  1. I believe they can and there is a very good article in here for that. Think it was under the Applications Install thread area if you search. otherwise you can do via guirunonce or runonceex, choice is yours and they all work
  2. i agree, REMOVE you serial key. you may benefit from reading this to decide which method you wish to use to install your apps from cd http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/32/
  3. we all try, i did notice you said you had "install windows xp 2 times" so took this to mean you had formatted the hdd not just re-installed over the top of an existing installation twice, and you say you had run adaware as well, but at least you have something things to go with
  4. i use IE6SP2 with MSN 7.5 installed on XPSP2 and they work perfectly fine together. The hijack log means nothing to me, though a quick scan shows stuff that loads at startup and they look familiar and appear as such to be safe. un-installing and re-installing does not always solve an issue if the file you are using to install from is corrupt, hence the suggestion to re-download it. However if your happy that the file is perfectly good and not corrupt, i'll leave you to it
  5. re-installing is not the same as re-DOWNLOAD from M$ and then re-install your english was fine in your explaination.
  6. i would say you probably got a corrupt copy of MSN Messenger - re-download and try again. just a thought, does the inbuilt Windows Messenger wok ok? if yes just use that, unless you specifically use teh feature of MSN Messenger
  7. have about 75cd and about 245mp3, though some mp3 are from my cd collection if that helps you out
  8. i use both runonceex & guirunonce - with no issues runonceex for those application that can be installed at t13/t-12 guirunonce for those applications that won't/can't
  9. which text do you actually mean? i use these reg tweaks to modify the text where you enter your u/n & p/w, is that what you mean or the legal notice you can get to pop-up, if you do this can be done on the server as part of your GP settings. ; Customize the Windows Logon and Security Dialog Title [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "Welcome"="by <your text>" ; Change the Message Shown on the Logon Box [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "LogonPrompt"=",your text>"
  10. i use this and works for me [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "ScreenSaveActive"="0"
  11. if your on about changing it to clissic view, so you see allin the control panel, then, yes, it is storedin the registry under this key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "ForceClassicControlPanel"=dword:00000001 and i found it doing a regshot
  12. sounds to me like your PC isn't set to boot from cd, or is but will after c: which is obviously to laote, so, check you boot order in the BIOS
  13. i always thought that xp default regional setting was English (US) with date format as you state as that is way the US display the date. install it clean manually and then you'll see
  14. in that case is your winnt.sif file correct? does it have the switch oempreinstall=yes in it? under the [unattended] section a quick look here may also assist you: http://unattended.msfn.org
  15. or you could install xpsp2 ONLY with NO hotfixes installed then run windowsupdate which will show you what is needed and then repeat until none needed and bingo one list generated and then you can download and install how you wish
  16. ok, there is no need to use such large font formatting, it really hurt my eyes and i nearly gave up. to answer, you need to use winpe or bartpe to do this as you can't as part of an install. also, searching is really useful as it would have shown this topic to be discuussed many many times before, oh and welcome
  17. Reading the article it says to contact MS: A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix. To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support (http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support) Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the specific update in question. unless somebody else is willing to pass it on
  18. reading your sig, you have 4x120GB drives which is roughly 480GB. are you using all that up? or do you have just enough space to fit what you have on the 300GB? to do as suggested by LLXX
  19. nice article, but how does one actually use that if the wpa.dbl method no longer works, or do i mis-understand this thread, which is highly likely. oioldman
  20. most have a wake up on modem or equivalent feature in BIOS. I know MODEM is one so can receive faxes, so maybe a call to the house will be enough to wake it up.
  21. no because runonceex runs AFTER windows has been installed and when the fist user, normally administrator, has logged in. i reckon you need a win98se boot disk with a batch file that runs diskpart to create partitions and then runs the winnt.exe /switchesneeded command at which point you insert cd and watch it go no typing of commands but possible solution
  22. funny that because saving the file never crossed my mind and i wondered why any work i ever did was never seen again. Any body actually able to help, though sarcastic comments are also welcome. looking at the file i notice that there are TWO (2) folders that contain text string details - which ones are the ones that actually appear to be used
  23. within the power settings if you set so that machine can go into standby mode, i think you'll get that button as well
  24. can't believe i just and watched for nearly 5mins, unbelievable stuff and must have taken a age to do
