using 1365Vidchng.exe from MSFN's uA site...it returned an "unsupported resolution" error for 1024*768*32. That's WITH SP2 and the drivers integrated. -
I'm doing this on my ATI All-In-Wonder card, it captures and encodes MPEG-2 video. There are some (relatively) inexpensive commercial softwares to take captures to DVD...However, I was pretty much broke after buying the card. So, I went cheap: I use TMPGEnc to edit/demux the MPG, IfoEdit to create DVD file structure, ImgTool Classic to create an ISO, and finally DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter to shrink and burn. It takes my (the length of the video to capture) + about 1/2 hour to completely process and burn to DVD on my P4-2.4c, 1GB DC-DDR400, single SATA-HDD machine. The only other advice I can offer is to always defrag before capturing and/or editing DVDs. Good Luck!

It's probably going to need a script of some sort...did you already try the /HIDE switch?

Which version of Windows sucks the most?

Which version of Windows sucks the most?

Here's a vote for BOB! BTW, BOB's Project-Manager was Melinda French, who married Bill Gates just before its release. -
Hi All, Does taskkill.exe work at T-12 under cmdlines batch, or is it just me that can't get it to? If not, will SysInternals' pskill.exe work as an alternative? Thanks for your help!

Post Cleanup Automatic Defrag (Diskeeper)
nateklomp replied to Marl64's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Executive says in their doc that a full defrag should be completed BEFORE boot-time (MFT) defrag, not the other way around. -
I've been using O&O Defrag PRO 6.5 since it was released and I thought it was great except for: its usage of TCP/IP ports which messed with my firewall settings difficult to get the boot-time defrag going 9.5-to-20+MB background memory usage for "smart" defrag "Optomize" function just doesn't seem to behave intelligently very few customization options Finally, I had this problem: I had the "smart" stealth optomization defrag set--so I thought I was OK for fragmentation. Then my PC crashed 3x while trying to DVDShrink an ISO. As it turns out, the file was a bit fragmented--approx 3000 fragments actually! Then I manually defragged, turns out I had ~20 files with 5 or more fragments, the MFT was 90% of max. size and highly fragmented... This week I installed Diskeeper 9 Pro and am loving it, easy to use and much fewer system resources (haven't seen it run over ~8MB yet, O&O had min. 9.5); more config options; MFT and PAGEFILE options; and just gives more useful info. All this at the same price point? Now, I know what y'all were going to say--but I still haven't tried PerfectDisk, so I'm not yet converted;)

The Best Way to make multi RUNONCEEX.CMD

Some switches (cannot find them here) for my Apps
nateklomp replied to molski's topic in Application Installs
Dude, CloneCD is only at version 5.0.3.1 as of October 11...unless you're visiting from the future--> But here's the switch anyway: start /wait CLONECD.EXE /SAlso: start /wait ULTRAISO.EXE /VERYSILENT /SP- and, finally: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\EasyBoot Systems\UltraISO\5.0] "UserName"="" "Registration"="" worked for me with version 7.22ME released September 9 (can't verify with 7.23ME, though). Good Luck! -
FlashGET Vs Download Accelerator? w/c 1 is Best!
nateklomp replied to Astalavista's topic in Application Installs
I'm using MetaProducts Mass Downloader™ with my dialup connection. I tried LeechGet previously and although it was good (esp. the link parser), IMHO its interface was a clumsy (heavy on images), its multiple shell extensions were annoying, and it hogged memory. For a free alternative, MetaProducts Download Express™ is my pick. -

I've had the same problem, try: ;pass configuration wizard screen Sleep(2000) WinWaitActive("Configuration Wizard") WinActivate("Configuration Wizard") Send("{ENTER}") Good Luck! -
Hiya, I've also seen this method used on Win98, but Nano98 is 4.38MB!
