  1. Yes John, that's exactly what I have. The number 2 checked is fine, but then, why isn't it respected after installation? Why this is checked on number 1 automatically?
  2. Okay John, sorry for that. I've attached it on my initial post. Thank you for your help.
  3. Hi again, I think, this would by one of my last questions about nLite. I create SP3 unattended installations, fully automated. Everything works very well. Therefore, In the nLite options, I specified my activation Key and other minor options. Then, one of the options I specified was: NOT to install automatically the windows updates (you know, the yellow warning icone near the clock) but only warn my when there are some to download and install. I prefer this system because I can write them down and include the KB patchs to my next nLite installation. The problem is, even if I checked the WARN me before download and install, after the installation is finished, when I check this into the GUi, it's selected as AUTOMATICALLY download and install without warn me. Do you know if it's a WinXP feature or an nLite bug? Thanks for your answers. [Edit] I've attached the Last_session.ini Derni_re_session.ini
  4. Excellent! Thank you very much for the link iamteky. It seems very usefull with lot of information. I have no more questions about this topic, and by the way as it was mentioned: Yes, it's possible the rename "the" Administrator account without any problems. I've tested it and didn't encountered any problems.
  5. Thanks JatinBaniwal but that's not my question. So If someone really knows what I'm talking about please give your answer.
  6. Hello, Thanks for your replies, you've written very interresting things! @John: I'm doing my tests on a real PC, an old PIII 500 mhz. In fact, iamtheky and Ponch gave the responses to my questions, so I guess I don't have to do the tests. @iamtheky and Ponch: Thank you very much for the answers! It's very clear and logical the way you explain it. I've learned something tonight and I'm going to wake up much aware about the WinXP functionment! By the way, maybe one of you guys now what's the ASP.NET account in the Group Panel? I can guess it have something to deal with the 3.5 SP1 NET Framework I've installed, but do you know how it exactly works? Does it send any information on the network? Could I delete it? An other question that is quite obscure for me is about the Users that are in the USERS group. I don't know what's the name for it in english installations, but in french, the menu I'm talking about calls "Gestion de l'ordinateur > Utilisateurs et groupes locaux". There's my question: Do you know who are the "AUTORITE NT\INTERACTIF (S-1-5-4)" and the "AUTORITE NT\Utilisateurs authentifiés (S-1-5-11)" ? How this two users create? What are they for? Can I delete them? Any documentation about this? Again, thanks for everything. I love to learn things that allows me to better manage my PC under WinXP.
  7. Hello, I continue my questions about nLite. This time, I have some questions about the configuration process step where I can choose to enter the activation KEY, skip oobe or setup users. As you know, by default, nLite is configured with two accounts: Administrator and Guest. The Administrator account is the super admin, the owner of the PC. It would be hidden on the logon screen and could be displayed and loged in by hitting the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys twice. So here come some questions about this things and about nLite: QUESTION 1: Do you think I can rename the Administrator name to set what I want like: Sysadmin? Or maybe it's better to let it as it is in the nLite menu? QUESTION 2: Is it normal that when I add two limited accounts and rename the Administrator in the full automatic mode installation process to Sysadmin, I can see the Sysadmin on the logon screen renamed? Shouldn't it be hidden as it's the super admin of the PC? AND, is it normal, that, in the same situation that when I upgrade one of the two limited accounts to an admin account, the Sysadmin (owner) account becomes hidden on the logon screen after a reboot? And than in order to show it again, I have to downgrade the admin to limited user account through the "gpedit.msc" options? QUESTION 3: And then, why is the Administrator hidden when I choose to do the installation step by step with all the confirmations and accounts to set by hand? And why not, when the installation is full automated? QUESTION 4: In the manual step by step mode installation, when I'm in the oobe process, the system asks me to enter at least one user of this computer. The first one will be an administrator, but not the super administrator which is hidden. Is this normal? QUESTION 4: Globally, what is the good way to setup accounts for three persons on the same PC in full automatic mode? Should I create 3 limited accounts by letting the hidden Administrator as it is? Or, create two limited and one normal admin account? By the way, do you have any documentation for these questions? Thanks and sorry for my english.
