how do you think hes going to answer you? hes banned and therefore cannot reply. but to answer your question, like the majority of our bans, it was repeated violations over a long period of time.

its been ages since ive done it (long before SATA/WGA) but you can successfully move a windows install to another machine by changing the IDE controller drivers back to "Standard IDE Controller". windows will bot on the other hardware but its not always pretty. you have to reload almost every driver and even then its hardly what id classify as reliable.

Statistic increase in the use of all old MS OS
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to cannie's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Install XP/Vista Install Adobe Flash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiIC5qcXeNU you now have the best thing to ship on a 9x OS and all the functionality of Modern OS /i keed. seriously though why bother checking web stats to determine that other people are running 9x at this point? I would think that if your running a 10 year old OS youve gone way beyond the 'caring what other people think of you' stage. -
this is now your one and only active ftp setup thread. do not create multiple topics for the same question.

what is that 2gb unknown file sitting in my C drive?
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to sirpelidor's topic in Windows XP
i dont think thats A 2Gb file. i think its saying there are 2Gb OF files (total) contained in C:\ oh and even though ive never used that program i think i can safely say that windirstat is superior to Treesize -
MINWIN is the hostname of Vista setup (no seriously) you cant connect to the 'net during setup or open sysdm.cpl but if you run any utility that displays the local hostname after choosing Repair after booting from the Vista CD, itll display the hostname as 'MINWIN'

What e-mail service do you guys recommend?
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to adrian2055's topic in Networks and the Internet
gmail is the only one ill recommend these days but thats only because it has pop access. yahoo and hotmail both annoy the crap out of me though. word of warning though: gmails junk mail filter is just as bad. ive marked junk as junk since the invite-only beta and still get more crap from my non published gmail as i do to my work email. -
not really. the only racing game i play these days is Burnout Paradise on PS3 (coming soon to PC). Which is the greatest racing game (not simulator) ever made IMO. also TM nations forever looks friggin sweet http://store.steampowered.com/app/11020/ (its free too)

looks like your hardware should be able to run XP well (i dont see any hardware that has vista only drivers) Intel D946GZIS Motherboard Drivers for XP! Current WHQL Nvidia drivers as for the question about making a bootable CD with nlite, I never liked playing the INF guessing game with slipping a single driver. my prefered method is to use Driverpack MassStorage (and any others you might want) if you add DP MassStorage to your XP CD, itll work on 99% of every PC ever made. (personally ive only had 2 models that wouldnt work.) http://www.driverpacks.net Step by Step tutorial for integrating driverpacks also, if you would prefer to address your nvlddmkm problem, you might try using a driver newer than the ones officially available. (but not omega drivers or other such hacked up nonsense) guru3d has nvidia drivers that are released with newer cards that have had their INFs modified to run on older hardware (the driver itself is untouched and is usually stable) http://downloads.guru3d.com/Videocards---N...-32|64_c32.html

10 days for free? Then 5 days from now when the new expansion hits, you can pay 80$ for the game and its 2 expansions then after that its on 14.95 a month to play. Now that sounds like a lot of money now , but in the end you'll end up saving money when you consider that you wont be going outside or talking to anyone for several months because no one else cares about your 4 hour long raid last night, even if it does explain why you're an hour late for work and smell like you haven't bathed in 3 days. No but seriously WOW can be fun but if you ever get to the point where you plan your week around when the guild raids, you should prolly pull the plug.

public ip addresses are overrated. your better off just configuring a dydns.org name on your router and leaving it at that. -topic moved to networking

Patch Half Open TCP Limited of Windows 7 7000
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to softice's topic in Windows 7
This is good news. The lack of completely unnecessary placebos available at Vistas launch definitely kept some people from upgrading. Good to see they'll have those available on the 7 launch date. -

What is the best Windows File Copy alternative ?
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to Apollo232's topic in Software Hangout
it logs an error (doesnt popup) and continues with the copy. you can retry it or redo the copy and select "older only" as the overwrite option. it will skip exsisting files with the same date or newer dates and finish the copy. -
Yahoo Toolbar? BURN IT WITH FIRE! hehe just kidding. To each his own. But I do have to echo MCT on this one. Why would you want a search toolbar? if your using Firefox or Opera, just set your Ctrl+E/Ctrl+K Search box to Yahoo. Its a much cleaner fix than a nasty ol' BHO toolbar and IE. P.S. Your CAPS lock is on. Typing in all CAPS on the 'net is considered to be yelling and is often seen as being rude.
