Today on my way to work, I had just turned a corner and was heading down a hill and about two or three seconds later (and much to my surprise) an unmarked cop car with its lights flashing started chasing me down the street. At first, I wasn't sure if it was chasing me or not, so I turned onto another street where I could safely pull over, if needed. Well, it was most definitely after me. So I pulled over, put my hazard lights on, rolled down my window, shut off the engine, and grabbed my papers. I tried my best to co-operate as much as possible and only spoke to the cop if spoken to (this was the first time I was ever pulled over). Anyways, I didn't have any problems with the cop, but to make a long story short, I realize I may have been going too fast (in what was a pretty clear lane) and am willing to take responsibility for doing so , so don't try thinking that I'm trying to get out of a $230 CAD ticket. I wasn't sure if I had to show up in court like in the States since I was driving outside of my home province (where we don't have to show up in court unless we contest a ticket), so I asked the cop and he said "no." Like I mentioned, this is my first ticket, so I'm not quite sure if I should just pay it outright (which may or may not increase my insurance premiums, which are already insane as they stand) or try to contest it in court (though, I'm not quite sure what my argument would be). I've had my license for a little under four years now, if it matters. Any suggestions for a n00b?

Please re-read nLite's license - it cannot be used for anything else but personal use as the other posters have already mentioned.[ Closed. ]

Why would you want nLite to add these files? Are you trying to make a non-OEM disc into one that acts like the Dell OEM disc?

You're probably referring to/better off running Ubuntu inside a virtual machine, like VMware, in your case.

Question: Installing Office 2007 on Multiple Computers

Good to know, and I hadn't realized that the Ultimate Steal deal was still going on... I thought it expired last year, but I guess they brought it back. -

If you are a student, then I believe you can only install that copy of Office on a single computer (since it is an academic copy). However, if you had Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007... Source: Microsoft Office Online -
Yet another question that could have been answered by using the search function. Here is the answer to your question.

True. This works just as well too.

Frustration at standard of programming at work
gamehead200 replied to iceangel89's topic in General Discussion
i guess maybe setting up and administering servers? i think thats abit like what MSFN is for, in my opinion. setting up and administering servers wont change much even when the internal hardware changes. eg. intel processors change alot but to system builders and admins they are still the same ... so that kind of job wont need too much upgrading ... but i think not for me. No, like actually developing the hardware. I'm in computer engineering, so I could go either way, really (i.e., hardware or software). -
ZOMG!!! Source: xkcd You just won't give up, will you?

Frustration at standard of programming at work
gamehead200 replied to iceangel89's topic in General Discussion
Something hardware-based most probably (or at least I'm hoping). -
Yes. There's a chance they may send you the CD/DVD free of charge or just make you pay for shipping.

First off, I'd like to first point out that whether or not you have a valid license key, the act of downloading a copy of Vista from the Internet is still considered illegal in most countries as the software itself is copyrighted and you would be obtaining it through illegal means and be making an unauthorized copy. The key you have would only most likely work with an OEM copy of Vista supplied by your laptop's manufacturer, in which case you would have to contact them to get a copy of the CD/DVD. If they refuse and you decide to go out and buy a retail copy, you may need to obtain drivers for your laptop, which in some cases, can be quite a pain.

Unattended Secret: Set Variable From File

I highly doubt you'll get a response. gosh hasn't been that active on the forums lately. That and the fact that this post was made in 2003... -
Frustration at standard of programming at work

Hmmm... Exactly what I was thinking. Ever since I started this new job (since the beginning of May), there have been quite a few dull moments. But, because it's kind of like an internship (i.e., it counts for credits), I have to stick with it until the end of August. -
Where did you download XP from? MSDN? TechNet?

I was almost tempted to ask you to use the search function because this has been brought up so many times. Honestly though, that search term isn't very specific and of course it will bring up hundreds upon thousands of results (nLite's pretty popular). I suggest you take a look at the Advanced Usage Help when searching - it'll tell you how to properly search for something. Oh, and yeah... [ Moved. ]

Frustration at standard of programming at work

Lucky you! I had on average 2-3 hrs of work a day in my last position, but policy dictated that it was a fireable offense to go onto the Internet. Let's just say I don't care too much to be bored to tears like that ever again. Browsing MSFN can easily be considered to be "for business purposes." -
*facepalm*

From what I understand, you're trying to get another sound card working in a machine that already has integrated on-board audio. What you'll have to do (and what I suggest doing) is disable the on-board audio in your BIOS, disable the on-board audio in your device manager (if it still appears in the list), then physically install whatever sound card you want into a free PCI slot, and finally, install whatever drivers XP may ask for. I highly doubt having a stronger power supply would fix the problem (or for that matter, have anything to do with your initial problem).Let us know how it works out!

Hello everyone, I'm gamehead200! I've been a member here for roughly seven years now. I'm a 2nd-year undergraduate student majoring in Computer Engineering, currently working for an insurance company up in Canada as a software developer/technical analyst, eh? I just figured I might as well reintroduce myself since there have been oh-so many new member registrations since I initially registered. Oh, and I'm a guy! Cheers, </boredom>

No one is going to be able to help you if you don't at least give a general idea of what you want to do.

Would you care to explain how it was resolved?
