  1. your confusing OEM branding with licensing. oeminfo.ini only affects the logo on the system properties dialog window and information displayed when you click 'support information' its been a while but i think OEM1&2 are just generic text fields displayed inside the 'support information' window. the SerialNo parameter is so OEMS can stick the manufacturers serial #(ex: Dell Service tag) where the user can find it inside the OS. it doesnt handle any of the actual licensing of windows for that you need to check out the WINNT.SIF file (AKA answer file) for licensing and other setup parameters: Creating a Basic Unattended Setup WINNT.SIF Reference
  2. well acording to wikipedia the gpu specs in the ps2 are http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_2..._specificationswhich even the aging ati 8500 could easily beat spec wise but its really an apples to oranges type of comparison since even the best emulator will never be the same as the intended hardware. so really what you need to learn is what people familiar with your chosen emulator think is required http://forums.pcsx2.net/thread-2333.htmlso based on those recommended specs im gonn guess that gaming on an ati 8500 with this emulator might be possible but i doubt itd be easy. looks like you might have to throw some newer hardware at it.
  3. I agree - its exactly like cutting large useless hole in an otherwise good wall.
  4. thats awesome amoebic. looks like she either has a habit of being useless or maybe its gateway support in general. as for your issue, our community might be able to help you if you could give us a full description of your issue in a topic in one of our forums.
  5. well technically <!-- and --> (no exclamations on close brackets) but yeah anything in coment markers is ignored.
  6. what was the OS you were running when you created the cd forkprong?
  7. yeah it used to be "Symantec - At least its better than nothing" but not even thats true anymore.
  8. is this thing on? thats exactly what i said.
  9. thats already included within SP2 http://www.computerworld.com/action/articl...ticleId=9122258 ok heres a fun game. replace the word "Endpoint" with any other word and the statement is still true! hehe -sorry i cant resist taking a cheap shot at symantec after the countless hours ive wasted working around their stupid problems.
  10. um yeah a total failure. that why they arent basing windows 7 on it. Vista has met its numbers despite all the FUD being spread around about it. have you ever used Mp? or just googled, saw "open source" used your magical open source=always better equation and posted that its the 'best media center ever' i would think if you had used it, you wouldnt have had to google for it. I HAVE used it and found its terrible even when compared to MCE 2005. you want a good MC try XBMC it easily smokes mp. and its open source you its magically better than anything else ever! yes it does but: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/e...cc61e61033.mspx the same was true for XP Home and XP Starter as for the worries that too many editions is somhow ruining windows rumor has it there will be 3 7 editions: this would seem to be credible as i can see MS doing away with Home basic after all the p***ing and moaning about it and i fully expect them to keep enterprise edition as well for VLK customers (even though a good part of this audience has a KMS by now) as for the "LOL you paid hundreds of dollars for 'ultimate widows' you must be stupid. I want to have Linuses babies!!" (i know that not what you said but that what i read) Microsoft is a company. they sell things. sometime that requires marketing things. get over it. if you want to spread around how much better linux is than anything MS ever made without doing any research at all, they have a site for that. its called slashdot.org The first 2 letters of the domain stand for Microsoft so surprise surprise your gonna find windows users here! oh and: [citation needed] ok first off, dont work around the word censors they are there for a reason. secondly, i live and work in the real world and Vista isnt nearly as bad today as XP was in 2004 2 years after its launch as for the question asked originally, you can contact the Windows 7 team by registering as a beta tester (HINT: you cant do this at piratebay.org you need to get you betas through MS for your opinion to be heard)
  11. you want viruses to practice on try this Find anyone that has ever uttered the words 'Mash it with the pointy clicker!' (if you live in Oklahoma like I do this wont be hard) Tell them you fix computers for a living (Warning: keep your conversations short with this crowd and under no circumstances should you tell them how you voted in the last election) Congratulations. you now have an endless stream of people bringing you virus-ridden computers to clean. Oh and no there is no way to stop them. they just keep coming.
  12. AFAIK you cant rebuild the mce install from a recovery partition. you might be able to rebuild the first CD if you had the entire I386 folder. If you had the 2 XP MCE OEM CDs you could reinstall using the key on the customers COA (might have to call the WGA line though after install) its been forever since ive reinstalled an OEM MCE machine though so my info might be out of date
  13. AFAIK this is still the case: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...mp;#entry785968
  14. for people that dont like direct links to exes: http://www.seamonkey-project.org/
  15. yeah ive dissected the thing and im talking with a guy online that does repairs on them. in the meantime i went ahead and oredered a dell 2405 with a 5yr because i cant trust the gateway anymore.
  16. i use a gyration keyboard/mouse on my media center http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16823172006 but i didnt pay anywhere near that price. i think i paid between 30-60$ for the 2 ive had from woot.com (first one was dissected by my then 3year old son)
  17. no its likely something in the power supply. no led. monitor has a startup chime too and its not sounding (which has been pretty lame until now that i want to hear it)
  18. http://support.gateway.com/s/MONITOR/70055...005576Rnv.shtml ive had a 24" gateway monitor since Dec '06 not so much as a single dead pixel until tonite until it just turned off and refuses to turn back on assuming it was out of warranty, i chatted with gateway support about it and i gotta tel you im not impressed (my name and serial # replaced) the equivalent 24" monitor from gateway sells for 469$ so that repair price is ridiculous. note the time between her responses. during the time it took her to tell me nothing, i swapped the monitor out with another, made & ate a sandwich, shopped for another 24" at dell, delloutlet and newegg. I still havent made a decision on which monitor to get to replace it but im leaning towards the dell 2408WFP because i can get it with a 5yr warranty for $575.75 (before discounts) but i may see if i can locate a local merchant that could work on it for me
  19. Agreed. it is unbelievably rude for someone to create a thread every few weeks demanding a new version from nuhi. if you have specific issues with nlite/vlite, post a thread that contains those issues, let the community attempt to resolve them then if a solution cant be reached it might be constructive to ask the developer directly but these "get to work nuhi" threads are going to stop now.
  20. youve basically described the built in system file checker. the problem with using it as a malware defense is that malware rarely replaces files anymore. it easier just to toss a key in the registry and let windows do the rest. if such a tool existed, 99% of the infected machines it ran on would show as being perfectly clean.
  21. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18408 ive also moved your thread to the unattended forum since all your questions have to with customizing the install process
  22. %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup or %PROGRAMDATA%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup will both work but i believe the reason why the code above isnt working is the space between start and menu in the destination part of your copy command.
