  1. Installing ATI Catalyst 8.12 driver: I tried extracting the DLed file with 7-Zip and quickly got an error that a file already existed, so I abandoned this and did an install on my VM machine, and then copied the file extracted to my host. It is about 67 MB. I then built my ISO and installed it on VMware Server. When the install was complete, I looked in the NLDRV folder, and folder 005 contained the ATI driver but it was only 28.6 MB. I found no CCC folder there. I suspect the best way to install these is after install and wonder what kind of responses they would come up with for the questions asked during install of the file. Any comments? Thanks, John.
  2. opopanax666, I suspect your problem is that the user account is not created yet. It does not get fully created until after the last reboot. I use WPI to accomplish lots of things including installing programs, changing Registry entries and I think it can be used to do what you want and is easy to used. Please see the WPI forum a couple below this one. Enjoy, John.
  3. freshhh, I never get any of these messages, so no need to answer 'yes' always. All your listed hot fixes except 480 are no longer in Kurt_Aust's list. Please see the first page for an accurate list of the updates. Enjoy, John.
  4. Lorinette, I will try to give you my opinion on your questions. I don't know the answers and possibly you can share your experience with us. I suggest your try several combinations and I hope you are testing under a virtual system (VirtualPC, VirtualBox, VMware Server - all free). Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini so we can see what you are doing. Some notes: Your English is fine and all but nuhi are users here as yourself. I opened nLite and went to the Unattended-Users tab and tried to delete the Guest and the Administrator accounts - not possible. I was able to rename both accounts. What effect this will have on the Logon screen, I do not know. Please let us know. Don't know. I suspect whatever you name it the Administrator account will remain the same attributes. Any new account you create with administrator privileges will have the same authority as Administrator and will show up on the Logon screen. I create only one account for me, and give it administrator privileges. I guess this is the way MS decided to do it. I am sure nLite has not changed this. I suspect this is so you will have at least one account on the Logon screen, since Administrator is hidden and Guest is inactive by default. Your second 4. This is of course your choice knowing the people and what kind of privileges you want to give them. If it were me, I would leave the Administrator account alone, give myself administrator rights and the others limited accounts unless I felt they were experienced enough to install programs, etc. I don't have any documentation but there is a guide and FAQs on the nLite web site and these forums are a great source of information. Hope this helps, John.
  5. Lorinette, I hope some one else will respond because I have not used user groups and know nothing about them. Good luck, John.
  6. OK, thanks Kurt_Aust, John.
  7. Kurt_Aust, is there any reason that .Net Framework and it's updates cannot be integrated with nLite. This might be faster and make the ISO smaller. Thanks, John.
  8. DennyMK, thanks for your reply. I think TuneUp did modify NTOSKRNL.exe, because it was about 15 kB larger than the original. Have you looked at your TUKernel.exe with a resource editor and if so, could you see that the bit maps images were altered? You might also look at your NTOSKRNL.exe before and after running TuneUp. Thanks again, John.
  9. aubsmm, sorry, I misread your post. I can only suggest at this time is to try without skipping OOBE. Good luck, John.

    Bugs

daredevil1, if you still have a problem, please say so, if not, please change the title to say so (edit first post). Thanks, John.
  11. mritter, I'm for deleting the keys as you have implemented. I have had problems on both ends of the process (configuring and installing). Since I have multiple working nLite folders containing WPI, when I start WPI from one folder, I want it to use the files in that folder not the last I one I used. I think the new way will correct the problems I have seen - such as updates going into the wrong copy of WPI and doing an install missing all the changes I had made. Thanks much, John.
  12. Thanks, justibus, I wrote a small batch file of bootcfg commands, ran it out of WPI and it works fine. Thanks, John.
  13. CyberPro CW, please post a screen shot of a Windows Explorer view of your folder. I am really curious about your downloading a copy of XP MCE SP3. Do you mean the whole operating system? If so, it cannot be a legal copy since MS does not give their software away. Do you mean just the service pack SP3? If so, post the full name so we can look at it. Enjoy, John.
  14. The guys who are wondering about clock.avi not copying, see nLite Components-Advanced (at the bottom). The following files are set to be removed. Enjoy, John. clock.avi yahoo.bmp swtchbrd.bmp
  15. plazmakat, I see nothing in your Last Session.ini that looks suspicious to me but I know nothing about the update packs and AddOns. Did you run nLite more than once against the same source? I am curious why you did not integrate SP3. BTW, Thunderbird just hit me with 2.0.0.19. Why did you disable OEM? You have UnattendMode = 1. Is this Fully Automatic? You might try Fully Automatic if 1 means Provide Defaults. Enjoy, John.
  16. plazmakat, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure you always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. My wild guess is you have violated one of these procedures. Enjoy, John.
  17. Birds, did you make the DefUser account active in the Unattended section? You can look in your Last Session_U.ini at the users section (bottom) and compare it to the Guest and Administrator accounts. Don't post it because it has private information in it. In the future, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. This will allow us to search within it. Make sure you always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session, and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.
  18. aubsmm, as I stated in my last reply, you must slipstream only ONE SP. I don't know what kind of havoc two will cause. And also like I said, you should not need to poke around in winnt.sif. OemFilesPath is not defined in my winnt.ini and I use the $OEM$ to place several files/folders in several folders - works fine. Enjoy, John.
  19. Lorinette, I think the answer is yes. I do Fully Automatic installs, am never asked about activation/registration and Windows is never activated. I do all this on VMware Server for testing. If you have further questions, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Enjoy, John.
  20. Fernando 1, thanks so much for your expert advice. Since I don't currently have hardware to install on, I have to postpone how this works for me. Thanks, John.
  21. albator, sorry, what I asked for was your Last Session.ini, not boot.ini. Thanks, John.
  22. albator, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure you always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite Session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.
  23. mritter, I'm sure it would be useful, but I have never used switches and think I am OK with what I have. Some may feel strongly that they would be useful. Enjoy, John.
  24. aubsmm, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. You should not have to modify your winnt.sif file and nLite should place it in the correct place. Make sure you always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. You should set OEM Preinstall to Enabled in the Unattended section of nLite. Enjoy, John.

    p(1) 11 error

elularson, please post your actual error message (screen shot). I assume it is coming when you are running nLite? I see your source is SP0. I strongly recommend that you slipstream SP3. Make sure you always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all you work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John. Edit: It looks like you have two sets of text mode drivers. I think this is OK as long as you realize that the last ones to be integrated will be used. John.
