  1. its the program and not windows that is limited (i've never used the program mind) not all programs are optimised for multiple cpu's or cores
  2. the sheer awesomeness of the extensions available for firefox makes it the only choice for me, if i didn't have firefox, i'd be using opera, ie is still terrible
  3. disable the QOS service
  4. you should post in the 1.0 beta section, this one is old best way to connect to the internet is through a router, no crappy dialup software on your pc then, you simply plug in a network cable to your router, set it up (once) and it'll auto connect for you forever attatch your lastsession.ini to a post in that thread -to move files, hold shift as you drag them
  5. i'm guessing you're on sdram still? the prices of bundled am2/ddr2/motherboard 's has come down loads now, a cheapish powerful upgrade could be at hand i've never had any luck with forcing an old motherboard (or a new one at that) to use more memory than it's supposed to, if it has say 4x slots, its likely they're 256mb each slot (i'm guessing your spec here tho)
  6. for avi to dvd conversions.. convertxtodvd winavi for dvd to dvd anydvd + dvddecrypter, and dvdshrink if you need to
  7. terminal services doesn't effect internet connectivity -only terminal services! there are presets in nlite for component removals, plus only you know what you need the boot screen thing should never be included because nlite covers so many windows os's, and patching the boot screen can be dangerous, especially as different versions are released with service packs and some hotfixes etc use ryanvm hotfix pack for hotfixes
  8. you only need to slipstream SP2, it includes all SP1 updates
  9. best option is to format again and disconnect all other usb and hard drives otherwise you're bound to have a seriously borked registry
  10. LeveL, if you open a cmd window and just type upx (if it's in system32 folder) it lists the switches upx -9 "path to exe" that's all i use with it
  11. doubt anyone here will help you making a crappy spam site
  12. the way i do it is use nlite to only integrate rvm pack, close nlite, re open, then do removals (otherwise you get a few languages left over)
  13. from the nvidia drivers (6.86) extract them, then point nlite at the "ide\legacy" folder the legacy folder contains the drivers (use them as textmode)
  14. nice release
  15. create a new user, and don't select 'administrator' for the account type then login as that user, you won't be able to install programs
  16. Group: Members Posts: 1 Joined: 25-September 03 !! Like with all free software, its done when its done
  17. yes you can but if the card isn't supported it most probably wont work.. just buy a cheap agp replacement from the ocuk forums
  18. just add ryan's pack (and the directx and wga addons from his site) you might find the odd update on WU site, but they'll only be very new ones, no harm in using WU for them
  19. does the bios on the newer pc see the hard drive? if so, then try booting off the xp cd, and choosing recovery console once you're in, do these two things fixboot, fixmbr
  20. its in zedox's post as i said above!
  21. dunno give both a try, if the data is on the cd, both should be able to extract it
  22. That's simply un-true. I run stock XP, up to date using Windows Update. I have no antivirus, no firewall and ALL ports are forwared AND open to my computer. I don't catch viruses, nor am I a victim of security exploits the op said no windows updates.. i run without av, and have no ports forwarded to my main computer, the torrent pc has ports forwarded and i use hamachi to get around the ports for my pc
  23. ouch! good luck!
  24. i've used isobuster in the past to retrieve data lost due to bad sessions