  8. Thank you very much for your answers! They are very clear!
  9. No problem John. Ponch, in fact, I have to manage 2 limited accounts and 1 admin account (mine) on one PC. So I think, my PC should be on a WORKGROUP and not on a DOMAIN (as a DOMAIN requires at least 1 PC in an network of computer for control the domain accesses). So my question is : is it normal, that nLite allows me to creat groups like Admins, Limited Users, Duplicators etc. and that it allows me to use WORKGROUP ? I thought that to have groups, you necessary must have a DOMAIN configuration and not a WORKGROUP. Isn't it ?
  10. Hello, Thank you very much for you answer. I have an other question. How's that possible that on an WinXP Pro system, I can't pick-up users to set the to groups through the Group pannel administration ? Isn't the group stuff for "DOMAIN" uses purpose only and not "WORKGROUP" ?
  11. Hello, I wonder about wbaht is happening to the OOBE process which asks me If i want to register my Windows now If I use the automatic mode ? Does it automaticaly say no if it's automatic ? It's the same if i were clicking on "No" ? Thanks.
  12. Hello all, I have detected a new bug or misconfiguration problem. Here's the description : I created a new bootable Windows XP SP3 CD. Worked fine, installation process and everything else was done without any problem. This bootable CD, was made with 3 accounts, 1 admin & 2 limited. After install such programms like drivers, office, msn, adobe flash player etc. under the admin session, I gave to one of the 2 limited accounts an admin account. By doing this, after rebooting, the main admin account wasn't there anymore. This happened only with the nLite version, my original XP Pro SP3 installation allows me to have as many admins as I want on my system. The nLite version, deletes, or hides would fit better, the "old" admin account. Do you have any idea about this ? Assuming that I can see my accounts in Documents and Settings etc... but not on my login screen. In fact, there's no way to login to my old admin account after I assigned an new "co-admin". Sorry for my english I'm french. Here's come the last_session.ini if you need : [Main] Env = 1.4.9.1 - 2.0.50727.42.Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Target = Windows XP Professionnel SP3 - 5.1.2600.5512 - Français (France) [Tasks] Remove Components Unattended Setup Hotfixes and Update Packs Create a Bootable ISO [Components] ;# Applications # Jeux Jeux sur Internet ;# Multimédia # Échantillons musicaux ;# Options du système d'exploitation # Visite guidée Windows ;# Compatibilité # Compat01 Compat02 Compat03 Compat04 Compat06 Compat07 Compat08 Compat09 Compat11 Compat13 Compat14 Compat15 Compat16 [KeepFiles] msconfig.exe [RemoveFiles] clock.avi yahoo.bmp swtchbrd.bmp [Options] ProfilesDir = "%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings" TargetPath = "WINDOWS" temp_dir = %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp [Patches] [Services2] [Tweaks] [Unattended] UnattendMode = 1 ComputerType = Automatique OOBEOff MaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk = 12 RestorePointLife = 30 DesktopTheme = Par défaut|| AutoUpdates = 2 AutoUDay = 5 AutoUHour = 15 ProgFilesPath = "\Program Files" [NetAdapter1] connname = "" macaddress = "" ipaddress = "192.168.0.1" subnetmask = "255.255.255.0" defaultgateway = "" dnsserver1 = "" dnsserver2 = "" winsserver = "" netbiossetting = "0" ipxnetworknumber = "00000000" ipxnetworkframetype = "0xFF" [GuiRunOnce] [Drivers] [Hotfixes] C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB941569-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB938464-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB946648-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB951698-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB950762-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\IE7-WindowsXP-KB938127-v2-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB951376-v2-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB951978-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB952954-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsMedia11-KB954154-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB950974-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB956803-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB956841-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB957095-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB955069-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB954459-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB954211-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB956391-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB954600-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB958644-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\IE7-WindowsXP-KB958215-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB956802-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-KB957097-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB952069-x86-FRA.exe C:\XP-SP3\patchs\IE7-WindowsXP-KB960714-x86-FRA.exe
