  1. Hi all Just a note more than anything but I've just repackaged it using a silent switch and it works when you load it up for the first time [after a reboot that you choose hehe]. msiexec /qb /i "Microsoft AntiSpyware.msi" REBOOT=ReallySuppress Use the above in a wrapper and it works lovely Run the downloaded setup file first of course to extract the files into a temp folder in your profile and you can then do the above Or if you cant be bothered, see my apps site [see sig] and get it from there EDIT: Get it from the green box on my site where it says "Latest ver from here >> Click me <<" as I havent time to fully update the page right now. Cheers Nath.
  2. No problem Glad to help. N.
  3. did u try any of those updates to see where they go in the end? please post them for everyone to know if ya did Cheers N.
  4. what folder did u move it into btw? you never said hehe N.
  5. Can you post more info? Like how you have it setup? what directory structure you are using? Your xpcreate.ini file and the log that xpcreate makes when you run it? One thing to remember is that its advisable that you dont try and run it from a location with spaces in it i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\xpcreate = Dont use C:\build\XPCREATE = much better way [as it has no spaces] Hope that makes sense - my brain is falling asleep hehe Cheers N.
  6. Tinywoods - GM doesnt take kindly to the cmd file being modified - so dont do it I'm gonna be making a new build with xpc soon so i'll try and have a look at your two points you've asked about shortly. Regards N.

mgy - welcome to msfn but please search the forum first and if you don't find the answer, ask about these questions. Just take a look at the 3rd item at the top of the page: http://unattended.msfn.org/ or look/ask in the Unnattended section of MSFN please. Please keep you questions in this board regarding xpcreate only thanks Regards N.
  8. Welcome to MSFN I think you'll find that you have to contact GM about that Just posting on here is not enough. Regards N.
  9. Welcome to MSFN danr29. Try this: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\7.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cWebSearchView\cPositions\cInternal] "bHidden"=dword:00000001 (and remember to use code tags when posting ) Think thats the one. I've rebuilt the package - its a exe - take a look at my site in my sig if ur interested. It removes the the yahoo bar, turns off the updater, and a few other things. Hope it helps Nath
  10. You will find that it wont matter what hdd you use - whether its formatted or not - if you are using the same SCSI adapter. Visit Adaptec's website for a updated driver or try using a windows xp answer file to use during installation [winnt.sif]. You can find out about this with the OPK or looking at the MSFN unattended guide at the top of the page - or click http://unattended.msfn.org/ lol In the answer file, you need to specify this: [Unattended] DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore in order to help prevent windows setup complaining when you are installing windows with unsigned drivers. Dont worry about the answer file too much - but keep it very simple to prevent errors during setup. Save the file as winnt.sif [make sure to use notepad.exe and save it as a .sif NOT winnt.sif.txt which can happen if u dont take care to change the save type] Good luck and let us know how you get on Regards Nath
  11. I doubt it, considering that modifying the exe and releasing it publicly would bring Microsoft down on the person doing it with great vengance most likely So i wouldnt recomend it Regards N.
  12. Hi all I know this has been touched upon before, but can anyone suggest what they would recommend when building a new PVR MCE 05 PC? Can you submit a list of items you would use, etc. please I'm thinking of making this for use as a replacement to having to use [VHS] tape recorders to record programs etc. - you know the drill I'm sure lol - with both a analogue and a digital recording / watching capability. Ideally, I would like it to be able to record sky digital - I have a normal Sky Box if this could help here - and a RF analogue signal too. To be specific, UK broadcasts hehe Also, the only output I'd have on this machine would be a normal 21" TV [Toshiba 21S23B2 - Sorry it isnt the best link in the world lol] and I'm wondering can you achive a "nice" picture on this? I have a Hercules ATI A.I.W. Radeon 9800 SE [the one that you can software mod into a 9800 Pro hehe] if this will help with the system build Pentium 4 or a Athon 64 [939] based system would be fine. I would say Pentium M but the cost of a 2G Pentium M is a little pricey I think. Ideally, this needs to be a SFF type machine, etc.. as it's a lounge / main room type machine [and there's already enough computers in it hehe] so any help in this area could be well useful. Many regards to those that can help out here - i'm just stuck regarding the digital / analogue tuners & proper output to the TV really. Cheers Nath.
  13. Have you tried creating a new account [user] and logging on with that? If so, transfer all your work to the new account and delete that user [providing it isnt the administrator account, etc. lol]. Let us know how that goes lol Regards N.
  14. It may original but its definately not genuine lol If you havent recieved the cd's to go with the new pc... "generally" as a rule, you should receive the OS cd's and any hardware accompanying cd's i.e. graphics card, motherboard, etc. with any new pc, or in the case of a royalty oem (big manufacturers like hp, dell, etc), it may be in the form of a restore cd ...then it certainly wont be genuine. Furthermore, you should have a Certificate of Authenticity [CoA] sticker fixed to the chassis/case of the pc you buy. With MCE (2005), I cant be 100% as I personally never seen any of them, but you should definately have a CoA on the machine. You best give microsoft a call and tell them what you've just told us. Regards N.
