Getting rid of the Windows Welome screen
oioldman replied to stroeks's topic in Unattended RIS Installation
you need to add oemskipwelcome=1 to your .sif file in the guiunattended section if i recall. have a look here http://unattended.msfn.org or just read your ref.chm file from within the supporttools cab -

office 2003 sp2 and hotfixes slipstreaming
oioldman replied to piknew's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
this has been mentioned before, and doing a search should find the answer that, "this is standard and expected behaviour." if you just install them and then do office update, they do not show -
nice website that Grunth0s, thanks

i had this issue, and so then i applied the SR1 and then sr2 then sr3 and post sr3 updates and it went ok. for some reason even though you have sr1 you need to apply it before being able to apply sr2 and onwards. I have no idea why that is the case, but that is what i learnt. I also discovered that for some reason it will install office instead of applying sr3 to the admin image.

i'd guess that it might not have installed correctly and/or a .dll hasn't registered properly. try a re-install over the top and see how that goes. I vaguely also remember that certain MS products are hard coded to only work from C:\program Files, not sure which ones, but may have been either autoroute and/or money. saw that info on msfn so a search should find it

Arn't I suppose to have network at cmdlines?
oioldman replied to egil's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
thank you fo rthat snippet, i had this and figured i was being dumb but never investigated:( that line the KB article says to add, where do i add it?, anywhere in the file or specifically at the end or where exactly. cheers. -
plhello and welcome. 1. you'll get this in a few other replies, but please use CODE TAGs as makes it easier to read. 2. it states your computer name is missing is beacuse it is you need to add that part to your winnt.sif under the [userdata] section. look inyour ref.chm for how to add as can't remember at moment 3. might be better to try with an easier password like rabbit or people

jre-1_5_0_06-windows-i586-p.exe
oioldman replied to Express's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@solid, the provided url is a bit strange. hatried it and went nowhere so copied link and noticed a duplication in he http://, so i removed and it now works: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/...ide/silent.html @ryaren, how do you install? and where in the order process? also, if you used nlite to remove IE then replace iexporer=1 with mozilla=1 and may be worth doing with the log file creation to see what errors it shows up -
if you have an AD then users can do a search and install the printer themselves as they will pick drivers of the printserver, that way you've saved legwork and not everybody will use "because it is new"

Also, the Help | Check for Updates doesn't flag anything as needed. Has anybody tried v2 Alpha? what's it like?

How to remove the pagefile in an unattended CD
oioldman replied to BrainDrain's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
you could add a regtweak with the option "No paging file" set can't do at work, but if you have a pc, use regsnap and do the before scan, make change, run after scan and then compare them. it will show which key(s) were added/modified and then apply during install -

Pioneer DVD-Recorder won't recongize DVD
oioldman replied to spacesurfer's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
i'd agree with mmx and say the drive is being picky, can you get the creator to reburn at slower speed to reduce change of "dodgy" burn -
Pioneer DVD-Recorder won't recongize DVD
oioldman replied to spacesurfer's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
have you enough free HDD space for the backup image to be created so it can be burnt? can you read that memorex dvds data with explorer? if not that could be your problem and not your media or the drive -
ok, so you have the imge all prepared. Have you run generated the iso to burn to CD? if not you need to do that and then it will build your PC.
-
that error reporting part is the issue. I remeber ryanvm or psooibly roguespear saying that the issue is because that the error reporting part is either disabled or not available yet and so stripped that requirement out of the install msi and all went well. again i haven't done this myself but all seemed ok according to posts
-
if you search for a post by Nanaki he describes a way to install office via cmdlines.txt I haven't used it, but seems to have worked for all those using it
-
to start it, do you mean you create the image, generate an iso, burn to disc, put in cd-drive and then press any key when prompted and it does what you wanted it to do, (install XP, install tweaks, install apps), or, do you mean something else?