  15. Ahh a handy reminder thanks I probably used it when I setup server 2003 and domain over a year ago now - the link got lost of course as usually happens. Maybe exchange schema update has reset these points - and I just need to follow the info in that link again perhaps. I'll give it a go thanks but any other suggestions are welcome Cheers Nath
  16. Not at work now so cant tell you the error message exactly but it is something like "The network cannot authenticate your user name. ...." Yes, I've always installed the DSClient installed since I got server 2003 and setup the domain a year ago. Has been workig fine until I added exchange 2003 [and the exch 2003 SP1] to the system. It looks like i have no choice but to wipe all the machines and setup XP Pro on them all - licenses will come to about £1k They are powerful enough to cope with but they will be fairly slow tho but at least they'll work lol The urgency is that there is a parents evening for next years new first year - and it aint gonna look good if half the pc's in the school dont work. Budgets are tight [in case you are wondering why we didnt upgrade them all to XP Pro already]. If there is a solution, I'd rather hear about it tho - as the parent's evening is Tuesday night [GMT timezone lol] - but it aint looing hopeful. cheers N.
  17. No probs Umm... you'll have to check the documentation or perhaps the online support [if they have some] on disaster recovery, etc. Also, if its just copying the files in the backup process and nothing else i.e. systemstate, registry, etc., then all your work and profiles should be safe [possibly the directory permissions also] but you'd have to start from scratch as it isn't like making a image of a machine with ghost for example [tho u might wanna do a one of if you are that concerned]. Although I periodically backup as much of the DC as I can ie. systemstate - full backup [although thats a little hard now as the data is now way larger than the tape drive can hold - even with compression], i have the important areas [user work folders, applications & profiles] on a regular backup schedule. I'd find it easier to start from scratch if things turned nasty - and just restore the work folders. may take a day but it'd probably be easier than splicing together a backup containing system settings etc and a fresh OS install. There is a thing called ASR that you might want to look into but I'm not sure how that works - i've made a backup at the begining with that but not done one since. Just havent had the time to look into it really. Hope this rambling helps Regards N.
  18. This all depends on how you are backing up the system to a remote computer. If you can explain what methods you are using to do this, it will help us help you better. I think that should the worse happen, you'll have to rebuild it from scratch - its easier than reconfiguring from a backup really. Using methods like RAID 1 (mirrored drives) at least should provide good leverage in the event of a HD failure. Other than a fire, server giving up its own life (lol), etc. or NT server messing itself up - it should be fine with the above precautions in place. But tell us more about the setup really - so that we can advise better. Regards N.
  19. Hi all Really desperate on this one as I cant get any of the windows 98 SE clients to log on to the 2003 domain. Its been like this all day today and yesterday. the day before that, I attached a new 2003 SP1 server to the domain - to be a exchange 2003 email box - and then after running through the check list, i installed exchange - had a quick look and a play, then installed the SP1 for exchange. I noticed incidentally that when exchange was installing, it was updating the AD schema - which, to me, looks like it could be the reason but what i need to adjust to reverse the problem, i just cant find I've reconfigured the DNS a few times and checked the Policy [config.pol] for the 98 PC's - which looks as it should do. Because the 98 machines are so locked down, I've used a reg reset on one of the 98 pc's, so that I am not "required to log on to access the computer" , but it all looks fine. Can anyone suggest what I need to look at? Has something been changed by default when installing Exchange [or Exchange SP1]? In the GPO and/or on the way the server communicates with the client pc's? Any thoughts would really help right now as I dont want to have to start a paid incident with microsoft. Cheers Nath
  20. ...and reboot-wise: REBOOT=ReallySuppress I use that all the time and havent had anything reboot after install yet lol Cheers Nath
  21. Please search - I saw a similar topic appear only the other day. OEM versions aren't slipstreamable (I'm 99% sure) - the only version that is, is VLK licensed ones that I know of. Regards N.
  22. LMAO er that was my point lol Nath
  23. Hi there Have you tried the suggestions on their site? http://simcity3000unlimited.ea.com/us/guid...elp/index.phtml I can't seem to find a patch/updates page, but use the Update feature somewhere in the game install - could be a seperate icon also - to make sure you are using the latest version of the game. Let us know how you get on Regards, N.
  24. ...of course, the sims (or any app/game for that matter) will only work like this if it doesn't add files to other places other than its installation dir AND if it doesnt make changes/additions to the registry. neatan, you're better off making one of these (presumably it would be fairly easy to do without certain exp packs - i didn't get a chance to read it fully - soz about that): http://fileforums.com/showpost.php?p=268261&postcount=106 Regards N.
  25. lol cheating that is Regards N.
